Best part is proudly proclaiming disability access, then showing their $5 ramp.

Shouldn't a tattoo artist be able to tattoo on all skintones? I thought that was like something that was expected; that a tattoo artist should be able to tatto on anyone...

They should be able to, but making a special point to mention and separate "pEoPlE oF cOlOuR" will earn them extra woque points.

Why does it look so childish? Like a fucking daycare center?

Infantilizing. I get the idea of making getting a tattoo less unpleasant, but I shudder at the idea of ever having to deal with the patrons of this business out in the world, where everything isn't going to always be exactly to their warm, fuzzy specifications. How fast do they go from 0 to tantrum?

It's funny that they give out stickers that say "I was brave and got a tattoo" like... couldn't you just show someone your tattoo? It's not like they go away.

Given the poor judgment of many of these folks, maybe it's for the best (for the others) that they have an alternative to showing anyone what they had done.

"We're all autistic" - truly autistic (doubtful), or self-diagnosed? So many of them claim autism (all on their own, mind you, even after having made it through regular school just fine for years prior), because God forbid they're the dreaded and boring neurotypical...as if autism is simply a way to be quirky. Plus, being autistic lets them use that sweet, sweet label of "disabled", which is also a big thing with them - for more pity points, I guess? I wonder too if they call themselves autistic as a way to get away with shitty or infantile behavior. (No, of course I'm not saying all autistic people behave badly, FFS, but problems relating to others is a known issue with autism, and I can easily see people who fake it exploiting that fact.)

And speaking of infantile....that place. Sweet Jeebus. Hard cringe.

Say it louder for the back! Having social anxiety ≠ autism, but people who have a superficial idea of the condition think that's all it is. Autism doesn't go away as soon as you're alone, nor does it only present itself in socialisation, but most people who call themselves autistic online tend to only mention those aspects; self-diagnosing has truly run rampant these days and these kinds of people tend to let everyone know. Only a few people in my life know I have autism (I do not tell due to stigma and because not everyone needs to know; more people know I'm a lesbian), and I mask my behaviour well enough where people might think I have no issues socially on a superficial level, but conversation starters, interjections, and social behaviours such as cues and eye contact all need to be learnt and employed in a seemingly natural way, and it's so much more than social anxiety or 'being bad at small talk'.

Yup. Or sensory issues - we all hate itchy clothing or really loud restaurants, Gayden. Autism is more than that. God, it irks me that they've so muddied the understanding of this just so they can feel special.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

When everybody's autistic, no-one will be.

[–]wendyokoopa1 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Yup and then if that happens the ones that truly need advanced care for their form of Autism may not get it which will really suck. BTW I honestly like you don't come out about being spectrum because like I said above the stigma then the differental treatment. You know the who nine yards. Can't forget to add the ability to treat you(collective in all my points) like you don't have validity when you speak. So many examples of that from my romantic and other relationships. The worst part will be for the ones that need advanced treatment from Care facilities.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Usually people self-diagnosing online remain just that, as if they would some kind of actual official diagnosis to receive advanced care, but the main issue is that self-diagnosers are usually some flavour of activist, so they speak over/for us about something they really don't have a clue about/aren't affected by at all.

[–]wendyokoopa1 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yup. Then the gas lighting and when we call them on that bull crap they lash and tell us we don't know anything when this is OUR day to day. Our parents or possibly ourselves spent years getting us a diagnosis so we could attempt to forge a life. But nope they need to feel special because of their narcissistic sociopathy because their parents and siblings didn't love them enough so we have to suffer their abuse. I'm tired of it. I'm also fed up for other reasons but I think that's better suited for a thread of my own.

[–]wendyokoopa1 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nope they don't and never will outside of well I read a few articles I was linked to from Wikipedia. You mean the encyclopedia anyone can edit, and fill with sources that may be years, or decades old that may have been proven ineffectual? That suddenly makes you able to diagnose yourself and "help"(Read cause more harm) others on the spectrum? That Wikipedia? If so we would like you to sit down and shut up kindly. Or we can help you.

this studio is all kinds of cringe for me. I couldn't take much after the 70s barbie font, special certificate, sailor moon, rainbows everywhere and the cuddle dino. Now I don't mind the concept of a cuddle toy at times I have some and don't get me wrong I love sailor moon and but sometimes enough is enough EVEN FOR ME! I'd hate to see these children tolerate a mastitis removal. Seriously they'd never last. As soon as the freezing needle was brought out they start throwing the temper tantrum to end all temper tantrums. IF you need special mollycoddling for what is AN ELECTIVE decoration you shouldn't get the elective decoration. BTW I have the elective decoration and yes they did freeze it really well but noses aren't known for having a lot of nerve endings. AT least many of them will take themselves out the gene pool with their needs to forcibly sterilize themselves. Sorry but they made for a brief moment Sailor Moon unenjoyable(not that they haven't tried to do that already) and getting a tattoo is elective and from what I've been told it will kill like a mofo. You don't get a special "Certificate" for getting a tattoo that YOU paid to get. OH god sorry I'm cringing here. Try going through childbirth or like I said a mastitis treatment. I once spent over six hours with a mainline iv pick digging in to my arm and these children want der wittle tattoo to not hurt because they can't tolerate ELECTIVE PAIN? Shut my freaking mouth. I rewatched it and noticed how they said they were Autistics. Great Just fucking great. It bad enough and I'm sorry normies ALREADY think that ALL spectrum based are likely to become trans, or act like this. This is just going to make it worse for us. Plus for me all that pink is driving me to a headache and I don't mind pink. OH DEAR GOD Whoever these people are lock 'em up. For the good of autists everywhere lock 'em up.

      [–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I bet these are the idiots who wear 'autistic pride' shirts unironically. What they don't seem to grasp is the world isn't going to change to suit their needs, they need to change their behaviour and specifically their tolerance for sensory overloading things to suit the world and appear normal. I still can't stand to be in a room with smells I don't like or deal with unfamiliar tastes without some kind of anxiety/panic, but guess what: Tough luck.

It's the cards I've been dealt and instead of going to places that will mollycoddle me and make my tolerance worse which will only lead to meltdowns (not temper tantrums), I'm going to go to an OT and learn how to function in a world that isn't made cookie cutter perfect for me.

      [–]wendyokoopa1 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

yup I'm not going to argue. Sometimes I really have to struggle to make myself appear normal and work with people to adapt and compromise to things. The world isn't and shouldn't change to suit. Adapt maybe but All we can do as aspies/autistics is learn effective coping strategies and then when we feel confined find our type and just chillax for a bit. But that tattoo studio was sensory overload on roids for me. I don't mind pink, and I like I Said I love Sailor moon but that was too much. IF I was getting a tattoo or piercing that shop would be on my list of places to avoid regardless of whether it's run by autists. I Can't stand sjws anymore and these autists were living proof of weaponized autism. You know how it'll go with them.

If you can’t handle getting a tattoo, maybe you shouldn’t get a tattoo.
