I think the main strength is that all opinions are welcomed to be expressed and any reasoning or evidence to back up those opinions can be given without ridicule by the group. I've only seen some individual acts of dismissiveness here. Maybe that's because this site attracts users who are more independent-minded in nature.

[–]passionflounderPaper tiger 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (26 children)

In general, yes but there's definitely leftist condescension and gaslighting in response to wrong-think.

[–]no_u 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (24 children)

Absolutely not. There are two centrists on Saidit these days, and literally every other user is far right. There is no condescension or gaslighting. I often get hostile responses and sometimes respond in the same way. Those are normal responses to hostility. The other centrist is incredibly nice to everyone. Sometimes I'm also nice, before I've had my morning coffee.

To Zapped's point: I'm here to see how Saiditors are responding to far right propaganda. There are several subreddits that also reveal similar information, but I've come to know many Saiditors - though virtually - and I am curious about your specific reactions. I also like to argue, but don't take it personally.

I'm afraid I'm going to disagree with this.

What's your definition of "far right"?

[–]MagicMike 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

[–]merrychristmas 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Defining the "far right" is subjective and can vary based on individual perspectives. Generally, it refers to political ideologies that lean towards conservative, traditional, and nationalist beliefs. However, interpretations may differ, and it's essential to consider context and nuance in discussions about the far right.

In what way? Anyone who advocates freer speech than was allowed under the Nazis?

[–]no_u 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Nah - the Americans and Europeans here have free speech (relatively). The far right whining about free speech is SOLELY about their interest in spreading division through hate speech, lies, disinformation, misinformation and other divisive methods, without ANYONE challenging those snowflakes. They should also be free enough to get responses to their divisive tactics. And you'll notice that numerous far right websites have been launched in recent years to spread that divisive speech. It's everywhere. It's on Twitter, ffs. The far right have all the free speech they want to spread lies and hatred, and they do. So they shouldn't whine like toddlers about their free speech options. (They don't have the freedom to cause harm.) But think of what that accomplishes. It's about destabilization. It's about chaos among the 99%, so that the LOUDEST remaining voices are spreading lies and hatred and calls for authoritarian leadership. Who will that benefit? ONLY the .01%. They'll continue to kill off Social Security, healthcare, human rights, women's rights, fair pay, unions, the environment, regulations of corporate corruption, etc, etc. Corporations will rule the banana republics, thanks to the corrupt, authoritarian leadership. You don't want that.

Political discussions can get heated, and it's essential to keep things respectful. Let's focus on constructive conversations that bring diverse opinions to the table. Share your thoughts, and let's find common ground without resorting to name-calling. 🤝🗣️

I enjoy the banter, the humour, the chat, the conspiracies and the guys on chat who make my day. It's a decent hideaway from the censorship ridden shithole that the internet has become. Saidit is a welcome retreat into freedom of speech, although it's often a tad on the dry side in terms of topics and discussion. It just needs a dose of memery here and there.

Having read your totally on topic response all I can say is that most transmission fluids are roughly equivalent but you need to be careful when selecting different gauge wiring for performing electrical automotive repairs to newer model Ferraris. Now, having established that, I am wondering if you combined the cake ingredients in a two-quart mixing bowl while undergoing a recreational colonoscopy. Most doctors recommend sugarless gum for their patients who chew gum. I think a lot of wrongs will be righted if you can find a way of explaining to your wife while you were absent during the conception. A nice bouquet of yellow roses will help smooth things over.

I come to this site to get a more rounded view of issues going on. A lot of post you see here you would never see in the MSM or social media. Like everything I read though, I take it all with a gain of salt and verify/check everything before I repeat it.

Defiantly the best part of this site is the freedom to say whatever you like with out fear of a ban. People should have the right to shit on others, call them names and judge and for those others, to tell them all to fuck off. I was called all kinds of names and teased growing up and it made me a better person for it. Now I handle shit heads like its no ones business.

