Erotic novels? by Pompadour in Lesbians

So only writing fiction then. Are you open to fan fictions? If you are let me know what lesbian couples in movies or books or shows that you were interested in, I might know a few fanfictions to share.

Strictly a novel, rainbow cedar was good , a lesbian novel by Gerri hill, not sure if it's a specific erotic novel but it has some sexy parts in it. Dessert hearts is also a very sexy movie and I'm pretty sure it's an old erotic novel.

I'm sure you know tipping the velvet and fingersmith by Sarah Walters. I think her books are some of the first things that pop up for lesbian books. I wouldn't classify them as erotic fiction. Though it's pretty steamy at times.

Do you have a genre that you enjoy more than others? Like scifi or fantasy, mystery?

By the way if you haven't seen it the BBC did a wonderful two part movie on fingersmith. I think it's still up on YouTube.

Hey thanks for going back and looking at the video, most people wouldn't take the time to do that and admit a mistake. I'm not surprised that it was blair who said it, since he/she is very into being in your face for video views. Could I get that link still cuz I'm not sure which video it is and I'd like to watch it.

By the way I so understand blair is hard to watch sometimes but she/he is calling out pedophiles and bringing people's attention to the bad actors in the trans community.

It was thwarted possibly by me. I may just not have been the right person to manage it. I tried having questions for people to try to boost engagement, maybe it came off like a requirement which it never was, but in the end people just were not participating or not as interested in the book we picked. I tried to make it a voting system and once we had our pick for the month I hosted files on a google drive to make sure everyone had access. Not sure how or what else I could have done.

If anyone else is reading this and wanting to start something like this up, hopefully im not discouraging you. I truly think it might just be I was not the right person for that.

Anyways I cleaned my room yesterday in an effort to find the lists. I found my old computer but I don't know where the cord when to charge it. I might get back to you later on in the week if I can't find it today.

Amatka - dystopian reality scifi book. Main character is gay but it's not about the romance. It really about her journey to find out secrets about her society. If you read it tell me what you think. ( It's a little weird at first but once you understand how the society functions it gets pretty interesting)

I was the user who tried to set up a book club that was stickied to the r/Truelesbians subreddit. I can go through some of the books I have read and send you a list of the ones I liked. I'll try and see if I can find my list that I was making when people posted their recommendations to vote on the next book.

I have another assumption, reddit hired a pedophile, because they knew it's easier to have an unsavory individual take the blame for the censorship of lgb voices.

I worked at a job that did this with a manager. Used her to fire all the workers and then replace all of them with people who care less about standards of care.

Similar situation to reddit. They bring in an unethical worker to do the unethical things they wanted to get done.

Not trying to stir up an argument but I'm making a point that this person is a cog in the massive wheels of Reddits unethical behavior.

I wish. Reddit hired "her" because of "her" ideology. "Her" qualifications, she ran for political office, reddit was hiring for a moderation position. There is absolutely no way they didn't google her name, that shows how deep reddit is into identity politics and wokeness. It shows that they are willing to work with pedophiles who claim transness rather than let lesbians have their own spaces.

So no I don't think we can ever go back to reddit. Not sure how overit is doing but this saidit page feels dead.

I hope you are able to see this since your account has been deleted.

I remember when we bought our f-150 truck we were deliberately avoiding the 04-08 engines.

"2004 Ford F-150 The 2004 Ford F-150 is infamous in Ford history for its amount of issues and unreliability. To date, there have been 16 recalls on parts, and the model is known for engine problems as well. Best avoid this one.

2005 Ford F-1502005 Ford F-150 Coming in at 14 total recalls, the next years’ model didn’t fare much better, and this one was reportedly a rushed engineering job after the 2004 debacle."

I've never felt an engine knock before and I'm Not really sure what to do in that situation. I definitely think a mechanic telling you not to worry about it is not very professional in my opinion. Or maybe he was trying to avoid working on that engine.

Sorry for the bad luck with the truck.

By torque-y I mean that you have to be careful with letting of the clutch and hitting the gas. Like it easily over revs and causes you to have more torque than needed for taking off.

Oh and being in forth gear at 1500 rpm( 30mph) is good for flat road driving on lonely roads but you should really be in third gear if there is traffic or any hills. If you don't have enough torque to respond to emergency situations where you need to accelerate and get out of the way you could put yourself in danger. I used to under torque by driving in higher gears and it is dangerous in bad traffic but I live in one of the most dangerous road driving areas in the states so I might need to accelerate to get out of something more often.

A few quotes from quora.com since I'm not the best at explaining this.

"So, for most engines the real operating range for normal driving is something in the range of 1500 - 3000 rpms.

If you're accelerating normally then shift at the lower end of that range — 2000 to 2500 rpms is usually appropriate. If you are accelerating faster then maybe 3000 rpms is a good shift point.

At normal driving speeds, say anything above 45 mph, the vehicle should probably be in high gear. Constant speed driving would favor around 2000 rpms as an ideal rpm.

