This meta-analysis paper by Stanford epidemiologist says the IFR, the Infected Fatality Rate, the only number you should care about, is about the same as the flu.

When limited to people <70 years old, IFR ranged from 0.00% to 0.26% with median of 0.05% (corrected, 0.00-0.23% with median of 0.04%). All IFR estimates in people <70 years old did not exceed 0.1%, with the exception of New York, Wuhan and Milan.

i.e. it's blown out of all proportion to it's danger, IMHO.