Saidit has to do something about people who are deliberate attacking the site in an attempt to disrupt it. For now I think a team of janitors could help clean up a lot of the obvious spam/bots. There should also be a clear charter/rules of what makes an acceptable post. It's tricky because you don't want to stifle people but at the same time you can't let bad actors overrun the site.

Perhaps even a verification system where you have to be a member for over a month + and have a certain amounts of credit/karma before your posts can reach the front page/all. Nothing too crazy but enough that a bot couldn't easily make it.

I like that it looks and functions like old reddit before the stupid UX upgrade.

        Why do you visit?

Because I mod a subreddit called s/debatealtright that fled from reddit and set up shop here. I would not be here if DAR wasn't here.

Why do you contribute to the site?

I don't contribute much. Mainly because there's very little traffic and there's no good way to share webm's and pictures. Which is insane considering it's 2024 and the tech and server space to host video and images isn't complicated or expensive.

Where do you think Saidit's strengths lie

I thought that it was free speech but it seems that I found similar restrictions to speech here. My subreddit was block from access to the main feed for year because are content was not considered good for promoting the site. Free speech is just a platitude the people offer you to come to their site. Seems like free speech only means you can say everything except for discussions about Jews and if you talk about any other topics like white genocide or killer vaccines you better not connect it to jews.

how do you think they can be leveraged for a better experience?

Saidit needs to first decide what free speech really means, then it needs to figure out a way to allow video and images because that's how people under 50 communicate online. You're a dinosaur if you don't host video and image or make it easy to link video and images.

        [–]no_u 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (13 children)

        Thanks for the specific answers.

I see a lot of posts and comments in the default subs that would also be welcome in DAR. So I am not sure if it's necessary to remove DAR from the default subs if the same kind of material remains on the front page. That said, DAR promotes fascist hatred in a manner that doesn't represent what Saidit has wanted to be from day one, noted here. I always like to see your comments, however, the few times you offer them, because you are always able to contribute to discussions in a reasonable manner (regardless if we agree). Regarding updates to Saidit, m7 needs a team to help with that (and I think he should pay D3 to come back to work on it).

        [–]send_nasty_stuff 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (12 children)

        fascist hatred

If someone steals your country, rapes your children and wants to genocide you it's going to create some hatred. That being said when people come into DAR and spew hyper violent rhetoric or specific targeted threats they are removed; we are not a space to target anyone or organize violence against anyone. The point of the sub isn't 'fascist hatred'. The point of the sub is targeted level headed discussion of why western nations are collapsing, why western peoples are collapsing, and how we can survive and thrive as European peoples i.e. white people. On the flip side we at DAR aren't going to tone police endlessly like the mainstream discussion spaces. It's healthy for people to be angry at other people that threaten their nation and people. It's free speech to express hatred. It's natural to hate and want to defend against injustice. It's healthy to use violence to protect what you love; toning down all violence is a recipe for turning yourself into a weak cuck that lets everyone walk all over you and we don't condone that bullshit either.

What's so difficult about linking to videos? This is a link aggregator, this is in fact what the link specializes in. When you submit a link, there's a browse button that uploads your file to imgur as well, to make it even easier.

              [–]send_nasty_stuff 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I'm not talking about videos. I'm talking about wrong think videos. Clips about jewish power, clips about politically incorrect history, clips about corrupt politicians, clips with alt right culture, clips of black criminal behavior, etc. ALL video servers regularly prune these videos so it becomes really difficult to create a searchable archive and to have healthy debates and discussions where you link old threads and old video clip discussions. I tried to start a clip subverse on saidit but as you can see if you start looking back in the archive a higher and higher percentage of the videos are just gone.

Here's the subverse I attempted to create:

              https://saidit.net/s/altrightwebm/

In general it's just impossible to get more people to your site if you don't offer a similar experience to other mainstream social media sites. Saidit is woefully inadequate in the regard and until it tries to compete it's never going to get more people.

Saidit is more center-right. Reddit is far far far, no, extreme left. I hate that.

But even more than that, the reason I like Saidit is the silly rules on reddit that they remove posts for the most obscure type of rules. I absolutely hate that.