If the vehicle doesn’t have a tachometer then your hearing can prove useful. Listen to the engine and shift before it sounds like it’s racing too fast."

"In a stick shift car, shift as per the speeds 1 gear 0 to 20 mph, 2 gear 20 to 30 mph, 3 gear 30 to 40 mph, 4 gear 40 to 50 mph, 5 and 6 above for cruising speeds. RPM depends upon engine type, fuel type and could be as pee the said speeds. If climbing a hill make the speeds 1.5 times more to compensate for the incline."

The general idea is that you adjust your driving style to what the situation is.

Automation doesn't mean that it's more reliable. It means ease of use and a smooth ride and possibly savings in fuel economy. With a cvt if you look at how the physical mechanics of it, you can see why they are kinda a bad idea. It's actually a steel belt in the middle of the entire transmission that rides inside two V shaped pulleys. The problem is that it's prone to wear on those v shapes and the belt. If there is too much wear in one area the belt starts to slip and can break off pieces( not good because it's in the middle of a super complicated transmission so you have to replace the entire transmission there is basically almost no mechanics who repair it).

A notoriously bad application of cvts is putting them in midsize cars. Nissan rogue has a really bad one. Since cvts are smart for fuel economy, car manufacturing of economy sized cars are moving to cvts. It's ok in a small car that won't carry or tow anything. In a nissan rogue however it's branded as a family car with the ability to pull loads. That causes massive wear on those v pulleys and failure of these cvts can happen within four years of ownership. Not great in my opinion.

Automation is not always better depending on what your talking about. Automatic transmissions have very very complex innards. In which many things can go wrong. With manual transmissions there is much less that can fail since it's simpler and mechanics can work on it easily if one part needed to be replaced. So longevity wise a manual transmission is better than an automatic and much better than a cvt. And if you are a smart driver you can save on fuel by rolling to a stop in traffic.

I have a story to tell you. When I went shopping for my first car I wanted a manual since they now sell for a little less( not popular), but have reliable transmissions if your treat them nice.I also wanted one since I thought it would be fun and I don't want my family members who have no idea how to drive stick borrowing my car. So I went to a few dealerships saw a few cars and came to one I really liked the price and mileage of (Toyota Yaris manual and hatchback). I went and test drive it with my father and the salesman was watching. I must have stalled the engine twenty times . I barely figured it out and by the end of it and the guy asked if I'd like to see another car.😂

We came back in the morning the next day and I bought it. I had trouble understanding what was being said by my father on how to drive it cuz he is not the best teacher when stressed, and it was very dark out that night. I still had trouble with stalling it out sometimes during the week, but after that it got better. You'll get better just takes practice and maybe look up someone on youtube with a calm approach to teaching.

That cars first gear was extremely torque-y so it took a while of driving for it to be smoother. If your car is new to you it could be that the individual who had it was taking off from a stop on 2nd gear and the clutch pad has uneven wear.

Oh and that has got to be the best car my entire family has ever had. It's not given me one problem since i bought it ten years ago. A little proud of it cuz that's exactly why I wanted this car and not another my father tried to convince me to get with a cvt transmission. Which after some research I realize it's probably not something anyone should purchase if you want to keep a car longer than five years.

Oh and to anyone who wants to work on cars know how to jack up your car, use chocks( use parking break and if you have a manual keep it in first or reverse depending on if you are on a small slope forward or backward[NEVER do this on a large incline]), use jack stands and have a failure back up. Like using a floor jack to just touch and provide a second point of contact. You are going under thousands of pounds of steel so be careful. Oh and don't be alone, have someone else who can get the car off you incase something goes wrong or have your phone with you.(But seriously don't do this alone without a means of getting help)

There are specific jacking points in your car manual but some of those recommendations for jacking points don't really make sense. Like jacking up by the differential is not a good idea but it's recommended by Ford-_-

Be safe and use your noodle.

Same I'd like to be more confident fixing things on my own and I might take some classes myself. Changing a tire is actually quite a lot more than most people these days know how to do, so be proud of yourself . I'd suggest watching YouTube videos and getting a general idea how the cars systems work together to provide movement and then focus on how those systems work. It might be a little easier if you understand concept before getting to specifics. Start with changing your own oil and replacing filters . You can then graduate to tackling smaller jobs and before you know it you'll be much more comfortable with it all. Youtube , Chilton's or Haynes manual( check your library, they might set you up with a account to access chilton's or direct you to their in house resources), your own car manual, and the sticker on the side of your door will be great resources for you to be able to do the work on your own. There is a code that will tell you what kind of parts your car is equipped with, so you can check your manual and see what fluid is needed. Oh and make friends with a mechanic who you can bounce ideas off of or ask for a quick favor to use a high power tool.( Always tip after with money or beer. Call to talk when they are sort of in business hours but when they are not busy)

For electrical work I'd say if something in your car just went out no precursor and it's a system like both headlights, or all the running lights, the horn only. That kind of thing is probably a blown fuse, in the manual you can look up which one it is. Pull it and replace with a working fuse. Sometimes it fixes it and your done.

