Male voices on GC by woodrup in GenderCritical

[–]fogellegof 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I, personally, am glad for everyone who stands up for women in this fight, doesn't matter which sex. The GC sub on reddit was a place for women to discuss gender from the perspective of women. It was about centering the voices of women, because there are very few places where this is possible (and those are fought hard for and hard against and, as you saw, destroyed by men). Maybe, after our wonderful mods have created a new forum to discuss, there will be a sub where everyone can discuss this kind of bonkers ideology. In general, e.g. on twitter and on other platforms, your voice is very welcome and important, but as the original GC sub was only for women, please continue reading, but the discussion itself should stay women only. There were plenty of other subs like https://www.reddit.com/r/GenderCriticalGuys/ which ironically was not banned, which would be the right place to discuss. Tl;dr: GC should stay women only, but please raise your voice [everywhere else] where you see injustice against women. It is very much appreciated (by me at least).

Told my friend TIMs have male priviledge. They (non-binary *eyeroll*) said I triggered them and now they want to have a conversation with me about our friendship... oh lordy by bradjohnsonishere in GenderCritical

[–]fogellegof 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

"TiM" means "Trans identifying Male", i.e. trans woman. And they sure have. I've seen some posts about guys bragging around that they are just "girls" in their spare time and normal men in business, because they are taken more seriously. (rly?!). But I could think it could be possible that a well passing TiF = trans man could have male privilege at first.

Everyone knows the difference, especially men. Why else would so many men stand up for and support TiMs but never women?

I don't understand the "invalidate trans people" thing. by fardareismai in GenderCritical

[–]fogellegof 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's a hatecrime to 'invalidate' ones identity. I don't think you can't invalidate a person, either, but I'm not an english native, either. I like the example of atheism: If I say there is no god, does it 'invalidate' every christian? No. It just means that I don't believe in what others are believing. But in terms of gender ideology, no second opinion is allowed.

What can we do about "inclusive?" by threefingersam in GenderCritical

[–]fogellegof 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

In terms of pedagogy, it means that e.g. the 'weaker' pupils shouldn't be left out in favour of the 'stronger' pupils. In terms of sociology, it means that e.g. those who were excluded from society before are included into specific sub systems.

Yes. They are afraid because they know we're right. And the excessive banning and silencing motivates more and more women to speak up, if it's in real life or on facebook and twitter. I have hope.

Thank you for writing this! I feel similar about /r/GC. It gave me so much information, resources, debates, insights and arguments; it was my first real contact with radical feminism (even though all the 'oldschool feminism' is radical feminism). Through that, I became very firm in my point and was able to discuss the issues and peak so many people, and it's getting more day after day. Thank you for fighting for your sisters in spain! I wish you the best of luck!

Just last week I talked to my mother - my parents live in a non english country in a small village. Even they heard the JKR thing and didn't get it, so I explained it in great detail and she couldn't get it how the world has gone so crazy. But to know that even there, in this tiny village, it was covered by media and it spreaded the word, gave me lots of hope. The people aren't as stupid as one might think they are. And even if "the media" here was mostly very critically against JKR, most people I talked to didn't get it and read JKRs statement and had the feeling like most: "If stating biological facts is transphobic, than maybe being 'transphobic' isn't a bad thing". Which was the reason for the rising of GC reddit (and for the banning).

My solution is to speak on a rational level. Most of my (closer) friends are somewhat political, but not 'SJW' or TRA. In the last 2 months, I had four very long talks with four of them; it organically came to the topic and then my rad fem introduction 101 began. All were lengthy talks, and each time, my friend(s) were pretty shocked about what it really means if there are no rights and there is no safety based on sex left. All of them had the usual position ("everyone should live their best lifes freely") before, like me and many others here, until I pointed out on which points the lines are crossed and that the safety concerns of 51% of the population are being ignored for catering mens feelings. Those were very emotional discussions and I peaked all of them, and now it is wonderful to speak freely with them. And now that I've opened their eyes, at least two of them often come to me with issues or observations and especially the JKR case re-peaked them, because they saw what's happening with their own eyes.

To be honest: I think most people are on our side, especially those not involved in social media or politics. It's just common sense. But either they are afraid to say it because it's not PC to say a man isn't a woman, or for those 'normals' who are not involved in lots of debates it's so obvious that it doesn't need to be stated, because... a man isn't a woman.

Reddit banning GC caused me to Peak by PostmodernJukebox in GenderCritical

[–]fogellegof 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, all the logical fallacies, the inability to explain basic concepts on which they base their claims on are ridiculous (e.g. I and lots of others often 'wondered' or asked what a 'woman' is, if not the material reality of being born into a female body, but no one ever gave a real answer beside "it's a feeling", and often it's deemed phobic to even ask). How can anyone take this seriously?
