Your search functionality is better than BitChute already

And it has almost no content to drive it. Once content is up on it it should work way better.

I also got a commit accepted that lets you use block storage with PeerTube.

That's pretty cool. I'd think you would need quite a lot of scale to justify setting up block storage. But I guess you must be really handy with it generally.

Chinese has something similar with the use of dou (都). 其实汉语也有类似的语法。比如:

英语有读写的技能。她会读写

(很抱歉我的母語不是漢語所以語法的不太好)

her english skills

What he means here is your English reading, writing, and comprehension. However, he didnt capitalize the word "English". English should always be capitalized.

I recommend you ignore him as nothing he says is worth listening to or reading.

What an awesome response, thanks.

I'm able to get really good deals on vps's and turn them into a cdn.

So you just have tons of servers with like 30gb hard drives each? That's pretty clever. I would have expected you to be using block/object storage or something.

They claimed at one point to be spending $5,000 a month on Azure just to get the throughput needed (at that point you try caching).

I remember this insanity well. I was on there nagging them to port to linux for cheaper hosting... not sure if they ever did. But yes, they had to have been missing the boat on caching somehow. I imagine that Putt didn't have the dev skills to fix it, and the first dev was long gone. It's a good example of how tech decisions can absolutely cripple your whole company/site.

I dig your minimalist CSS... it could use a bit of polish from a designer person but whatever. I like your 2x menu and the hamburger customization options.

I've never heard of pic8 or jssocial, i'll check it out. I will start recommending your site in addition to PeerTube. Your search functionality is better than BitChute already. Here's my PeerTube instance I'm running for $10/mo. It's kinda dead, but I was one of the first American instances. I also got a commit accepted that lets you use block storage with PeerTube.

It's mostly for collecting videos that would otherwise disappear. https://tube.4aem.com/video-channels/fedfuckersinc_channel/videos (no a/b testing on my CSS and it shows!).

[–]x0x7 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well the hard part is finding creators. In terms of storage costs it's not so bad but it really is the only expense and the one that scales. I'm able to get really good deals on vps's and turn them into a cdn. For every gig of storage I need I get more than enough bandwidth, speed, and ram. I'm pretty good with database (and writing code that doesn't put stress on it), so I don't see myself running into the issues Voat had where database became their driving cost. They claimed at one point to be spending $5,000 a month on Azure just to get the throughput needed (at that point you try caching).

So the funny thing about the looks of the site is I decided to do AB testing. People decided they like like that background which I kind of hate. I made plans to adjust the weights every Monday based one what people seemed to like. And when Monday came around that's how the site ended up looking. Maybe they liked the dark background when the panelelements hade white backgrounds, and they also liked the slimmer look when there was a lighter background. That's why it's an experiment. I'm just seeing how it plays outs. Hopefully automatically adjusting the weights more frequently and less significantly will cause improve things. Automating that is next. You actually can take manual control over with the hamburger menu.

So how people discover my site. I'm not that anxious to get big fast. I share content. I have several users who upload and I try to share what they post on a few places mostly because I want to be encouraging to them. It's more exciting when your videos get views. The relationship to the creator is the one I realized needs the most nurture. But a byproduct of that is that people are going to see the site.

I'm also a part of pic8. I run jssocial.pw which picman uses as an image host even though its more like a free publicly accessible serverless environment. But I sometimes redirect his images to gvid (which he's cool with) so when people click on pic8 links, if I've turned it on, they're also seeing the gvid domain. I usually don't have that turned on though. It messes with the stats of the site though because jssocial gets about 1000x the traffic gvid does.

My goal is slow growth. Netflix stated in 2007, like a year after youtube. Nobody was using them then. The key is to not be the one with negative growth. So I look at my cloudflare and track if over 30 days there is positive growth or negative. If it's positive on it's own I don't really worry about it, and so far it's naturally positive on its own. I'd rather focus on development then driving tens of thousands to it. If I keep improving it, it should have that natural upward trend.

Really though getting uploaders is the key thing.

There are several reasons:

1) Unions - Unions stifle development

2) Restrictive labour laws. This makes hardware development extremely difficult. R&D loses money until a breakthrough is found. And probably still loses money after that

3) Military funding. Arpanet and all of the Computer hardware had virtually unlimited military funding at the start.

4) Lack of cohesion. This is the biggest obstacle to corporations. You cant mash 24 or more countries together and expect them to be able to compete with a single, giant, unified country.