Example - in my car I don't have a working front washer pump. But my back pump works. - it's probably not the fuse since the pumps are right next to each other on the washer fluid tank and probably are on the same line that goes to the one fuse.

What else could it be that's easier to check than just replacing everything. Check your line from the pump to the windshield. I grabbed a bike pump and squirted air both ways . No clog. So bad pump. I'm going to replace it when I get a chance to use the garage and hopefully that fixes the issue.

Make an account on the car's forum, there are a lot of people who are willing to help you trouble shoot problems there. Quick tip don't just trust any youtuber. Check the comments to see if the person massively screwed up. You can trust 1A auto and Ford tech Maculoco. These are experts and they give you info that leads you to believe they are experts( they know history of changing parts of the car, torque specs).

What feels like a long time ago I also wanted to get a small sport cycle and mount it to the front of the truck and go live in my rv. I Hope you get that cycle😊.

Edit: Oh and if you get more into working on your car get a code reader. Helps to diagnose a range of issues from the cars sensors.

I think that this situation now however is different.

I think the mods are quarantining that thread because they don't like the idea of lesbians voting for Trump and that it was becoming a little evident which side was really name calling, talking down to people who didn't go to college.( I really wanted to stay out of it but seeing that made me a feel like I should call out that individual for her behavior)

If I'm ignorant then educate me.Why are you engaged in politics if you don't know how to talk to the other side and convince them. You come at people with opposing views with a degree of self-righteousness and anger. If you want to change minds you need to relax and discuss things with them in a rational way. Be willing to take others direct evidence to your world view being skewed and rationally consider if you might have been wrong about something. Then share what you believe and support it with some evidence, maybe you will change my mind and others. I gave you so much information, biased and unbiased against what I believe in order for me to make a balanced evidence based claim of why I think certain things. You are the one that just keep saying the same thing over and over. Can I ask what does that sound similar to, what organization of people take things at a faith level and shouts people down when their world view is challenged? - Religion. You should be able to look at your political party and find fault discuss fault.

Your approach to conversation is pretty good evidence you have absolutely no idea how to debate and if I remember rightly you find debating "tedious". You must really have worked very hard to be a lawyer since you hate a central part of your job.- I am impressed, I don't think I would have had the will power to stick through not enjoying any part of my work for as long as you have.

To answer your question, I asked myself why I need to call you out.

I called you out because I don't like seeing people use a career as a way to stop other people from engagement in a political discussion. Your words - "I'm a lawyer so try me". You are using lies in order to avoid making a real case for your views.

I'm not a fan of people like you.

Even though I don't like you, I do wish the very best for you. I hope you are in a better place now with your family.

I disagree I think hiding behind new names will only make the small influence we have even smaller. You will have to explain yourself anyway when you say I am a ( new word). Staying with the well recognized word 'lesbian', at least gives people who are not part of the woke and gay crowd an understanding of who you are(we need hetero people on our side since we are a extreme minority). Words exist to convey meaning to others, why confuse things even more?

Will we identify as something other than women because men are now using that word? I won't.

Another important factor you might not have considered is that if only the gender critical lesbians have a new word, you basically just made yourself a useful target( you've marked yourself as the opposition). It would be like outing yourself as gender critical in a very public way. Do you think that is going to work well for any of the lesbians in liberal cities? I think that would make things worse for them.

I don't think we need to reclaim anything. Lesbian is not a territory it's a descriptor. It's who we are. If other people falsely use it, then they are the ones who need to change their descriptive words. Maybe we should have a campaign and send out short dictionaries of commonly miss-used words. ( Like woman, girl, lesbian).

And just really quick since this always kind of bugs me on lesbian threads. It is 100% of all women of child bearing age who get asked if they are pregnant( even women with hysterectomies on their files get asked). Doctors would get sued up the wazoo if they gave teretogenic medication to a pregnant woman. It has nothing to do with whether or not they respect us, but more with avoiding higher premiums for medical malpractice insurance.

You made a valid point in a discussion, don't let other people make you feel bad about saying your thoughts. It's a pretty good point that gay men and women define ourselves on our non attraction to the opposite sex and attraction to our same sex.

So why does it matter so much to other lesbians, when lesbians choose to discuss that they had no sexual experiences with men. I mean sometimes I myself wish I had dated them to be more experienced with dating.

I think this whole gold star thing ruffles feathers on certain birds. Which I don't think anyone who uses the term as a description even means to do. It's not a malicious judgement on other lesbians, it's just a word.

We are all lesbians.

I think people should respect each other and their life stories.

I was also assaulted a few years ago and I think for anyone to consider that part of your orientation/ identity is kinda fu**ed in the head. You define who you are.

I've only ever used gold star as a descriptor in conversation or as a light hearted joke with other lesbians and gay men. I agree with you, that it's mostly a internet conversation topic which tends to morph it's self into a measurement contest of how much more of a lesbian they are(which I think is pretty juvenile).

