Tornadoes are crazy... I heard one once. It sounded like absolutely nothing natural. Didn't sound like wind; sounded like a giant, metal machine devouring everything around it. Crazy. Others have compared it to the sound of jet engines, and I think that would be accurate, too.

Whole lotta workers looking like they were waiting on someone, or something, to arrive too. I saw nary a hammer swung.

Damn near everything was fenced off with barbed wire. Not much public use land I saw. Whole lotta seemingly non-working ranches and pricey homes secluded in the hills.

I didn't get any pictures of the hills since we were driving and the windshield was constantly getting splattered with bugs. It was unfortunate, I'm used to a very very flat Texas.

One could argue that women sports are like the Special Olympics (because they are assumed to be worse than the males) anyway and that's why nobody should care. This point of view would enrage the planet, but is logically sound. Lower weight divisions in fighting sports are kind of the same; ultimately what matters is whether in a fight one guy wins or another. Adding handicaps just makes it easier.

White people could claim that there should be an all white division too, because they can't ever beat Ethiopians in a marathon.

My personal opinion is that the easiest solution would be to just use the medical sex to group results (that way intersex people would also be able to participate somewhat in yet a separate group), so if one transgender wants to join, they would just win a $5 trophy because they presumably were the only contestant. So, they can still participate, because probably there would also be events like a world championship with more contestants.

The most popular option would probably be an outright ban, however.

I don't really get why you care so much about this topic. It makes me think it's just Russian propaganda.

[–]blackpilllife 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Trans athletes are getting involved at women’s sports to easily beat women at sports that are supposed to be for women. When people say there is something wrong with this the intolerant far leftists get involved to come at the people saying their is something wrong with it to acuse them of being transphobic.

Trans athletes should not participate in women’s sports it’s not transphobic to say that and anyone who thinks it’s transphobic is highly likely to be someone who falls for the lefts victim narrative that can’t think for themselves.

Most logical people would say trans athletes should have their own individual trans competing division of sports. We are in a decade of madness and you can’t get away with being logical and fair because people with a victim narrative will stop at nothing to bully people in to trouble they don’t deserve over not getting they’re way these days

You sure said a lot of things there without actually saying anything. "Secure a niche in the market" is some of the most meaningless buzz language I think I've ever heard, as if owning a company that makes towels means there's no room for other companies to make towels, even though your towel company is bleeding money.

Look, I get it, you don't have a good answer to my question. That's totally cool. I don't either, that's why I asked it. Getting all "Don't be naïve" doesn't help. If your point is they are "True Believers", that's fine. That was one the original points I offered up.

The company is never gone. You dont seem to realize the scheme is deeper. There are thousands of zombie companies out there surviving on loans with little profit. They exist solely to secure a niche in the market. What makes you think the banks dont want to control the gaming industry by zombifying triple-A companies into making products they want? Stop being so naive.

You keep saying this, but I keep pointing out that it isn't correct: There isn't a gold mine. There's no gold in this practice. Those franchises lose money, the companies lose money and even the largest ones are starting to suffer as a result, as we can see with Disney being called out for lying about their profits on these franchises at their earnings call, having battles over board positions and closing down whole sections of their parks that cost billions to create.

I understand that ESG ratings impact loans, but, one again, I point out that a loan option is no good if your company is gone. With this in mind: Why crash a company over this?

The thing they want by xoenix in Comics

[–]Rah 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The people involved will stay in the sector and ruin other franchises. The companies will rebrand. Its too much of a gold mine to be left alone, the banks incentivize it too much.

The thing they want by xoenix in Comics

[–]NastyWetSmear 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Okay, that's a slight pivot, but it returns to my original point: That's earning investment and loans by following the ESG guidelines, but that seems secondary when whole companies are closing down due to it. An example - Luminous Productions were shut down following their game, Forspoken, crashing and burning. The Rings Of Power got such low viewership, such negative reaction and so few people who started watching it will finish watching it that they've packed up the whole production and moved it out of New Zealand for whatever remaining seasons they are contracted to complete. ESG scores earning you loans to create new products is great, but when none of your products return a profit, why keep doing it?

As to the idea of them selling the property on? I don't see much evidence of that. Disney aren't selling Star Wars to someone to recoup the losses of making these dozens of shows that fail. Nobody is buying Snow White after they nearly released a film that was crashing and burning so hard they tried to CGI in Dwarves at the last second. Once these brands are tarnished, selling them on isn't going to cover the loss they made. There must be something else. "True Believers Of The Cause" is my first assumption?

The thing they want by xoenix in Comics

[–]Rah 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It does not matter if the franchise is destroyed as long as they sold it out and keep selling it out. Banks will pay. Content harm is secondary to loans and debt renegotiation. Companies know what they are doing and its a race to see just how much they can squander their intellectual property to the highest bidder.

