How many "trans lesbians" are there compared to real lesbians by Sarahh in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh, this is a "They did the math" kind of question. Let's see. Starting point is all transbians are male. If we go with Kinsey's assertion that 10% of the population is homosexual (which I don't believe, but let's use it as a starting point), that means that 10% of transwomen are attracted to other males and 90% are attracted to females, so that would mean that around 90% of all traswomen are transbians. By the same metric, 10% of women are lesbians. Now, this doesn't account for bisexuals, and also Kinsey's figures have been challenged by people way smarter than me. But it does give you an idea of the proportion. As to why the percentage of the population that is trans seems to be rising, I don't think that's the case at all. Sure, more and more people are finding it easier to come out as trans. That doesn't mean they didn't experience dysphoria before, they were just closeted. And as a group they tend to be very vocal, very loud. And being a bit cynical, I would also point out they're a bit the cause du jour, precisely because of that same loudness.

How often do you guys meet other lesbians in real life? by Srime in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

With the pandemic going on, not that many. I think the most recent lesbian I met was a girl who joined my company around September last year. Funny thing was I only found out she's gay around Valentine's, when she mentioned doing something nice with her girlfriend. Guess that comes from not having much off-work socialising. Come think of it, she could be bi for all I know.

Before the pandemic, I would meet lesbians fairly frequently, but I was traveling a lot between London and Brussels, both fairly cosmopolitan cities with plenty of opportunities to meet new people, so no surprises there.

Often, very often. To the point my gf just laughs and tells me "you're doing it again". It is a bit embarrassing, tbh.

It's a bit of a leap a telecomm blocking me specifically as opposed to preventing the dissemination of material that is controversial at best and seditious at worst. And there are a number of federal laws that do apply to blocking websites, so it is not impossible. But I would like to read the law you mention myself.

Worst/best first dates you ever had? by PasLagardere in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I did! Ah, the good ol' days of TL... I don't have an issue with strapons nowadays, I actually love using one with my gf (both me using it on her and vice versa). But back then I was just too inexperienced. I knew what a starpon was, and I _was_curious, definitely. BUT, this was a first night out and there was absolutely no prior discussion or even hinting at using a strapon at all. If it had been someone I had been dating for a while and had had conversations about it before (as it eventually happened with a different girlfriend) then it might have gone differently. But she just came out with it expecting me to just smile and take it, and I was just not going to do that. I mean, it wasn't even as if she had walked out of the bathroom with the thing in her hands and asked if I wanted to try it, she just went all in (metaphorically speaking). So no, we didn't do it. I just got dressed, made some excuses and left. I met her a few times after that (we had friends in common) and yeah, it didn't really work out. She wasn't even cool about it, like I tried to make a joke to lighten up the mood, but she just gave me a weird, offended look. People can be weird sometimes.

Not the worst, but definitely one for my "gallery of horrors", was one time I went out with this girl I had just met. We went out for drinks, got animated, and went back to her place. She was very intense, and somewhat dominant, which was properly turning me on. So, we were in bed, already half naked, and she tells me to wait a moment, she was going to go for "something fun". She went into the bathroom and closed the door behind her. I'm not sure if she was gone for just two minutes or 15, I was in a bit of a weird place, turned on and wanting to keep going, so I was more than a bit impatient. BUT, I was also getting a bit of anxiety -- I had never moved so fast from meeting someone to having sex with her. And she was taking forever, which wasn't helping. And then, after what felt like forever, she comes out of the bathroom wearing a massive strap-on and nothing else. It was like 12 inches long and, er, anatomically correct: flesh colored, veins, the whole shebang. You have to know, at this point in my life I had never ever had sex with a strap on, and the only time I had even seen a real erect penis in my life was a) much smaller than that dildo, and b) not an experience I had fond memories from. So, when I saw her standing there with this thing on I lost it and started laughing hysterically and uncontrollably. Like, I wanted to stop laughing but couldn't. Mood was not so much killed as obliterated, she got very annoyed at me, the whole thing was a complete cringe-fest.

[Spoilers Inside] Imagine Me & You (2005) — Film of the Week by piylot in Lesbians

Loved. It. Particularly because about 75% of all lesbian films have a sad or at best bittersweet ending, whereas this one had what for me was a truly happy ending. I love Lena Headey and Piper Perabo, they had good chemistry (not necessarily amazing chemistry, but they felt good together). I've never met a London florist, but I could certainly see myself falling for one like her, why not? Also, fun fact, this was the very first film my gf and I ever saw together.

Were you bullied as a kid? by [deleted] in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I was bullied, but not often for being gay although it did happen a few times, the reality is that I grew up in very liberal environments and attended relatively liberal schools -- not quite woke, but open enough. Most of the bullying I received was from being too tall, too skinny or too curvy (lovely world when you can be bullied for looking like a stick figure one year and also for looking like Jessica Rabbit two years later), too bookish, being Canadian (in an American school).... Like u/FrostyNugs, I used humour to get past everything, and always had a bit of thick skin, but I have also discovered through counseling in recent years that the bullying did leave some psychological scars.

PDA by [deleted] in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think I was more comfortable when I was in my 20s than now (I'm 33). Might be that I'm a bit older now? It's not that we don't do any PDAs now, quite the opposite, but it's more what we do than how much. So, I'll be very comfortable holding my gf's hand, or walking arm in arm, or with my arm around her waist, sitting very close, her sitting on my lap, her head on my shoulder or viceversa, etc. The occasional long kiss, When I was in my early 20s, though, I would go as far as getting a hand under her clothes, much more kissing and heavy petting. As I say, part of it is maturity, I guess (not that PDAs are immature, but rather that you become more aware of other people and personal space as you grow older), but a clear element here is also the fact that over the years some of these PDAs have attracted stares and the wrong kind of attention. My gf is from Eastern Europe, and where she grew, PDAs between two women would have actually put her in danger, and that has influenced her to this day.

This is old news, sad news. What makes me laugh internally is that 99.999% of what this considers "lesbian porn" is actually "two straight women getting naked and kissing a lot and then having sex". I almost peed myself laughing one time a friend showed me a porn clip of two girls going at it with a strap-on, and one of them starts giving a blowjob to the other one's dildo. I was like "what the actual f**k?", and the other one was moaning, and everything. Hilarious! And 100% non-lesbian.

Who did you get crushes on as a child? by Depressed in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm very crush-prone. But I always crush on real people, or fictional characters portrayed by humans, never on cartoon or anime characters (with the one exception possibly being Kim Possible...). And I have never, ever crushed on a guy. Closest would be an intellectual obsession I have had with some men (Chris Hemsworth, Barack Obama, Brian Cox, and others) -- but it is entirely non-romantic and DEFINITELY not sexual. I just find them intriguing and the kind of people I would actually love to go have dinner or a few drinks with, but that's about it.

Are you child-free? by RedditHatesLesbians in Lesbians

[–]xv_xx 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Neither I nor my gf want children. We both have our own reasons -- personally, it's because I don't see myself as a mother, I think there are too many humans on earth as it is, I like my life the way it is now, my future goals are incompatible with having kids. And this might sound shallow, but I dread the changes my body would experience if I were to go through pregnancy.

But I don't dislike kids. I'm the youngest of four siblings. My two brothers and sister all have kids. I have three nephews and four nieces whom I adore. It's been killing me that I haven't been able to visit them since the pandemic started, and it will be months probably before I get to see them. It really breaks my heart, they are such an important part of my life. But I just don't want kids of my own.