Even though that is the case, I think positivity about it is a good thing. If the gold star experience becomes more common place that would mean more women feel safe and empowered enough to fully express their sexual identity. I think that is a great goal to strive for, but even so there will still be women who will have experiences with men. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, people sometimes need to explore things to understand what they want in life.

As a gold star thanks for the support. I have never once used that as a way to make fun of other lesbians. Why would I? It makes literally no sense for anyone to do that, I'd effectively alienate most of the miniscule dating pool I'm in and also who is that big an a-hole to make fun of someone for that. I feel privileged to have been able to live in a time and place where I didn't feel pressure to sleep with a man or to marry a man to survive. I am lucky, not more worthy or deserving of the lable lesbian. In other ways I'm unlucky, I wouldn't consider dating men when I was younger so I never got useful dating experience before my mid twenties.

I feel like that's definitely a negative thing most people don't think about. That you effectively don't date when you are a young gold star card holder. Unless you were hitting on every girl left and right in highschool you probably won't get much experience.

It's been a few years since I watched it. I did like the movie but Finger Smith by the BBC portrayed the story better in my opinion. Handmaiden was definitely one of the better looking productions of a lesbian themed movie that I have seen. One thing though the sex did not look like lesbian sex to me it felt over produced to the point that it was cinimatic porn, I have also have never heard of women scissoring with benwai balls in( I imagine it feels like nothing , similar to a menstrual cup or tampon). I remember laughing thinking that they had those little bells in them, and they were clink clink clinking while fucking. That would be massively distracting to achieving an orgasm, at least for me. I'm a no music kind of gal.

Was in love with my best friend. Wanted to live together and not get married to any boys. Held the door open for her and talked on the phone for hours trying not to hang up.I punched a kid who kissed her. After she moved away I found some very intense friendships with a few other girls and had someone tell me once that I flirt with all the girls. Realized I liked girls in a sexual/romantic way when I was 11 after watching Imagine Me and You on hbo. I kept flipping channels so my mom wouldn't see what I was watching. I remember thinking that's what I wanted with my childhood friend. Who had moved schools a few years back but I was still pretty in love with her.

Currently In my mid to late twenties. I came out to my brother when I was 12, and my parents when I was 17, but not by choice. I had a okcupid profile and my father found it on my laptop and we had a long conversation about how he will "accept it". They still can't "accept it", my mother is always trying to convince me that "dick is the best" and my father has never referred to my girlfriend as my girlfriend and struggles to call her my friend. He generally talks with hostil tone when I mention her or me being a lesbian. I usually keep it to myself when at work unless someone is having a direct conversation with me about my love life or assumes I have a boyfriend or something. I don't hide it, but I don't shout it to the roof tops if you know what I mean. When I'm with my girlfriend I don't usually shy from holding her hand when we walk.

Omg I didn't notice the wedding toppers, that's hilarious. I think that this film really shows what some straight women think lesbian relationships are, friends who live together who sometimes kiss. It's almost like when they think about their hypothetical gay self they default to,"if I was gay this is how it would work. I'd be in a relationship with a friend who would be neat and tidy, unlike my messy husband. We would talk everything through and agree on everything, and oh right we kiss sometimes." They don't remember that relationships have passion and disagreement and being a lesbian doesn't mean easy relationships. Anyway I think the writer lacks major imagination and maybe has been unfortunate enough to not experience a intimate relationship. I'd give it a 2/5 for lesbian movies, since most are not that great anyway. I agree with piylot that it's less so a lesbian movie and more a reaction to a lesbian coming out movie.

If you want to skip the movie this video sums it up pretty quick and it's funny. https://youtu.be/om8tKrrKApY

Can you provide with the statement by trump that we should be violent to minorities? I don't remember hearing that. What did he do that promotes violence against minorities?

As a minority myself I would like to know if I'm in danger from getting hurt by trump supporters so please send me a link.

Climate change is a balancing act of making progress for change and not stifling the economy. Bidens plan is not much better than what is in place now, in my opinion.

Some of the campaign promises I can remember, but I can't link it since the Buliden campaign site took them down.

Tearing up perfectly usable buildings, and making new green buildings. Is that really better for the environment? This is massive undertaking for very limited returns. I get making all new buildings as efficient as possible, but to destroy something that was built 3 years ago seems wasteful to me.

To get rid of air travel in ten years? Is that economically viable for a country as massive as america to use railway travel, is it really much better to cut through forests and build railways? Maybe in city centers or the densely populated areas of the east coastbut in the south west and middle America it really doesn't make much sense.