I don't think that's accurate. A lot of these disloyal remakes crash and burn or ruin franchises long term. Look at all this new Star Wars content being pumped out that barely gets any views on their streaming services, or the new Final Fantasy 7 Remake that massively undersold. If anything, I'd say the fear of a remake now harming the original content is what prevents people from even purchasing the honest ones.

Take a look at a 95% loyal remake, Super Mario RPG. Its beautiful. Its loyal to the fanbase. But it does not generate as much revenue as being an ESG sellout. Thats the sad truth. Other companies make more money with the banks filling them with money and renegotiating their debt by accruing ESG score, product be damned.

It's baffling how we came to this point.

Remakes are the most confusing thing, for me at least. Video games especially. You have fans built into your franchise. They already love the thing you own. They want more of it... Or, more specifically, they want the thing you've already made, but they want it updated with the latest graphics and voice acting and maybe some control tweaks and such. Essentially, you already have 50% of the work done - Same story, same dialog, same plot points and general game play, same items, same locations... All you need now is some voice actors, the programmers to redo these existing things with modern graphics and, if you're feeling adventurous, maybe flesh out some characters a little, add some side quests, you know, just a splash of spice...

... Then they hand out something that spits in the face of the original product, even sometimes going so far as to insult the players and the product itself, changing everything to the point where it's almost unrecognizable. Actual total plot and story changes. Maybe the one key thing that people who wanted the original again, only better, wouldn't want...

Obviously it's not about making money. They had people lined up to give them money. Even stuff like ESG investment only partially explains it, because while you obviously need to keep access to that investment money, you have to know that it's a death knell for your company to isolate, insult and upset the consumer of the product? We've seen it happen more than once, it isn't an unknown phenomenon. There has to be some element of "True Belief" at work.

It's really pretty maddening. Even a monkey throwing poop at a dart board would hit the bull's eye a couple of times a year.

Made by Freemason, they worship Satan, light represents him, the enlightenment was all about being anti Christian, using science which they fake to hurt faith. Libertas was a goddess of freed slaves in the Roman Empire, she was made up to get freed slaves to still work for their masters. During French Revolution the revolutionaries tried to replace Christianity and this personification of liberty replaced mother mary. She's on the great seal of france too. the iconic image of Mystery Babylon

That's the statue of liberty. It's not Mystery Babylon.

Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi came up with the face, loosely based on a mixture of Augusta Charlotte Bartholdi, the Roman goddess Libertas, and a peasant woman.

Something's going on with imgur. My other post is requires age verification to view, but not this one. I made them a few minutes apart the exact same way and I didn't mark it as "mature".

Me, too, when I'm not logged in. I'll see what's up.

edit: I checked it and it is the same as the picture post I made a few minutes before. The other one doesn't ask for age verification and neither were checked as mature content by me. I wonder if someone complained that this is NSFW somehow.

Why does Imgur ask me if I'm over 18 when I click this? What do they think the deer are doing?

Neat! This might be easier for some of us to see, Imgur has become kind of a pain to use for me on mobile.

They did not come using slaves, that makes no sense at all.

Agreed. It makes no sense at all.

It's also not what I said.

I said they came from their own countries.

And i said slave labor from non whites was used to build infrastructure.

They came from their own countries and, using black slaves, built some infrastructure.

They did not come using slaves, that makes no sense at all. Slaves were unskilled manual labor, they never empowered anyone to do anything they couldn't already do. Slaves were not used to build infrastructure. They were used on plantations and as house servants.

Slavery was not brought into the colonies until long after the colonies were established. Settlements were built by settlers.

Who were in their own country.

What country was that?

The natives lived in tribes. The tribes did not recognize any land ownership. They regularly went as far as they wanted and killed any other natives they came across. They killed settlers as well, but quickly learned that white settlers had guns and were too strong to be killed like other tribes. They never established any country. That was a concept that white men brought to the continent. And according to the white man's customs they bought the land from the natives who were on it, only for the natives to take the payment then completely ignore that treaty and continue to try pushing settlers off the land they bought.

No settler ever took over any city that natives had built because natives never built any cities. They had temporary camps which were completely useless to settlers because of the poor quality of the buildings. Everything the settlers had they built. And they built a great country from the ground up. Only then were slaves brought in, by jewish merchants, to sell as manual labor for farms.

a minority in their own countries" is an oxymoron?

It's a great point. The 200-year war on woke is now in full swing by the Republican party and will only convince those who are unable or unwilling to examine the absurdity of it. Hence ridiculous analogies sing to the 'war on woke' choir. It's the standard divide and conquer approach of the few over the many, dressed up as fear of the other. (And combatted with comments like Biden's, "you can't love your country only when you win.")
