Wonderful! Nice! I gotta get one and try this, too. Getting a wood burning stove for the house, specifically, is my big expense goal this year.
After watching this video, I'm thinking that a camping tent stove would be a good investment for the upcoming power failure. We have lots of free wood available here to use as a cooking fuel. He makes it look fun, but he is practicing living in survival mode, which soon will not be fun any more. by In-the-clouds in DecentralizeAllThings
I am literally thinking about making this very investment. Stove tent, stove. It's on my list.

I think it would be helpful to define genocide. Is genocide the physical killing of an entire ethnic group of people? Is genocide the imprisonment of an ethnic group? Forced relocation? Forced language shifts?
Genocide in its most literal break down means "race killing". Not culture killing or language killing, but race killing. I know people sometimes talk about linguistic or cultural genocide, but the term seems to be over-used.
If we can define terms, then we can decide if a term is being used correctly, or if a less intense or more intense word needs to be used instead. This is the problem with post-modernism. Increasingly, words mean what a person wants them to mean subjectively. This makes historical discourse and contemporary dialogue kind of hard.

It really blows my mind that this is even a thing. Back when I was growing up, kids would mess around with hair and clothing, but we'd never dream of going on hormones or having surgery. You just muddled through high school, eventually figured out who you were, and life went on. I know I sound like an old fart, but holy cow...
I remember reading some Leslie Feinberg about 17 years ago, and I think we have her to thank for a lot of this. Only, funny thing, as far as I know she never got bottom surgery. Seems like this really began to take off around 2008-2010 or so.

Oklahoma ‘Millstone Act’ seeks to ban gender-affirming care under age of 26 by Vulptex in politics
But if the surgery is innately harmful and the tissue in question isn't infected or harboring a tumor, why cut into it? And as the issue is with the person's perception of their naturally male or female body, this seems more like a psychological issue that needs therapy, not a physical one that needs surgery.
I get that this may be a sensitive issue for you, Vulptex. And you have my sympathy and my concern. But honestly, man, look at the de-trans testimonies. And the things that can go wrong with this surgery are startling. Life-changing, but in all the wrong ways. The ones who regret it, regret it big-time, and may even consider killing themselves.
I'm on the fence. I'm not sure that this should be outlawed, but I really don't think a kid should be able to get access to this stuff. If they're not old enough to get a tattoo, get married, consent to sex with an adult, or go to war, they shouldn't be old enough to go on T or E or get top or bottom surgery.
I'm torn. I definitely feel like no one under 18 should be given opposite-sex hormones or surgery, but 26? I would say, either allow folks to get hormones and eventually surgery at 18, or just ban hormones and bottom surgery all together.
Given how messed up the results of bottom surgery often are (pain, wounds that never heal, weird complications, drainage), maybe no one should be getting this surgery. You can't do to the human body what these surgeons are claiming, anyway. And the ones who regret the surgery regret the $#@! out of it.

How Old Was Mary When She Had Jesus? Historians agree that Mary was most likely between 12 and 14 years old when Jesus was born. by [deleted] in whatever
[–]tiny-brown-mug 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun - 10 months ago* (0 children)
She was likely closer to 14 when she was engaged to Saint Joseph, and closer to 15 when she bore Christ. In pre-diaspora Jewish culture, girls would not have been typically married until they were old enough to have children, and like Jett implied, girls back then developed later. Thanks to all the hormones and junk in our food today, girls as young as 8 begin developing physically, but on a natural, pre-modern diet 13-17 would have been a more realistic age for a young woman to be able to have kids, and hence get engaged.
The engagement period also typically lasted about a year, after which the young man and woman began actually living together as husband and wife.
This all kind of gets implied in the Gospels. The Annunciation happened after she had already been engaged to Saint Joseph, and she was found to be expecting a Son during her engagement period. This would have had to have been a long enough engagement period for her family to notice she was pregnant. It's also shown that a girl of 12 (Jairus' daughter) was still at home, thought of as child, was not engaged, and was not yet married. So 12 is a bit young.
Based on more natural human development and 1st Century Jewish culture, we can infer that Mary was 13-17 when she was engaged and 14-18 when she bore Christ. thumbs up