Electric cars in ten years[edit: now that I think about it I think it was 2035 or 2050]. What powers electric cars? Electrical plants. How do we get that energy? - coal - Fossil fuels - Biomass( buring trees, that's popular in germany, they actually buy our dead wood and ship it to Germany. Is that efficient?) - hydro electric power ( we are currently getting rid of dams to protect salmon runs, when they could install a system to allow salmon to get up the river) - solar( I wish it was more effective but solar is not as productive as everyone had hoped for). - Wind (also very intermittent and needs a coal plant for keeping the grid alive) - natural gas (fracking I'm not sure where Biden stands on this he said yes one night no on debate night and walked it back the next day)

California has had rolling blackouts, from their solar energy grid, it is hard to keep up with demand for energy so they switch on the coal buring plants to supplement( minute 28-30). Honestly it depresses me a little since, i really had hoped that solar would be a reliable renewable. Technology has not gotten there yet, and the silica sand cells have a limit to how efficient they are and can be.

Michael moore documentary ( I got some of my info from here about bio fuel and california intermittent solar)

https://youtu.be/Zk11vI-7czE

I have hopes that nuclear energy might come back into favorable view. Thorium reactors that have a molten salt reactor could be an alternative to uranium based reactors that can be problematic. Supposedly the reactivate waste is not as numerous and it's less reactive than a normal uranium realtor. I don't think the biden plans included his but I could be wrong. I tried to look at the site but they took down the information. -_-

I do want renewable energy to work, I think we should never give up on it, but it doesn't look like we have gotten there yet. To change over all our systems before we can truly rely on them seems a bit hasty.

They both play dirty, but changing the way our democracy works at a systemic level is not something I would vote for.

I think Mc Connoll is a lame turtle. I don't like the way the republicans operate and I didn't like it when it happened. I think the senate needed to vote to confirm or reject a nomine judge based on the confirmation hearing. I don't like the way things have become public accusation hearings and campaign ads for senators since the senate confirmation hearings have become widely televised. I think it should be closed to the public but journalists are there to report. It might help with the outrage politicking that has become popular in the hearings. This is a criticism of both the Dems and the republicans.

I think that not having a hearing was an immensely Hippocritical move by republican senators. I still think it is within a presidential preview to appoint a judge for both Obama and Trump. I don't agree with everything the republicans do or everything the democrats do. I'm not a straight party person.

I'm not trying to get people to vote republican. I think the republican's have lost many peoples votes, since they failed to do anything about the monopoly/ selective censorship issue of big tec ( something I think everyone here has experience in Reddit) and their religion based challenges against abortion. I'm defending my position that not all lesbians have to vote a certain way and that Biden is actually not a better choice based off of the topics that lavalanch17 listed.

Be nice next time and ask me what I think about a subject before you assume my position.

I don't think you are part of a problem. I think you are not making a contribution to solutions by assuming peoples views.

I do think that it is definitely easier riding a wave of slow economic growth and building on that, what trump did, than be president after an awful recession like Obama had. I'm not saying Obama was the absolute worst, I'm saying that the economy is in a stronger position under trump, and the Obama/Biden policies did not do as well as the trump policies.

I will look up more info on the TCJA although I did look it up and saw that the cuts seem to be beneficial more for the middle class and corporations. I saw that they cut some of the ACA programs premium tax credits(insurance subsidy) to be able to make the tax cuts. Which I have idea on how that impacts everyone's tax returns negatively and positively, but I get that you are kinda done with the conversation.

I don't think it's tedious to talk about issues that are important, since we gain knowledge from discussion. I definitely will be looking more in-depth at the trump tax cuts because you brought up a point that is valid,( how impactful have they been) although I still think that principal of tax cuts makes sense for economic growth (long and short term). I learned something from our talk and I enjoyed talking with you.

On your assumption that Trump voters are in favor of white supremacy, i'd say of course there are unsavory people on both sides of the political spectrum. I don't think all democrats support violence against cops, even though at protests and rallies people scream burn the pigs. those people are obviously the extremes of the political and social groups. I think you can see the difference in how there are crazy groups of people on both sides of the isle, but most individuals are somewhere in the middle.

And if you are not willing to look at direct evidence to the contrary of your feelings on a candidate(both Joe Biden and Trump) then i guess we are at a moot point.

No not really I'm just someone who pays attention to politics a lot. This is not info that I got all at once by being indoctrinated by someone. I have been watching the news since I was 14 almost every night. On msnbc cnn and fox. I definitely lean right especially now with all the craziness with the left of left taking over for moderate democrats.I am not a fan of trump the person, I like some of the things he has done while in office, while some I could have done without. I mostly am not for how the more radical Democrats are threatening to pack the court and have open amnesty for all. That is going to radically change how our country works.

I am not a fan of his influence on people becoming more one-sided and unwilling to talk, the fact that I think row v wade might be declared unconstitutional, his inability to make any real plans on how to reform Obama care, if you look at one of my other comments I say I'm for something similar to medicare for all. In 2016 I was not rooting for trump i wanted to vote for Newt Gingrich. This election cycle I wanted to see Tulsi Gabbard or Amy klobuchar be either the democratic candidate or vp pick for Biden. Since being picked for vp puts you in a position to run in 2024 and have the support of the DNC.

