Actually the real number of the beast is 616. The oldest copy of the Book of Revelation (Papyrus 115) gives the number of the beast as as χιϛ or χιϲ, which is 616. Other ancient manuscripts like the Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus agree. "666" is a typo from the original, or possibly a deliberate error to hide the true number.

Anyone claiming 666 is the number of the beast is either mistaken or a Satanist trying to mislead people.