Arkansas: passes a bill that makes drag shows adult-only (rightfully so) TRAs: THEY LITERALLY WANT TO ERASE TRANS PEOPLE by BenitoGreen99 in TumblrInAction
Well, they're not supposed to be. Problem is, now you have drag queen story hour, kids being taken on field trips to gay bars, and adult sexuality being taught to kids at younger and younger ages. This is all concerning, and tends to point back to the LGBTQ community, even though plenty of LGB people are not on board with this.
I don't think this will impact cross dressing. This is basically about performances, specifically raunchy stage performances where men in drag sing and perform in an explicit or obscene manner. This is not about a man wearing a dress in public as he shops for groceries, gets his car fixed at the shop, and pays his water bill.
I think that if a few fringe members of the community hadn't gone way, way overboard with "Drag Queen Story Hour" and if we weren't seeing this frantic rush to trans kids, this would never have happened. The extremes are pushing other extremes. Having said that, I agree that drag shows are very... adult. They're obscene, contain enactments of sex acts, raunchy jokes, etc. They're not meant for kids.
This may lead to gay bars who host these shows being limited to 18+ admission. No minor teens, no kids, show your ID at the door.

I wondered about this. I remember reading a very weird article in early 2021. A 19-year-old girl was having trouble with Covid (some breathing issues), and her mother brought her to the hospital. Once there, she was put on oxygen, and then the hospital decided to put her (the daughter) on a ventilator. The daughter was screaming and crying in terror at the thought of being on a ventilator as she saw this as an indication that she would not recover. The 19-year-old girl was put on a ventilator, and died.
Ok, now... most 19-year-olds can recover just fine from Covid. This girl may have had complications which made her very sick, but still. If she was screaming and crying at the thought of being put on a ventilator, did she really need a ventilator? And why did she die after being put on one? Shouldn't that have helped her?
The whole article was just incredibly messed up.

WHEN DID YOU FIGURE OUT THE COVID HOAX LIES by BISH in WorldNews
I'm glad it wasn't too bad for you, man! It seems like obese folks and diabetics had the worse time with it. My 68-year-old Mom caught it, and had it pretty bad. She mercifully survived, though, minus any hospitalization. I have a weird feeling about hospitalizations for this thing. I have heard of 19-year-old kids brought to the hospital for Covid (thank you, media panic), being intubated, and they wind up dying.
Yeah, don't work out too hard. If you do have at least two doses of this stuff in your system, go easy on your body. No jogging, no sports, no aerobics.
Walking, light stretching, that is it. If you have to climb more than one or two flights of stairs, maybe consider taking the elevator.
There is not a lot of data out there to help people, because the medical establishment does not want to admit that anything is wrong. But based on what we can see here and in the news, intense physical activity can be dangerous for the vaccinated. Don't risk it.

If I can't bring myself to call a male co-worker "she", I shouldn't be hauled into HR or fired over it. This is a mater of one's medical, biological, and even moral views about sex and reality, and if one feels it's just a flat-out lie to use language this way, they shouldn't be forced to.
Girl, 17, weeps recalling seeing naked trans woman with penis in gym by [deleted] in politics

I'm not adverse to setting up separate bathrooms or individual changing rooms for these people, but forcing women and girls to stare at male genitals is just wrong. The irony is that the public's growing frustration and disgust may eventually lead to people getting violent and hurting MTF men, so the whole goal of shoving this down everyone's throats to keep trans people "safe" may in fact backfire.

Valid question. Which parts of what we would call Ukraine does Russia see as being technically Russia?