I am a fan of having a say in politics and my say was not Biden, I want a more modeate democratic party. I did not call you names, I have have been civil. I only wrote what you said, that non Biden voters were "disappointing". I'm sorry if your own agresssive words have made you angry but for future reference when you are making an argument to get people on your side. You should talk with them, present an argument with some backup, and not call them names. It usually helps when trying to convince people of something.

Apologies for the long response but arguments take background info.

Before you don't read my response, I linked articles that are not republican leaning. Nbc, fact check.com, the hill.com, are all not republican leaning. The judicial watch link is a conservative leaning website, but what they did was subpoena the secret service for a record. The secret service acknowledged that it existed at one point. That it was of an altercation between Joe and one of his detail at a Christmas party/ photo opp. It was "destroyed". Multiple agents have said why he got into a fight with Joe that night.

I think you have a point that republican's end goals for Row v Wade is to abolish all abortion. I do agree that that is a definite voting point for women. I do see that that would guide most women away from voting for trump but I don't think trump has a personal goal to abolish all abortion. A lot of what the moderate right( not social conservatives) has an issue with is elective late term abortion. It does make me fear that they will keep trying to knock back viability so that no one can have an abortion. I am more on the pro choice side but the democrats answer to this is to pack the supreme court. Do you know how damaging that is to a constitutional republic, it undermines the people's right to a fair judiciary. What's to stop republican's from doing it if they win an election. What happens then? The courts have 30 judges and every year it grows. Then there comes a time for a process for getting rid of judges, who gets to decide that?We elect a president, they appoint a judge. That's been a pretty stable system for two hundred or so years.

On the homophobic point, I think trump said once that he did not believe in gay marriage. I think he flip flops on the issue because of an Evangelical base, but I think his personal opinion is indifferent to supportive in private life of personal friends.

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/305803-trump-diverts-from-gop-fine-with-supreme-courts-gay-marriage

Being against gay marriage was not a rare belief five years ago and I think it's still common today. You know who didn't support gay marriage and actually publicly opposed it, Joe Biden. He voted for the defense of marriage act and is also now supporting crazy trans stuff like children transitioning( which I think hurts gay people and effectively sterilizes young confused gay people).

Trump has talked about gay marriage before in the 90s and he apparently supported the idea of civil unions/ marriage and spoke about hiring gay people when it was still not very popular to talk about. This was in a gay magazine The Advocate. Apparently he is also leading a global initiative to decriminalize homosexuality around the world.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/trump-administration-launches-global-effort-end-criminalization-homosexuality-n973081

I think it's lead by Richard Grinnell, a gay man who was the ambassador to Germany and director on national intelligence. This man was not a diversity hire, he was qualified and he was gay and Trump hired him.( Obama biden adminstration had no gay people working in high cabinet office positions) Is that homophobic? There are also several openly gay judges that he appointed to the federal courts ( Patric Bumatay is one example). Gorsuch a supreme court Trump appointee, led a opinion to include sexual orientation and identity in a work based discrimination case. I know we all think that the appointed judges will try and take all our rights away but their job is to interpret the law, not to make law. And I have not seen public support or plans to take a case to the supreme court to review the 2015 marriage decision.

On the sexism, do you really think Joe Biden is not a sexist or sexual assaulter. I know trump is a major creep but Joe is as well, it's just not as popular to talk about. There was a physical fight biden had with one of his secret service agents because he apparently grabbed his girlfriend's breasts while taking a picture at a Christmas party.

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/judicial-watch-sues-dhs-gain-access-file-altercation-between-biden-and

Tara Reid accused him of assaulting her, over 20 years ago, there are records of her calling into a show to talk about getting assaulted by a senator around the time she claims to have been assaulted ahe was also working for his election campaign at the time. Blasey Ford had no such ability to connect any allegations to the time period of the claim that she was gang raped repeatedly at a party that she said she went to with her friend. Why I bought up ford is because we are supposed to believe all women. If that were true why didn't you hear about Tara Reed or that secret service agent. There is also many complaints from female security that biden would swim naked in the morning. Which I have to say is a little creepy even though it's their job to protect him and blend into the background, it's kinda gross to just walk around with your dick out.

On racism, give me one example of trump saying something racist about the black community. He denounced white supremacists like 30 or so times since Charlotte and did so when he made that statement about good people on both sides. The coverage on that one is amaze balls, how you can call that journalism is beyond me. In the same sentence he said that the Neo Nazis and white supremacists are condemnable people . Something people seem to forget is Joe implied blacks were not black if they didn't vote for him, accusing one man of being a crackhead, because he said something he disagreed with. Is that racist and offensive? I'd say, yeah.

https://www.factcheck.org/2020/02/trump-has-condemned-white-supremacists/

On the Hispanic front, you have to understand context matters. He was making a speech about border security. He made a reference to the coyotes that ferry people across the border illegally. I remember because I was watching the news, when he made those statements. These are people who work for the cartel and have a reputation for raping women who are alone in the border crossing group. That is why he said Mexican rapists. It's true those men are rapists and I'd argue most of the cartel coyotes are murderers as well. Do we really want them to walk across the border to then turn a gun on the women/children in the group and say your family hasn't paid your debt. Do you really think that that is a good system for immigration along with the economic impact that the illegal immigration brings?