Glad I can help. I am not really deep into the material, but not entirely unfamiliar either. And I have a thing for old books / scriptures in general as documents of their times. So it's not like there's nothing in it for me!

To clarify, there is nothing except the preface written by the government. It is only transscripts of found documents, with the only metadata added being the identification of certain authors via handwriting or other information. According to the preface, the documents have been published as a warning for bavarian citizens about joining an organization, or as is written 'sect' like this. At this time , Secret societies have also been recently forbidden and therefore been persecuted - which more than likely led to the collection of these documents.

A bit back to the OP: A good, open tool for reading in these 'Fraktur' typesets may be 'tesseract ocr' with a specialiced dataset, I think I used it for a book years ago. It's a bit fiddly to use (command line only) However, the difficulty would still lie in automated translation. The German back then - especially in written form - can be vastly different to the contemporary.

To your questions:

I) Yes, it's a really simple cypher, letters are replaced by one corresponding number each - you find according sequences of numbers throughout the book.

II) It says the used calendar is yezdegerdian, or persian, and lists the months names.

III) Yes, exactly

V) Talked about creating - what use it would have, how it should be organized etc. really briefly. They appear to be in negative terms with the jesuits. It is mentioned that the jesuits failed to overtake or abolish a certain committee which seems to please the author. Unfortunately a large chunk of this passage seems to be lost. The 'progress' in these parts seems to mainly mean installing members in good positions.

XI) No ritual guide, more like guidelines on how to handle new / prospect candidates for their 'leaders'.

XXIV) Turns out I misinterpreted something upon skimming - 'Quartblatt' doesn't refer to a quarterly magazine as I initially assumed, it's just a certain format of paper sheet. Old german is tricky. It is noted that instructions were given to a person leaving for a longer period of travel.

XXXI) There are a lot of number codes in these letters, hard to make connections without a full transscription. It seems they write about 'replacing' someone. Some member is thought to be a jesuit. Talk about a creating a secret circle of chosen persons, about 'using' someone.

XXXIII) Yes I referred to the cypher, it is really used a lot in these letters

XXXV) Some of the info might maybe useful in a certain context. One noteworthy entry describes again an inner circle, or 'other System'/'expanded System'. Any regular member of the order should under no circumstance know about it, and instead advance in the 'normal' order degrees. Members of the 'other System' have a certain key sentence, so they can identify each other.

XXXVII) The beginning talks about a possible chapter being founded. Interestingly enough after going through the journal, there again is talk about 'our System' in the second part

XLI) I might be mistaken again, it says a Freemasonic 'table', with the annotation it is found at the end of the book. As far as I can tell, it is not there though. Maybe it refers to the cyphers / codenames in the beginning

XLVI-XLVII) Again the 'System' is mentioned, also mentions Rosicrucians (not in good terms with them either). They talk about the persecution of secret societies in Bavaria. 'Rome' is mentioned which is a bit confusing at this point, because while it is the code for Vienna, no other codes seem to be used in the letters, maybe it's literally rome. Again probably needs a full transscription/translation.

Oh my goodness... you hero! There aren't words to thank you adequately.

I realise if you're unfamiliar/disinterested with the material it can be a bit strange - but as it's written by the Bavarian Government, I'm inclined to take it more seriously than regular old here-say!

So, as you said a lot of these seem encoded, making this rather difficult... but that is just the "evidence" - the majority of the book itself should not be written in code - as it was an expose (as I'm sure you know).

Before I make any decisions on which chapter is most important, I have a few questions about a few of the chapters, if that's ok?

I) This is an expose of their cypher - instructions on how to use it, I presume?

II) Does it mention "Anno Lucus/Lucis" "year of Light" - or mention strange years ie: "5700AL" - if so this chapter could be important, if not - slightly less important.

III) The city code names are used to decypher the evidence letters that come later in the book I presume?

V) Female order already in existence - or talked about creating? How does it mention the Jesuits? In positive or negative terms? (Is this still the Bavarian government's expose?)

XI) Initiation of new candidates? Is it a ritual guide or something?

XXIV) Annotation on a magazine, short enough to give a brief explanation? (It stands out (to me) from the rest of the "Chapters")

XXXI) Again, this stands out as you said "Letters, letters, letters" on most, but said this one seemed like local members plotting? What stood out to you?

XXXIII) "Members using I" - you mean chapter I? The cypher? Interesting...

XXXV) Anything revealing in this one, in your opinion?

