I'll let him speak for me too. In my opinion I am normal. Although some people who know me may disagree.

Why are you going to lie to these poor people like that? We're not normal, and most of us aren't people either.

You'll find that, even though you're allowed to say that stuff here, most people won't be that interested in replying to it. It's frankly quite boring once it's no longer taboo.

I've been wanting to completely ditch Reddit for a while and this seems to be the best of the alternatives. Will at least be hanging here for the next couple days.

      [–]Evola 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (22 children)

Why did you stay so long? Specialized interest hobby groups are usually the last thing people stay for I reckon.

      [–]neovulcan 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (15 children)

Thanks to the sheer population of Reddit, there's anywhere from dozens to thousands in niche subreddits that might not even exist on alternative sites. For instance, /s/explainbothsides has an overmoderated Reddit counterpart but the Saidit side has had almost no activity in the past year with 10 subscribers. We have an /s/stargate, but there's literally nothing there compared to the Reddit counterpart that is actually a pretty positive place. Not every sub on Reddit has gone to shit, and I still hope the trend reverses itself.

        [–]magnora7 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

I agree, but it's also good to get those niche hobby subs started with some seed posts, so when a switchover happens it's not a cold-start

        [–]LarrySwinger2 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Could you make /s/all the default frontpage for both guests and logged in users? There's little point in submitting to a small subsaidit with the current settings. It was okay initially but this is a side-effect of users not getting subscribed to subs automatically.

        [–]magnora7 15 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

No, sorry but I can't make that change. Unfortunately, what happens is people make subs with very questionable names and then upvote themselves and those subs to the front page daily for weeks, and begin posting actual legitimate news in those fringe subs like it's the main sub for the whole saidit website, and then over weeks and months new users see awful sub names on half the posts everyday and it absolutely drives people away.

It's a way to subvert the website, by making one fringe extremist sub take over the front page. And it's very hard to get rid of once it takes root. This has happened twice. So we have it this way for a reason. I wish we could have it defaulted to /all without this problem occurring. However I totally understand the desire for easier access to information.

That's why we added functionality so users can change their frontpage to 'all' by default in the 'preferences' button by your username. Guests without a username who want to view it can go to https://saidit.net/s/all as well. Thanks.

I really wonder what kind of group of people would go to such lengths to subvert this good website

        [–]KyleIsThisTall 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Can you list those awful sub names?

        [–]bucetao6969 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

One of the ways you can stop /s/All manipulation and is something reddit did is not allow sticked threads to get to /s/All

        [–]Zednix 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hobby subs are the reason I was Reddit and a couple of other sites like here or Scored. TD being nuked was a big one for a lot of people. Metacanada closed down before being nuked by admins too but hasn't really re-appeared. I started going elsewhere after they banned Fat People Hate. That sub was great.

While interacting with the real world and engaging in activities outdoors can be beneficial for your well-being, it's important to note that virtual experiences and technology can also have their advantages and provide valuable opportunities. Balance is key. Spending time in nature, socializing face-to-face, and engaging in physical activities are all important for a well-rounded life. However, technology and virtual experiences can offer educational resources, connectivity with others, and convenience in various aspects of life. It's all about finding a healthy balance between the digital and physical realms to lead a fulfilling life.

        [–]MelvinDelvaney 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Alex, a 24-year-old autistic individual with a unique set of preferences and challenges. Alex possesses extraordinary talent when it comes to mechanics, specifically Craftsman mechanic tools. However, being around farm animals is a significant struggle for him.

Alex's autism affects the way he perceives and interacts with the world around him. He often experiences sensory sensitivities, which can make certain environments overwhelming and distressing. When in the presence of farm animals, the combination of strong smells, loud noises, and unpredictable movements can be overwhelming for him, triggering sensory overload.

Despite his difficulties with farm animals, Alex finds solace and comfort in the world of mechanics. From a young age, he has been captivated by the precise nature of Craftsman tools and the satisfaction that comes with fixing and building things. Their mechanical intricacies and the order they bring to his life align with his need for routine and predictability.

Craftsman mechanic tools have become Alex's passion and a source of joy and relaxation. He spends countless hours studying their designs, understanding their mechanisms, and acquiring a deep knowledge of their functions. The tools provide him with a sense of control, clarity, and a means to express his creativity.

Alex's affinity for Craftsman mechanic tools has led him to develop exceptional skills in repairing and maintaining various mechanical devices. He possesses an uncanny ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, often spotting intricate details that others might overlook. He finds great satisfaction in utilizing his expertise to fix broken machines and vehicles, transforming them back to their functional state.

While his enthusiasm for Craftsman mechanic tools is undeniable, it is important to acknowledge that Alex's challenges with farm animals can be distressing for him and may limit his involvement in certain environments. However, with understanding, support, and tailored accommodations, he can continue to thrive in his preferred domain of mechanics while navigating the challenges associated with his autism.
