Anyone else miss websites that went defunct?

There's 5 websites I miss the most that went defunct.

One of them was Sodahead. It went defunct in 2015. I went on there from 2012-2014. I was a Green Day fangirl then, but I also was a neoconservative back then. It was a website that had fun polls, but also was like a social media website. Overall it was fun to spend my free time after school there.

The other one was Topix. Went on here in 2012. A bunch of local lolcows and gossip on here. Got off of here when my dad told me to stay off of here. It went defunct in 2019.

Lolcow.org. was a spinoff website of onionfarms when the moderation went to shit on onionfarms. Splinter site of onionfarms and kiwifarms. Went defunct in July 2022 due to somebody's shitpost.

The next two are controversial. FYI.

Lookism.net. was on here in 2020 and 2021. Tried reacessing it in late 2022 and it seemed like it went defunct before then. I admired the incels trying to improve themselves, but loads of them weren't as ugly as they claimed to be. A lot of them obviously have body dysmorphia. Some of them trolled me, but it made me laugh.

Thepinkpill.co was a female only space, which is one of the reasons why I joined. The femcels here also were trying to improve themselves. I also think some of them probably weren't as ugly as they claimed to be, and obviously have body dysmorphia. Very tight knit community there. Also went defunct in 2022. Went on here in late 2020-early 2022

I miss pre-COPPA and cookie pop-ups web, pretty much the entire internet is defunct now.

From FTC.gov:

COPPA imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.

So don't collect age information.

I miss unmoderated forums (without spam or posts by bots) with a more sophisticated type of user. Another problem is that I am much more sophisticated now, so the amount of people that don't bore me, is approaching zero real fast.

I tried to run a small forum and filesharing hub once, but kept getting people posting CSAM on it, and I pulled the plug because I'm not moderating that sick shit, nor being held liable for it. Reporting that shit to the FBI just seems to go into the circular file.

I remember rotten.com. Not that I miss it but there were some pretty horrifying things on there. Pretty much the pinnacle of early 2000s internet.

It's not something I enjoy watching though I did a few times out of morbid curiosity. When I saw one of those Mexican cartel vids, that was it. It's still haunting me to this day. Do you remember Digg? It was one of the first link-aggregating sites. It became corporate then died; just like Reddit.

Reddit's hung around a bit more like a dingleberry you can't shake off. They've done a better job of enshittification by closing off the exits.

Not a site, but I miss games in Flash for browser pages. Without support, no devs uses old broken versions, and the alternatives for developing sucks. These games are dead, and this new mobile era sucks.
