Nothing is ever good enough for them. How dare the trans woman sound like a trans woman. Surely that's actual representation?

I mean with fanfic I guess they could be added in their own super special change your gender potion that works and doesn't reverse. In which case why are you thinking that that would get at Rowling? She seems the sort to think that if trans people could transition like that would actually be for it because then they'd be female and not have some of the issues associated with it that she does in the real world. Honestly it just seems like some of them have trouble with fantasy vs reality.

The potion part is even funnier if you know how polyjuice potion works in canon:

  1. It only lasts a few hours per dose, which is the least of your worries but still a hassle. Certainly not a permanent cure for gender dysphoria.

  2. It explicitly does not change your voice. The trans character Sirona Ryan in Hogwarts Legacy was condemned by TRAs for having "a man's voice", despite being voiced by a real trans woman.

  3. It changes your appearance to that of a specific real person, whose hair is added to the potion just before consumption. It doesn't let you fine-tune your appearance, or become your "true self" of the opposite sex, only take the form of someone you are not.

You ever know someone who's not necessarily "unattractive" but you have absolutely zero sexual attraction to them also? Like, you could never see yourself sleeping with/dating them, but you can't explain why, like they give off a "sister" vibe? [–]NastyWetSmear 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've felt that way before. I've even felt it about people who are more than conventionally attractive. People who I can look at and say: "Yeah, she's beautiful."... And then just feel nothing about at all.

I assume it's some evolutionary, lizard brain quirk. Something instinctive in me that tells me, on some biological level that I can smell or see but not consciously understand, that we wouldn't be a good pair to be breeding? My eyes tell me that they are beautiful, my brain tells me they are nice, but some instinctive ape centre inside me says: "No, our kids would have lung problems and would die trying to climb their first tree. NEXT!"

Love, lust and desire are odd things like that. It's like a woman describing her ideal man to a person who matches every criteria she's describing and then going off with someone else who seems to have none of those qualities - we might know, intellectually, what's good about a person but be biologically driven to get something else despite ourselves. Very odd.

I think I agree with you. If she did or said something to end their relationship (even if she "dumped him") he moved on and married a woman who is now his wife, and he did so by choice, not willing to wait for the ex to come to her senses.

He can be free from guilt if he gave her the opportunity to write her communication out, whatever it was she wanted to say. If she is not willing to do that, that is more evidence that he is being set up for a fall.

Never been, but I keep hearing it's a beautiful city

It is! Especially the downtown part of it. Though it's not always like that - in winter it's just plain depressing everywhere you go. Would not recommend. Though maybe it's just me.

Is the city a pretty even mix of old architecture and new?

Yeah, pretty much so. Though, the closer you get to the outskirts, the more ugly ass lifeless modern buildings you see.

What are the main night life / Saturday nigh evening out activities?

I think it's pretty much the same everywhere. Tons of bars, restaurants and clubs open all night in the city centre, very peaceful & quiet outside of the major areas. I don't know, you gotta ask someone more experienced about that. I usually just stroll around in an attempt to feel alive, lol. That's what I was doing when I took this pic.

But I personally choose to be extra careful, as I have a history of, um... interacting with authorities. Over another, unrelated matter, but still...

Did they care about you talking to your friends

Absolutely not. If they did, everyone would have been in jail by now.

In principle, the government could just arrest you for sharing 'intelligence' (pictures of a street).

I used to like Savage’s podcast and column in the The Stranger, he was honest about a lot of things that were verboten at the time, a big one was that male and female sexual appetites were actually different, and that without the taming effect of women, men’s sexual behaviours were deranged.

And then he bent the knee to the trans crowd and I’ve never read or listened to him again.

The woman is his "ex" because he left her, gave up on her, severed the relationship.... even if it was because of something she did or said, and his choice was finalized when he chose to marry another woman. When he married another woman he declared the previous relationship was over.

It's suspicious that he says they must speak in person face to face. How can the "ex" be demanding on how they communicate when they are no longer in a relationship?