My most important point, lesbians are not a monolith. We are all individuals who are free to decide who we want to support based on things that have nothing to do with being a lesbian. It does not make us bad lesbians or in your words"disappointments" just because you have not heard the other side of the argument or just disagree with us.

Based on what I know both candidates are pigs, both disregard women's autonomy, one in a conservative way and one in a woke progressive way. Both have said offensive things about different races or in context of talking about race. Only one implied that they feel ownership on black american votes, and in a very nasty way proclaimed that if you don't think alike you are not of the same race. So, they are both fairly offensive men, now who should i vote for again?

Could you please give me some response cuz I took my time to write this out. I'm giving you my evidence as to why I don't have a massive disregard for the things you listed. Like I said genuinely want a conversation on why Joe Biden is the only choice for me.

I agree with you on health care although it more than likely would put me out of work. I support the idea of changing the way the insurance market works for people under 65. I think we should leave medicare as is, it works well when people are paying attention to it. I think the under 65 it's a mess. I think the ACA act created a crazy situation where employers decided to let people go and cut back hours so that people would never get full time. So people who were poor before now work 2-3 jobs with no hopes of getting long term raises, promotions and benifets. The insurance market worked before ACA although I recognize it was no where near optimal or perfect, I don't like the idea of people depending on employers for healthcare. I know it's a complex problem but I think the approach is already mapped out. We should try and make a demi-medicare for under 65. Medicare gives companies money from a fund to manage and make efficient. Let companies compete against each other to give consumers a better choice and manage the plans. Let the consumers pay into a system separate from medicare to fund this.i think that paying into the system before using, like in Medicare, should be mandatory. But I think 40 quarters is too long, maybe 20 which would be five years of paying into it by working. That way people have a vested interest in paying into it and it doesn't become something that people can just turn to if they never worked. Obviously there are people who can't work and are disabled but they actually qualify for over 65 medicare. Anyone have more ideas on how to make this demi - medicare work.

How do you credit that to obama? What part of his policies actually provided the economic growth we saw before covid? I would argue that trump's tax plan made the american economy more attractive for investment. Question for you, would you rather have 3% of 5 million dollars or none? When we tax companies in high rates they decide to move out of the american economy and go to Singapore and panama to bank and evade taxes. It's generally not a great idea to raise taxes on corporations because they will just leave and then the american people are cheeted out of the money that should be taxed. Another thing is that if they decide to stay, who do you think will really pay those taxes, the consumer will have to pay 20$ for a gallon of milk. That does not seem like a great economy to me. If your response is we force them, my response is to watch as all the skilled educated people find ways to move to England and singapore. My family is cuban this is exactly what happened. People who are cuban doctors in recent years are still trying to find ways out of cuba. The tax cuts helped small business grow when they had been struggling before. I'd argue that global stability in the world is better for economic growth than instability. While Obama/Bush were in office we had multiple conflicts, the most recent being north korea. Things were getting heated and Obama warned trump during transition that we might be on the road to war with them. remember the hawaii scare in the first month Trump was in office. Trumps handling of that situation helped calm things down, as much as that sounds strange but strength and negoting power works more than being presidential. Obama/ Biden inherited a bad economy but the recovery was slow and stunted by us looking to negotiate with middle eastern countries that kept us in conflicts(Iran deal). Another thing to note is that the trump adminstration made peace deals between israel and other arabic countries. This is very important because this affects the price of oil globally( which europe depends on). When there is conflict between israel and others oil jumps in price and people feel it everywhere. These arabic countries realized that iran is the bigger threat to them and they no longer had the US by the oil balls so they made a deal for better fighting capability against iran. Obama/Biden made a deal to let iranians keep their nuclear program and we also payed them billions of dollars. Which do you think is more economical? Sorry about the large amount of text but there is a lot of context that has to be given in order to debate effectively. I do want to hear your opinion, maybe I'm missing something.

I voted for trump. I think that the job of president is not about being likeable or nice, it's about the job you do for the people. Trump has delivered on many of his campaign promises. I get that he looks and sounds like an ass half the time, but you cannot deny he has done good for this country in terms of the economy( barring covid, but any president would not have been able to avoid the economic impact). Our international standing is stronger as we became energy independent. I think a vote for biden is a vote for stepping backwards in international issues and on the economy. Not only that, he is personally involved in a massive corruption scandal. I know a lot of you will tell me that is fake but I'd be glad to talk about it with you and tell you some things you probably have not heard before about it( I can also link info). I know a lot of responses to the biden corruption is to say trump does it too but, the catch is thst he was impeached and investigated by the democrats. They found no evidence of wrongdoing and they wanted to gut him like a fish. I also personally think that the democrats behavior in the last few months has really soured me to wanting to vote for them. I personally would have liked to have someone more polished and less abrasive to vote for, but I'd rather vote for someone who gets things done. Did anyone want to see Tulsi Gabbard be considered for vp of Bidens ticket? I personally think she has the chops for being a strong candidate for 2024 if the DNC doesn't manipulate the primaries again.

