I thought we were discussing the small group of transgender folks. We're not discussing all of LGBTQ++++, because that's a different series of arguments. Those who aren't worried about trans people are perhaps 96% of the world's population, give or take 10+ percentage points. If you want to argue that - because there is a financial incentive to reach a small group of trans people - therefore marketers will spend billions on it - this doesn't work because there aren't so many of those people. Hence there isn't much marketing for them. Is there expensive marketing for LGBTQ++++ people? Certainly. But the amount of that marketing for trans people is also small.

I could ask you the same question about Jennifer Bilek. Why does she care so much about these false assumptions about marketing for trans people? She's produced videos and articles with the same faulty argument. She promoting her content because she's paid by Youtube and The 11th Hour and other places for her opinion about marketing for trans people. Does this matter to anyone? Before the US Presidential election, the only strategies Trump and others will try to use are attacks on 'woke' and on immigration to the US. Investors are paying $billions to promote the war on woke, because they're unable to effectively protest against all of the Biden Administrations' and Democrats' successes. So they have to focus on hatred and fear. That's all they have. Jennifer Bilek helps that group by spreading her opinion, which is to hate marketing for rans people. Did that marketing or that tiny industry harm anyone? No. Is she an authority on the subject? If she doesn't understand basic human biology, the varieties of human bodies, and the different kinds of people world-wide, I doubt she knows anything much about trans people.

Hope this helps.

How's this?:

Typically, women are of the female sex and inherit a pair of X chromosomes, one from each parent, and fertile women are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. More generally, sex differentiation of the female fetus is governed by the lack of a present, or functioning, SRY gene on either one of the respective sex chromosomes. Female anatomy is distinguished from male anatomy by the female reproductive system, which includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, and vulva. However, trans women have a gender identity that does not align with their sex assignment (assigned male at birth), while intersex women may have sex characteristics that do not fit typical notions of female biology.

Dune 2 (Doont in my house) Discussion - What Did Everyone Think? by UncleWillard56 in Movies

[–]YoMamma 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think it's very well produced, designed, shot, cast, acted, (screen)written, and directed. For me, it had to better than Lynch's 'Dune' (1984), and much better than Alejandro Jodorowsky's approaches. There were problems with both of those earlier approaches, but their inventive, surreal approaches are much better than the problems. Villeneuve's 'Dune' is much more attractive, rich in effects, but also less surreal. Villeneuve's worlds are somewhat realistic and without mystery. The wierdness is gone in the new version. The enormous sets and massive budget created an entirely new universe that's almost impossible to compare with the earlier versions. Both Lynch's and Villeneuve's versions are re-watchable and interesting, though for different reasons.

Interesting, if true. The number of trans people is so small that it would be a waste of money to try to appeal to them in the market. And I don't see any evidence in the article that points to references or anything I can check for accuracy.

I see that it's an 'extreme right' website, and considered unreliable, so that might explain their concerns about such a tiny market share.

Thanks for the link. I see that: "it is illegal for your health insurance plan to refuse to cover medically necessary transition-related care."

If I worked for an insurance company, I'd only consider "medically necessary transition-related care" as for infants born with intersex problems. That kind of surgery is done regularly, where - for example - a penis is removed from a female infant (Jamie Lee Curtis supposedly had this done as an infant, but it might only be a rumor). Perhaps hormone therapy for a male infant who accidentally has female characteristics. I cannot think of other medically necessary transition-related care for older children or adults.

The public isn't paying for sex change operations in the US, AFAIK. To my knowledge, insurance won't pay for it. In countries with national health insurance, I know of no gender reassignment support. More on that here.

Labotomies: the last recorded lobotomy in the United States was performed by Dr. Walter Freeman in 1967 and ended in the death of the person on whom it was performed. In Europe, the Soviet Union banned lobotomies in 1950 , a year after inventor Dr. Egas Moniz won the Nobel Prize for medicine..

In the US and other wealthy countries, those born with intersex characteristics normally get that corrected while in infancy. In poorer countries there is no correction of intersex characteristics. There are also medical problems for kids with gender dysphoria, which can be treated in children.

I would think the gender identity claims are different for everyone who makes them.

I think anyone 18 or above can do whatever they want to themselves, as long as they don't harm others.

