Are you seriously going to chalk each time up to racism and religious intolerance?

You left out the "greed" part. When European princes couldn't afford to pay back loans they took from wealthy Jews, they would evict the Jews from their country. When they couldn't pay for their wars and their lifestyles, they would let them back in again and take out a loan.

No, they have been expelled from cities or towns or small local regions, over 100 times, mere local expulsions. There are far fewer actual national expulsions: about a dozen:

• England, 1290, a total expulsion of all 2-3,000 Jews from England, seizing their assets. This ban lasted over 350 years.
• France, 1306, King Philip IV expelled 100,000 seizing their assets. This ban lasted only nine years, reversed in 1315 by Louis X.
• Repeated in 1394 by Charles VI.
• The Alhambra Decree in Spain, 1492, forced 200-300,000 Jews to convert to Catholicism or leave the country.
• Portugal, 1497. King Manuel I initially intended to expel all 20-70,000 Jews in the country, but having realised that they had economic skills needed, he instead ordered their forced conversion to Catholicism. Those who refused had their assets seized (see a pattern here?) and were expelled.
• Hungary, 1360: a few thousand Jews were expelled for "religious incompatibility" and usary (money-lending). Reversed in 1364.
• Duchy of Austria, 1421, driven by religious intolerance.
• Grand Duchy of Lithuania, 1495, again driven by religious intolerance, reversed in 1503.
• The Arabian Peninsula in the 7th Century. After Mohammad's conflicts with Jewish tribes in Medina, the second caliph, Umar, expelled Jews and Christians from the Hijaz region (Mecca and Medina), displacing them to Syria and Yemen.
• Yemen, 1679-1680: Imam Al-Mahdi Ahmad expelled Yemen’s Jews (possibly as many as a few tens of thousands) into the desert (internal exile) after a Messianic movement alarmed Muslim authorities. Survivors were later allowed to return to their homes.
• Nazi Germany, 1930s and early 1940s. Driven by Völkisch nationalism, virulent antisemitism and a desire for Lebensraum, the Nazis attempted to expel or exterminate the Jews across Germany and the occupied countries.
• Iraq, 1950-1951: it is difficult to tell how much of this was voluntary, but the great mass of immigration out of Iraq did not occur until after a serious of false-flag bombings of Jewish targets done by Mossad agents and took the Iraqi government by surprise.

The same as other minorities who get expelled:

• be a minority
• have something the majority wants
• make a convenient scape-goat

Jews, as a minority religion and not an ethnic group, are especially vulnerable to this. Ethnic groups typically have their own lands which they govern themselves, or they get expelled and eventually disappear as an ethnic group. But Jews are found in many ethnic groups, they are not numerous enough to protect themselves like Christians and Muslims are, they don't proselytize so their rate of population growth is low, and they fall into that sour spot of "too many to ignore, too few to fear or respect, easy to bully and cheat". All these factors make them perfect victims. Same with Kurds, Allawites and a few others, but most Jews are westerners which is why you know about them but not the others.

Added to that is that some Christian sects falsely blame the Jews for "murdering" Christ (forgetting that Christ's sacrifice was at the hands of the Romans, and was part of God's plan -- had Christ not been killed, the whole plan would have been for nothing). As medieval Christians were prohibited from lending money, it was convenient to have a minority of non-Christians who could, but that led to resentment and hate. Not only were the Jews different (wearing different clothes, following a different religion) but we owe them money. Consequently the biggest haters of Jews were the mid-ranking land-owning minor nobility, exactly the people who had the power to perform local evictions.

The first ever national eviction of Jews was done by the English king Edward I. He desperately needed money, the Jews had been so impoverished by overtaxation that he couldn't squeeze any more out of them, so he did a deal with a Parliament made up almost entirely of mid-ranking, land-owning minor nobility: he would evict the Jews, take their property and any debts owed to them, and in return Parliament agreed to let him collect what was for the time an astonishingly large amount of tax, £116,000. In return the knights got their debts forgiven. (Technically the debts went to the Crown, but there was an informal agreement that the king would not try to collect them.)