XXXVII) "Letter, nothing interesting, travel to another chapter of the order" - this feels like something that would be encoded - they use metaphors for "travel" for just about everything...

XLI) What's the name of the Masonic book?

XLVI, XLVII) "Letter to someone important it seems, copy of the response to the previous letter" These could be interesting but likely useless without knowing the rest of the stuff inside.

If I had to choose a few that (given what I know) seem most important, I would presume:

(I, II, III as a grouping), V and finally (VI through XVII as a grouping).

XXXI seems interesting, about members plotting - as does XXV with someone wanting to quit - and XXXVII with its "Travelling".

XIX with it's self destructing compartment sounds good for a laugh though!

I'm not requesting all of these, merely prioritizing their possible value.

I'm so grateful for all you've done already I couldn't possibly ask you to slog through the rest of this, haha.

Have you tried to contact Google Books directly? Yes they are evil, but maybe they may be useful in this matter.

Failing that, find someone who is already insane and does this kind of stuff.

I have my grandfather's little pocket Freemasons book. It makes no sense with all its codes. Maybe one day I'll scan it and share it. I suspect others may already be out there available. My grandfather was no one special and 70 years ago everyone was in some lodge or other.

Hello, here from s/deutsch,

I skimmed through the book and made a quick translation of the headline or a summary of each chapter. Maybe I can find the time to do some full translation of certain chapters if something piques your interest.

The book is essentialy a collection of documents collected in house searches of a semi-high ranking official in Landhut, in the year 1786. It is scanned by the Bavarian State Library in Munich

It seems at a glance, to mainly reveal inner workings of the local chapters of the order around the time. And some rather common freemason-ish 'lore'.

Chapters:

I. A simple cipher used by the Illuminati

II. They used a different partition and nomenclature for the months

III. Codenames for a few German/Austrian Regions and Cities – used throughout the following documents.

IV. Excerpt from a member‘s directory, obviously code names

V. Different pieces 1. and 2. discussions about a female order 3. some letters about progress in the region, needs III to decypher I guess, mentions Jesuits

VI. Statutes of the Illuminati

VII. Reform of the Statutes for the ‚1st class‘

VIII. Some ‚Main Principles‘

IX. A bit about hierarchy it seems, more statutes

X. more moreal statutes

XI. something about new candidates, seems to require knowledge of ‚inside‘ terms

XII. Some formal oath

XIII. More statutes, documentation, secrecy

XIV. Questions to new candidates

XV. ceremonies, oaths

XVI. Oath

XVII. Initiation ceremonies of certain members

XVIII. Four notes with instructions

XIX. Different notes, secret self destructing compartment (lol)

XX. Thoughts about suicide, some letters

XXI. Cover of a book

XXII. Long Essay about society, civilization

XXIII. Cover of a manual or something

XXIV. Annotation on a magazine

XXV. Letter, seems like someone wants to quit

XXVI. Letter maybe to an artisan

XXVII. Excerpts from letters

XXVIII. More letters

XXIX. Letter...either there‘s something encrypted in all these, or they are the most boring correspondence ever

XXX. More Letters

XXXI. Handwritten notes, maybe some of the local members are plotting against each other

XXXII. A huge lot of letters

XXXII. (is used twice) another letter

XXXIII. Another letter, two prospect members with lots of money for ‚books and experiments‘, some information about members using I.

XXXIV. More letters

XXXV. Journal entries – Seems like the local order was kind of in a set-up phase

XXXVI. More letters

XXXVII. Letter, nothing interesting, travel to another chapter of the order

XXXVIII. More letters

XXXIX. Letter, possibly mentioning international districty (or cyphered again)

XL. More Letters

XLI. Cover of some freemason book

XLII. More letters

XLIII. Letter

XLIV. Letters

XLV. Letter

XLVI. Letter to someone important it seems

XLVII. Copy of the response to the previous letter

XLVIII. More letters

XLIX. Cover of some instructions or something

I want a contract going forward where I have some sort of redress, when the site claims ownership of subs built by countless thousands of hours of user contributions because it does not fit their leftist/globalist/feminist/whatever game plan.

We've thought about offering all of our public data as a big download that gets updated daily or weekly or whatever, maybe as a torrent or something. And most reddit API tools, like content archivers, should work fine here with a bit of tweaking. Is this the kind of redress you mean? Or like some kind of legal statement in our terms of service? We're not interested in having rights to others' content.