The biological argument is much more significant, however, as there are many people who are born with bodies that are - entirely or in part - both male and female. In that case, they have three options: assign themselves the biological sex with the greater percentage in their bodies; choose instead the oposite of this as an identity; or choose instead to be 'non-binary', to identify as two or more sexes.

True - that lying under oath was the impeachable offense, a darn good one (though can one define 'sex with that woman' as not including oral sex?), but I don't recall Demonrats focusing on the oral sex. Crazy Republicans in my family tried to spin that as Clinton in a position of power using that power to take advantage of an intern, which in their Republican mindsets was 'rape'. So it was Repuglican spin, as I recall, focusing on Clinton's 'rape' of an intern. Perhaps I didn't know enough Demonrats and their opinions. That said, we were much less political in those days in the US.

Part of the answer to this question is the highly profitable US and European military industrial complexes that create wars and normalizes their activities through massive international news media companies.

I think some of these folded because of the lack of competitive management, though also because of the long tradition of buying and selling websites, whereby competitor websites eventually take over market share. For example:

In June 2011, Specific Media Group and Justin Timberlake jointly purchased the Myspace for approximately $35 million. On February 11, 2016, it was announced that Myspace and its parent company had been purchased by Time Inc. for $87 million. Time Inc. was in turn purchased by Meredith Corporation on January 31, 2018.

This is going nowhere by Titanic in whatever

[–]YoMamma 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

But it's this kind of dumb, ill-informed comment that makes new users like Titanic leave Saidit. Most people are centrists, with occasional 'right' or 'left' political agreements. What's killing Saidit is general idiocy.

For example, many on the so-called different sides of politics will agree that mass immigration to the US is a serious problem that's also the reason for the massive BIPARTISAN bill to fund additional staff at the US border with Mexico. Everyone wanted this. Trump did not, because he wants the problem to continue. He told Repugs NOT to approve it. And here we are, all agreeing that mass illegal immigration to the US is a serious problem. Some might want to defend Trump's actions (not sure why). Some might want to point out that Republicans are literally grifting demons. It can all be done in a civil manner (as was initially assumed by magnora7 and d3rr long ago) and new users would remain. But the assumption that 'libtards' are 'butthurt' about people leaving Reddit for Saidit makes as much sense as tits on a turtle. Any 'liberal' person wouldn't waste time at a website like Saidit. Hence their butts wouldn't hurt, nor would they have mental problems. Studies have shown that spending time at Saidit lowers one's IQ by 20 points.

Which would be true in ALL audits about massive projects that cost $24 billion over 5 years, becase of different methods and processes for each outcome measure. The most important part of the audit - in my view - is that there was potential fraud in the management of conflicts of interest and the overpayment of salaries, which might now be under investigation. Bullshit. This is obvious disinformation. The 'left' - everywhere in the world (including Iran) is NOT pro Iran government. But there are many who are pro-Iranians in general. This bullshit Israel/Republican disinformation genocidal propaganda is trying to fool dumbass Americans into thinking that everything in the middle east is really simple and that anyone who is not far right will "cheer" for any group other than the FUCKING Israel government SCUM.

Seems to me Iran proved that no one can take them seriously if their idea of a response was to send those random pathetic missiles that they must have known Israel could shoot down. Iran knows Israel have wanted to attack at a larger scale for decades, and were stopped during the Obama admin (2012-15) with a nuclear treaty, which was cancelled turing Trump's admin (2017-18) so that Israel could attack at will. Now Iran responds in this pathetic way, knowing what's likely to happen - more attacks from Israel, which continue years of smaller attacks against Iran. Whatever Israel does, the US will unfortunately be considered part of it, naturally. Non-government Iranians - the 99% - don't want this, though they would suffer the most.

One person commenting on BBC News from Israel said that previously "Jews" did not have the military capablity to "defend themselves" [by attacking Iran], but now they do, and they should attack [more than they normaly do]. So the Israel right wing see this as something for all Jews, something Israel needs to do. /u/Smalls provides in the chat/subscribed this list of the previous attacks.

TIL

Something I've perhaps learned on Saidit is that the disinformation of the far right has reached in its followers a level of psychosis. Today on the BBC news they interviewed a pro-Trump supporter outside the courtroom - a middle-age lady - who said genuinely that if Trump is put in jail 'we'll go home and get our guns and start a civil war'. Part of me wants to see them try and fail at that. But it's sadly much worse to have the normalization of some of their insane beliefs in the daily news and across all social media. And of course the rest of the world is watching this small group of schizo dumbasses, sometimes identifying them as standard Americans.

