"Companies should consider race, gender and ethnicity when deciding who to let go."

And the whole point of DEI is that they are supposed to consider race, gender, and ethnicity when deciding who to hire.

It's suicide. These people are racists, and because racism is a disease of ignorance and stupidity, they will die before they admit the false premise they are operating under.

Simple logic: Two companies, one which hires the most skilled in their field, the other which hires the most DEI acceptable in their field. The only way the second company can be successful in a fair competition is if there is either no difference or an advantageous difference between the proportion of skilled people within the DEI community and that of the broader community. The odds of that approach zero.

Which means the DEI companies will be able to compete only in a rigged environment. Rigging is inefficient. This means the quality of whatever the product is goes down. Translate this into the broad economy - with many DEI firms - and the economy shrinks. Looks like precisely what is happening to me (combined with other headwinds, broadly categorized as ESG).

Our economy is disintegrating because we've prioritized moral purity over the actual production of the things the economy produces.

The result is not surprising, but it is tragic to watch. These morons are absolutely clueless of the actual harm they are doing - including to themselves - by getting stuck in a moral soup of racism and genderism. They are the racists. How to get them to recognize this and knock it off?

It should be self-evident that choosing from a larger pool of candidates is always better. In theory DEI could help here if it's like "Hey, About about Gloria? She's good at X, you're not overlooking her just because she's a woman, are you?" But in practice DEI more often introduces additional bias with things like arbitrary quotas, which of course is the opposite of what you want since that limits your pool instead of expanding it.

It's communism without being called that.

Tech jobs require skills in STEM. It doesn't matter what color people are, if they lack the skills, they shouldn't be hired. Why hire dead weight? It's not racism. If they want the job, let them acquire the skills just as everyone else did. There shouldn't even be a diversity and inclusion team.

Workers are more likely to leave companies where equity efforts aren’t a priority. Nearly one in five female leaders have left a job in the past two years because of a company’s lack of commitment to DE&I, according to an October report from McKinsey and LeanIn.org.

Who the hell is this group???

This is the actual web address to this organization.

These are the objective pollsters.

“I think people have come through the pandemic feeling a bit more empowered. We’ve realized that being in a toxic environment where you’re not happy is just not worth it.” —Black woman, Vice President

They have an anonymous, Black woman, Vice President.
But they show her photo.

Back to the article.

In a 2019 survey of 2,000 workers, McKinsey found that 39% decided against pursuing or accepting a job because of a perceived lack of inclusion at a company.

I'd wager that "39%" in 2019, has rapidly shifted to close to 0% in the scamdemic-induced Great Recession.

Tech people are sub-human anyway.

"Companies should consider race, gender and ethnicity when deciding who to let go."

They already do.

Let these bluehairs come work for me. We say fag on the reg and fight all the time. The world ain't all that different when you go outside. We'd laugh at them until they cried and quit.

Right to work state with no HR dept. It's a dream.

Even more than HR, DEI is a pinnacle of useless jobs for chronically unhappy people. Getting rid of them will increase workplace happiness overall.

Good. Next to the war on drugs, it's one of the most failed policies we've ever embraced. I worked at the same company for 20 years and saw no trace of racism, sexism, or bigotry in any way. And yet once Trump was elected, people acted like we worked for the clan. When BLM became a thing, I saw extremely privileged people lecturing all of us and all but calling for us to denounce our identity and take a knee, kowtowing to woke bullshit like anti-racism, microaggression, and white fragility. Basically trying to fix something that wasn't broken as the company was already, organically diverse and worked just fine.

Moved to another corporate position, but DEI and this bullshit is still going on (though I'll admit the luster has worn off a bit and people just ignore it and move on). I had to take about 30 courses, 90% of which were DEI related or about sexual harassment, even though I worked 100% remotely, lol.

Companies were pandering to the wokies because it was popular and the thing to do. Then they figured out how much it cost and decided they could cut back.