Basically a copy paste of my response in the highschool thread

I was in school from 09-2012, at the time in my school people still though it was cool to make fun of something by saying that's so gay.I was quiet and shy so I really didn't date or make my gayness known to anyone. Being shy probably made me more of a target for people to bully me. You know the kind of bulling where you can hear people whisper dike and lesbian but not to your face. That happened a lot in highschool and college, I usually tried to ignore it ,but I stood up for myself a few times. I really hated that people used "that's so gay " and told one of my coworkers how offensive I found it since I was gay. He was actually a very polite mormon guy and he felt bad that he was saying something hurtful so nonchalantly. Another time where things got physical was in culinary class, I used to wear plaid shirts in school and I heard some guys making fun of me in the back. I was in the middle of chopping vegetables when the jock guy if the group came up behind me and grabbed my hips to pretend he was humping me for a laugh. I turned around and showed him the knife between us and said "are you serious I'm holding a knife". He never tried anything again and I actually made some friends with the guys who were laughing at his jokes. High school was an awkward time for me but I really became more of myself during college and at work.

Good for you girl. It's always smart to go with quality people rather than acronym focused groups. I wouldn't give up on nyc so quick there are a lot of women who are open to the idea of being with a woman there. And I'll bet you a lot of them share your views but are too afraid to voice them. I'd say keep your eye out for a girl that seems rational, with some conversation you might be able to enlighten her to the issues within the lgbtq+++++ community. Oh and remember to be careful on dating apps if you use them.

I'm sorry that you are growing up in a time where you feel attacked for explaining that you are a lesbian. My suggestion is that it's not going to change any time soon so maybe stay away from the GSA. These people are not worth your time if they want you to conform to their ideas of who you should be. Have you tried other places to meet up with other gays? I used to know quite a few gay women from everyday life. Try volunteering at a barn with horses (ASPCA or local charity)they are packed with lesbians, or something sporty like soccer or baseball. Or even a community center that has anything to do with wild life. You could try workshops that teach about fixing cars, woodworking, gardening,or even budgeting for college/career focused courses. I find that women who are their own people are unafraid to identify as a lesbians and that people who have their shit together generally respect others. Are you looking for a community or a romantic partner? It might be harder to find someone who is not part of the woke crowd if you live in liberal city, try going to these events in rural/ suburban environments.

i really wish that "you're not a real lesbian" was used less of the time in arguments between lesbians. by literallyjustvibing in Lesbians

What about call them rational lesbians who understand basic biology. RLWUBB for short. I'm really just kidding though. It's a little ridiculous that we have to identify ourselves as rational people.

I get what you're saying about women who were peer pressured into dating a trans woman ( male). I think they are lesbians who are brain washed, In the same way a lesbian who went through a conversion therapy program has been convinced or coerced to be with males. Or they could be queer, which is in my personal opinion, is mostly straight women and some real bisexuals who want woke points.

I think that lesbians fear identifying as lesbian because of social and sexual stigma. Identifying as lesbian makes men more inclined to try and "change you" so I understand avoiding it. It's probably why they identify as nonbinary and queer now. Men have a porn obsession with turning lesbians and I think identifying as queer/nonbinary puts in a younger lesbians mind less focus on then as being sexualized by men with the added bonus of being hip and young.

I'm sorry to hear that your friend went through this. I know that some people might say that you should have gotten more involved with her. That you should have explained things to her, but there is a limit to how much a person wants to know about something, especially if learning about it makes you the victim of a crime. Shutting herself out of learning about sex vehemently is more than likely linked to some experience she doesn't want to understand. I know feeling guilty about not doing more when that situation happened is probably going to stay with you, but you did more than most people are willing to. Most younger people don't want to get in trouble and be involved in suggesting a superior is being sexualy inappropriate. i feel proud that you stood up for her the best you could and that you have the emotional maturity to not force someone into confronting their possible victimhood. Sometimes it's better for people to keep moving forward without looking back.

I'm not super experienced but maybe do something active that you feel comfortable doing with her on the second date. Try not to make kissing a goal but more like the cherry on top of a nice date. It will build up your confidence. Try holding her hand or putting your arm around her to gauge how comfortable she is with touch. If she leans into you she's is probably comfortable with you. Try a small kiss where you feel like she is most comfortable, give her room enough to back away if she is not into it. Come in enough to make it clear your trying for a kiss but don't go all the way. If she turns you down it's ok, if may happen later or not at all and it's all good cuz then you know if your compatible, try redirecting the conversation to the activity your doing. Enjoy yourself it's not all about doing things perfect, you're exploring each other to see if your attraction for each other is reciprocated and if you are compatible.