Why is your opinion important? Do you have an argument that is informative, significant, or reasonable? The politics of one person's 'what I don't give a shit about' isn't worth discussing.

It's NOT pro-war. It's to help Ukraine defend itself. Not that difficult to understand. Pro-war would be VERY different.

If you don't like NATO and want to remove the US from it, write to your congressperson. Putin and Trump also want the US to quit NATO. NATO countries are in NATO specifically to defend ithemselves and potentially their neighbors from Russian mass murder, mass displacement, rape, assult, invasion, complete destruction of cities, and much more, because we know the Russian government has no moral compass and will try to retake all former Soviet nations. NATO should help Ukraine with aid, as that's been their post-WWII mission. Without the support of the US, Ukraine (which is NOT 3rd world) would be Russian.

If it were an act of war, Russia could have attacked NATO countries. You can read about the history of providing aid to countries so that they could defend themselves. Why is this so difficult to understand? NATO agreed to help Ukraine with various forms of aid, which is obviously not an act of war. This has happened many times before, in other conflicts. When the US is officially at war with Russia, you'll know it.

If Israel accepts my peace plan, Congress will have nothing to do with it.

Do let us know how Israel's government responds to your plan

If Israel rejects it, the UN should impose a ceasefire. The resolution would be binding. See https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/un-security-council-demanded-gaza-ceasefire-what-happens-now-2024-03-26

It's highly doubtful that the US or Russia would vote 'yes' to a ceasefire order. France, the UK and China might agree to it.

No - Biden doesn't control the weapons agreement with Israel. Congress does that.

The President can influence negotiations, but that's all.

Here's an example of a US president's approach. Obama (mainly) and others stopped Israel from attacking Iran's nuclear program, by negotiating the 'Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action' in 2012-2015:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Comprehensive_Plan_of_Action

As you will see in that link, this involved Obama's initiative at several key stages. Israel was angry that this changed their plans:

https://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/15/world/middleeast/iran-nuclear-deal-israel.html

https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahus-threats-to-attack-iran-panicked-obama-into-nuke-talks-author-says/

And as you'll see at that Wikipedia link, The Trump administration killed those arrangements in 2017-18.

You won't see this discussed in the Pro-Zionist media. Instead, Israel will use the usual argument that it's defending itself by attacking several countries in the Middle East, thereby dragging the West into those conflicts, as usual.

Biden has already told Israel that the US will not participate in any offensive operation against Iran,

At the moment, because there is no Congressional approval for that

but Biden should also tell Netanyahu that Israel would be on its own if Iran responds to an Israeli offensive operation.

That would be GREAT, but Biden doesn't have the authority to refuse declaring war on Iran

However, as I previously said to stop the conflict Biden should offer this proposal to Israel provided Egypt agrees. Egypt will be given the West Bank enlarged by land equivalent to the Gaza Strip. In return, Israel will be given the Gaza Strip and land at least 3 times larger than the West Bank in the Sinai Peninsula. Some of the land will be adjacent to water so Israel can build desalination plants. The Sinai is inhospitable, and Egypt doesn’t have the technology to develop it, but Israel does. With its new land, Egypt can give it to the Palestinians, make it a state within Egypt, or whatever it wants.

That depends on what Congress wants

If Israel doesn't accept the proposal or it's not feasible, the UN should impose a ceasefire.

Sadly, the UN also cannot arrange a binding resolution

The only way out is for the US Congress, and other governments, to impose sanctions on Israel and threaten to fire on Israel if Israel fires on Iran. That's of course highly unlikely, given the Israel lobby's control of Congress. The only real deterrent would be the threat of a nuclear attack from Iran. I'm not sure that's possible or realistic.

I downloaded the article. Nothing in it indicates that data was 'manufactured'.

These claims of fabricated data are entirely from Lt. Col. John Shewchuk, but no source is provided as evidence. (Typical for zerohedge.com, which is a disinformation website.)

Who is Lt. Col. John Shewchuk? According to his Twitter page, he's devoted to refuting causes of climate change, spreading that disinformation across several networks he belongs to.

It's John Shewchuk who fabricates data.

As usual, zerohedge.com is spreading disinformation.

Who does this benefit? Who pays for this? Guess.
