Youtube censorship has gotten so crazy.

I post political comments all of the time. No vulgar slurs, nothing like that. Just not leftist opinions.

I was watching some livestreams over the past few days and any time I've commented, my posts were always ignored.

At first I thought "Damn, what was wrong with my comment that the streamer didn't even notice it? Was it offensive? Is the chat moving too fast". Wherever I posted, the streamers ignored me.

Finally I typed in a few innocent words into a chat today and logged out. I went back to the page and guess what? None of my comments were even in the feed.

They have completely blacklisted me.

Fuck this platform.

Thanks for posting this. It is important for people to realize that Youtube is shadow banning people. There are ways to get around it, like using discord; but the streamers have to be aware that youtube is manipulating their stream.

      YouTube has been hijacked by the left, much like the large media corporations surrounding it, while I’m not surprised, I’m still in awe at the fact that, corporations can just blacklist people for having a different opinion, and while I get that it is a private corporation, allowing it to do whatever when it comes to rules, the standards for these media corporations to just censor people for “wrong think” should just, not.

      I don't know about right-wing opinions, but they did let a black man give a talk about how he befriended a KKK leader. More tolerant than you'd expect.

      Edit: that's a TEDx talk, but it must still be licensed by TED.

      I opened an account on Google/ YouTube - my first ever- and posted a comment defending Free Speech under the comments section of a YouTube video. They shadow-banned my post. This was well before shadow-banning was a thing people knew about. This is about a decade ago. I had to figure it out for myself after becoming suspicious of the lack of reaction (zero) my post got in an active discussion under the video.

      It's not just that they did that, it's what it implies. If you make a point and you make it well, you're identified and targeted instantly- no posting history necessary. They differentiate between someone who can make a point and your average Joe poster the way the police differentiatte between small time pot dealers and the drug cartels.

        Seen the same myself. It's a constantly shifting landscape driven by Google's frantic attempts to silence wrongspeak. I noticed some weeks back that comments I made that contained certain words were being shadow banned. I knew this because the comments were only visible to me when logged-in. It's why some people started using increasingly bizarre euphemisms to avoid Google's filtering. The same approach has been adopted by video creators to avoid being instantly downgraded for using certain words - regardless of context. We're not talking words that normal people would consider offensive.

        And even this you can't know for sure with Youtube comments being a flaming pile of shit technologically-wise. Between comments disappearing on expanding, notifications arriving years later, comment history showing different comments depending on the phase of moon and so on and so forth, it's hard to even tell whether you have been shadowbanned in some way or it's another bug. I think after their attempt to merge Youtube comments and G+ and forcing everyone to their stillborn social network, Youtube comments have consistently been the worst commenting platform I have ever seen.

        These days I just installed browser extension to hide comments and pretend I don't even remember Youtube ever had them.

        Oddly I'm never censored on YouTube. Don't know why but I'm also trying to migrate to bitchute because I do know how censored YouTube really is.