"My other experiments followed similar patterns. I couldn’t reduce consumption in three significant areas since I don’t own a car, I was already vegan, and I have no children."
Perhaps this is the goal. No cars, no meat, no baby humans. And no electricity. While a part of me finds projects like this interesting, I can't help but feel that there's an extremist message or end goal here.

CNN Confirms Biden Took Classified Documents Relating To Ukraine During Final Days Of Obama Administration by EternalSunset in news

I have a question. Is Biden hiding something in Ukraine? Because he seems to be absolutely obsessed with that country, and he's spending billions to make sure Russia doesn't take it over. China forcefully took back Hong Kong, we didn't care. India took back Kashmir, we didn't care. Israel keeps chipping away into parts of Syria, and we don't care.
Why is he so obsessed with Ukraine? What's he hiding over there?
GOP bill says only the American flag can fly over US embassies: No more pride, BLM flags by [deleted] in politics
I traveled to Maine this past summer. Rural Maine. And if anyone's every been up there, you know it's the New England approximation of rural Indiana or something. Very down-to-earth, hard-working, moderate-to-conservative folks.
So a town had completely replaced all of the US flags on a public bridge with Pride Progress flags. Every single one. In rural Maine. On a public bridge. I had to kind of stare at the scene and mentally process it. And it's not like some or half of the US flags has been swapped out, every single one was gone.
How is anyone not supposed to interpret that as some kind of a hostile take over? And on a public road?
Do you guys think all the people who got vaccines are going to die? by [deleted] in AskSaidIt
I think most people will be ok. Those who, sadly, seem to be dying in large numbers are young, healthy athletes. Which is especially maddening, as young healthy people were least likely to die of Covid and really didn't need these darn shots. Most people I know who got them seem fine. I know of two vaccine injuries and a possible third, and all of them are pretty messed up. Migraines that never go away, dizzy spells, symptoms that mimic MS, etc. Sheesh.
I'm glad you seem to be ok, though. Just go easy on yourself. The less active a person is, the better chances they seem to have of not experiencing weird problems later.
Oklahoma bans all gender affirming care by Hoomsns in whatever
I think a good second tactic would be to ban social media. I keep hearing story after story of folks who "realized they were trans" after being told that they were on Reddit, TikTok, Tumblr, etc.
This is good, though. This surgery is not care, it's pretty messed up. You want to cross-dress? That's your call to make. But the number of folks who regret this surgery is staggering. And the stuff that can go wrong is grotesque, and painful to hear about.

What gets me is that she was fired for using the platform exactly as it was intended; she followed people she agreed with and was terminated for it. That's ridiculous. I would argue that social media is so broken and weaponized, that there's no sense in being on it.
Just stick to anonymous places like this and maybe some weird, hipster sites like "space hey" or something, or an anonymous blog. Using anything as yourself just seems risky. And I agree, it shouldn't be that way. But it is, unfortunately.
My second working amateur radio station - I put this one in my truck. It's powered by a 12V battery, charged by a solar panel via a charge controller. That's pretty cool. Good job, Clouds! You have an impressive amount of technical know-how.
Well, I think that being offended has become equal to being punched or beaten in some people's minds, which tells you how rarely some of these people get off of social media.
But either there need to be some ground rules about what can and can not get a person fired or (my advice) folks just need to get off of social media until things calm down. Because being fired for following Blaire White of all people is just stupid. So what?
I'm already weirded out that typing something into Facebook or Twitter while you're off the clock and sitting on your couch can get you canned. Your social media life and your work life ought to be separate.

No, I agree. Something needs to be done here. People have been fired in the US over "offensive" on-line opinions, which is incredibly subjective. Women have been arrested in Europe for saying that men can not be women. It's getting ridiculous.
Maybe have it be very strict; if someone threatens to kill you, physically hurt you, or hurt your family, sure. Prosecute that. If they just have an opinion that you find stupid or ignorant, ignore it and move on with your life. Because this is having real-life consequences, and it's like China's Weibo. Only, according to one user on here, worse.