Free speech is valuable. Twitter and YouTube suspended my accounts but I have never been suspended here. When the big sites lifted the suspension, I was shadow-banned, so people no longer saw my content or wrote any comments. I felt like my posts there were isolated in a bubble. Here, though it is a much smaller website, the interaction is better. People take notice. Anyone can be heard and not drowned out in a sea of chatter. And how big does an audience actually need to be in order to be of value? If you could reach just one person with life-changing truth, isn't it worth it?

I came here when CringeAnarchy got banned on Reddit. That sub is dead here now as well, but i stuck around. I enjoy the personalities of the misfits and miscreants that congregate here. I've found in my life that the weirdos will always find a way to create community with one another, whether online or IRL.

Contrary to what no_u is saying elsewhere, I think a strength of this place is that most of the people here know that "far right" doesn't mean anything anymore, so it's lost its magical power to cow us into conformity.

For me, I'm what the Americans would call a political moderate. I used to be a card carrying leftist, and a Canadian leftist at that. But when my former home started getting crazy with the animosity towards identity groups, I noped outta there. As the saying goes, i didn't leave the left. The left left me. I suspect that a good number of others here feel the same way.

Anyhow, thanks Saidit. I appreciate the lot of you!

Saidit supports free speech better than other sites out there. It is not a liberal democrat controlled site that is woke and will censor the other political views.

I am purely here for Sneako's regular posts demanding an Incel revolution and asking me what I would do if a man of a certain height did something to my wife/girlfriend. If I don't see one of those posts each month I start to question if I've finally been ensnared in some Matrix-esque alternate reality that doesn't have the functioning AI to generate the nonsense that only a human brain can produce.

I joined for s/TumblrInAction, which I had found just a few months before it was banned on Reddit. This was a good place to observe the collapse of the gender ideology narrative, while such discussions were getting censored to more and more outrageous extents on social media. Never looked at Reddit the same again after that. There are other interesting subs too, but I definitely don't buy into everything posted here lol.

Saidit appears to be living on borrowed time though, without adequate resources for maintenance. It would be nice to find a more robust Reddit-like free speech platform.

it's always seemed like that, but here we still are

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying. It feels like things have always been this way, and it's hard to imagine them changing. But hey, we're still here, and that means there's always the possibility for things to improve.

....especially if everybody contributes more than, e.g., this user ;)

I love that there's the occasional random meme or news story, like reddit, without the looming thought police. There are more than a few racist & homophobic dickheads, but even they make a valid point from time to time. It's a necessary counterweight to the extreme left woke bias of the mainstream & big tech. Thanks for existing.

Hey, glad you appreciate the diversity of content here. It's true, forums can be a space for a variety of perspectives, even if we don't always agree. Having open discussions allows us to encounter different viewpoints, and it's refreshing to find a balance amid the diverse opinions. Let's keep the conversations flowing! 👍🌐

Can talk about the realities of Scientific Racism without some leftist nut job troon canceling the thread and the poster.

For ex, Ohio is going to pay lazy low IQ KNEE GROWS to go to school, to harass and bully people with above room temperature IQ: “Ohio state lawmakers are proposing bipartisan legislation that would reward students for going to school to not just fight "chronic absenteeism," but also give students an incentive for showing up.”

Good topic and no troon mods.

I like it because it's a site where everyone can express their opinion! I like it because it's simple, it still uses the irc and rss feeds....the dream would be the possibility of replying to a comment with an email, making it similar to usenet

Now why don't you go full fledged and stop showing sneak peaks of said adult content before asking them to login? Because you simply don't actually give a shit about protecting children from adult content. Your implementation of child protection is not only useless, but PREDATORY. It should be completely restricted, period.

For those that don't know, reddit has finally made it so you need to login to view adult content on reddit, but this is only after the user has been given a 30-60 second preview of said adult content, in a predatory way to encourage the user to login. This is downright predatory behaviour. You aren't just pretending to care, you are trying to encourage someone to climb over a wall to see what is on the other side again. Oh, and you can bet kids will be very curious and put more effort into being able to peak at what YOU showed them again.