My thoughts: We should do more to be reconciled with people while they are yet living instead of waiting for them to die. It would be good for him to confess his faults to both his ex and his wife to gain their forgiveness. He could give the "ex" the option to communicate openly with him, so that his wife could also hear or read what is said, but not privately face-to-face. He would hurt his wife doing so and could even fall into temptation in person and make matters even worse. A safe option would be for him to send the ex a written message, allowing the wife to read it first. If the ex is serious about communicating, she will compromise on the requirement for it to be in person and also reply in writing for the wife to also see.

Some of you may not have been in the mind space for this yet but back in the day this exact same JKR effect happened to a different person.

Dan Savage is/was a very well known gay man who would ostensibly be with transgender people on 99.99% of issues. He was giving a speech at a university and used the word "tranny", which at the time was still a very common term and it was perceived more like a shorthand way of saying transsexual. Like saying granny for grandma, etc. anyway, at some point the early 4th wave type TRAs decided that word had become the "T slur" and a bunch of the students freaked the hell out and were like throwing themselves out of the auditorium claiming they were experiencing violence etc... Dan Savage became the "big bad" to the LGBT community even though he did more on his own that all of those people combined. They tried to make it like he dropped the N bomb in the middle of his talk. It was CRAZY how much they hated him. The difference is Dan Savage decided his career depended on staying in the good graces so he caved in and threw himself at the feet of the TRA mob. He had to come up with excuses about a different time etc... They still hated him for a long time afterwards and perhaps he just faded away because JKR popped up as the new "big bad" and she refused to cave in to their demands.

Crafting premier business strategies entails meticulous analysis and innovative approaches to stand out in the market. When considering retail giants like Dollar General vs Dollar Tree the distinction lies not just in products but in business ethos. Crafting premier business in this landscape requires balancing quality, affordability, and customer experience. It involves understanding unique consumer needs, adapting swiftly to market dynamics, and maintaining a competitive edge through strategic differentiation. Interesting story of the Spanish Flu Epidemic 1918-20 and how it stopped = the exact same "masking" and isolation for everyone mandated by harsh laws and then one fine day a newspaper ran a story with huge picture of the California elite at some huge hotel gale room and big wigs and movie stars and politicians at a grand banquet and all gathered together close and not one single mask anywhere. The public outcry of that picture meant the mask rules over. And then the end of the pandemic also over.

Praga, Restoran

🚫 Permanently closed

Historic 1870s restaurant, one of the most luxurious in the city in Tsarist times, rebuilt numerous times. One of the few major restaurants in Moscow in the Soviet era, when dining establishments not run by the state were forbidden.

Restaurant "Praga", con. XVIII century. , 1906, architect. L. Kekushev; 1915 add-in and change the façade, architect. AE Erichson, 1954-1955 renovation, architect. B. Sobolewski.

Original three-dimensional arrangement established in the era of classicism, this still reminds rotondalny volume on the corner of the building. In 1906 it was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style for a first-class restaurants S. Tararykina (from this time survived granite facing entrances and entry). Once again rebuilt during the neo-classical architect. A. Erichson. Then, in addition to the construction of a cinema and restaurants are saleroom. This restructuring has pointed his classic decorative and compositional traits. Open terraces and pergolas on the roof, the use of stucco decoration of vine motif figuratively anticipate spa buildings of the postwar period, the Stalinist classicism.

What bothers me about this entire story = (1) this is Texas and there is no "duty to retreat" laws there. (2) That he was plainly protecting himself from imminent deadly threat and (3) a jury convicted him. Just goes to show that even in hard Red states a patriot can still get fucked up by a crusading DA who hates it when citizens kill a threat instead of being an unarmed victim. DA people seem to like those kind of people.

Bullshit Blowback | The latest crisis in Georgia is an example of Western "elites" building echo chambers feeding them their own delusions by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

Instead of rationality, they display a consistent pattern of being delusional with hubris, constantly overestimating their own standing and capacities, mistaking their wishes for reality, and, in general, misreading the global room we call humanity. Clearly, a complete theory of this epidemic of Western “elite” delusion is beyond a short essay. There is no doubt that is has something to do with having had it too easy for too long while wielding too much power far too easily: Hegemonitis, as some observers have aptly called this syndrome.

I think that the Western elites have become drunk with their delusions, especially after the end off the Cold War.

But what even the critics of such dishonest and self-defeating strategies do not pay enough attention to is another effect: The prancing Western politicos high on their latest “color revolution” trip (a historic city center preferably in winter, after dark, or well-fumigated by the smell of burning tires and a touch of tear gas; enthusiastic crowds who don’t know any better, wrapped in mass-distributed EU flags; a speech giving you that “Kennedy in West Berlin” high; a brave march when you know you would never be touched by the police because that would be a scandal – you know the drill…) are not merely annoying. Unbeknownst to them, they are also very symptomatic. For having its own bullshit about its own “value”-“garden” superiority echoed back to it by those too inexperienced or dependent to know better is one way in which the West has made itself so very, very stupid.

The reality is that the US doesn't care about the Georgians - what they really care about is trying to get a puppet in Tiblisi to open up a second front against the Russians because Ukraine is losing badly. The reality is if there is a coup regime and it goes to war, it will lose badly to the Russians - far worse than 2008. The US is merely using the Georgians.

Leftist political parties in several countries have led calls for peace between Russia and Ukraine and have stoked the debate over whether the new military spending could be better spent on health care or social programs.

That's why the left is being persecuted by the ruling elite.

I think that after this conflict is over, we are going to learn that the Western world spent far more than is commonly revealed on a losing war with Russia.

I agree with you, because God gives the people a leader that matches the nation's spirit. That does not mean his physical appearance, such as his skin color, is the image of the people.... but his spirit is the representation of the people.

Joe Biden has a reputation of being forgetful and falling down. America in general is the same. The once-great nation has forgotten God and is now falling.

u/GuyWhite is one of our resident race dividers.... he tries to incite hatred against people based on skin color alone. It is the desires of the man's heart that defines him, not his race. He has blackness in his heart but he calls himself white. And I pray he would repent before it is too late.

Honestly that's fucking hilarious.

I need to add in my performative hate for this author in case any of the people reading it disagree with her views enough to get upset over me writing fanfic in her world. Like if anyone hates her that much they wouldn't be reading it? The really funny thing is I don't think she'd care beyond breaking them by saying "thank you for supporting me and my views by continuing to write things and generate interest in my franchise"

That rewrite is funny as fuck though. Because in that case aren't they going the whole trans medicalist route and only saying that they're valid if they take the potion? What happened to you don't need dysphoria to be trans? Seems like that author is a transphobe on the level of Rowling to me.

I read fanfiction (it passes the time, and it costs nothing) and I've run across more than a few authors who openly proclaim their utter loathing for Rowling and view their continued use of her material as somehow "taking it back" for the oppressed people she's supposedly advocating the genocide of. They really do make the central aspect of their lives this woman and her refusal to validate the mentally ill, the fetishists, and the predators.

(One guy actually went so far as to rewrite something like 1/3 of a 10k-word chapter just to put in a massive "take that" against Rowling with a totally irrelevant digression into how one of the key characters is actually trans and thanks to a magical potion is able to be their "correct" gender, and how trans people are actually really common in magical society thanks to this potion.)

You ever know someone who's not necessarily "unattractive" but you have absolutely zero sexual attraction to them also? Like, you could never see yourself sleeping with/dating them, but you can't explain why, like they give off a "sister" vibe? Am I the only one who sometimes experiences that? by Mcheetah in Random_Shit

[–]Mcheetah[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Alternate explanation: These people are trans and pass well enough to trick your eyes but not enough to trick your brain and subconsciously you can tell there's very subtle anatomy clues and hints to let you know they're not the sex they're pretending to be which is why they can "look pretty" but you wouldn't want to sleep with them cause they're actually a man and something about them (slender hips, slightly large jaw, extended brow, etc.) is telling your brain that.

This person is not trans, though. She's 5'6"-5'7" and her voice is extremely feminine; no man can sound like that.

Richard Dawkins convinced me that Christianity was a lie. Now I'm seeing him talk about how being transgender is a lie and that we're insane. He's a biologist so he knows what he's talking about. That's why they hate her so much. She agrees with them on 99.99% of things. Therefore she is the worst because she 'betrayed' them.

Honestly it's nuts to put that much thought into any author. She wrote a book, she's not obligated to agree with you on every point just because you never branched out into other literature. I do think that's part of it, they see her as 'tainting' the only book series they ever read.

It’s not surprising that they’ve used this too.
