You guessed right, I almost never watch video links. I'd rather read a long article than watch a short video 🤷🏼‍♂️ To me videos are for entertainment, text is for information with some rare exceptions

Sure there are still good hits now and then, but the attitudes about conquering the American Frontier have profoundly shifted. You could say that American Dream has been replaced with the sci-fi and fantasy now dominating the delusional mindscapes.

Yeah I'd say thats accurate

I'm guessing you didn't watch this video essay to glean the thesis. Westerns were always by far the top grossing genre since films were invented, until social and political views evolved and by the end of the sixties, stumbling into the seventies, even adapting modern perspectives couldn't save the genre. Sure there are still good hits now and then, but the attitudes about conquering the American Frontier have profoundly shifted. Documentaries only show us how things already are, they don't add another problem for us to worry about, even if it's only for 90 minutes.

FALSE.

Documentaries often give the impression of unbiased objective reality, especially well produced ones. The truth is that every piece of media, all of it, especially corporate media, and including this comment, has biases, agendas, and intent. Documentaries are essentially audio-visual essays that will spin the audience toward their predetermined destination.

There's this weird thing at the moment where a lot of people have decided they don't like original fiction. They like true stories and old stories but they don't have any patience for new stories. I can't really put my finger on it but it's similar thing to people who can't watch scifi or fantasy. But, yeah, this trend is definitely coming from the audience as well as studios. Studios just want to make money.

It seems to me there are several practical reasons for this.

The entertainment business requires everything from screenwriters to production companies to directors and editors. All of these can be more effective cogs in the business machine if there are protocols, standards, and templates in an assembly line of production. It simply makes sense to cookie-cutter their shit - especially with million dollar investments with billions on the line.

They also monopolize intellectual property and copyright claims with their armies of lawyers. By limiting the amount of original content produced they can better wrangle and control their tried and not-true IPs.

Most if not all of their content reinforces the concept that "authority" must be obeyed and is critically necessary. I could go on about this at length.

(((The globalist corporatocracy))) is training us to consume only their product to be good obedient consumerist debt slaves.

Full spectrum dominance of (((the message))).

They already own all the major production companies, networks, and distribution avenues (and in addition to the media, the banks, politics, military, goods, services, etc etc etc). They suppress alternative media in favour of corporate media, controlled voices, limited hangouts, and/or those who serve (((the official narratives))) and (((the message))), whether paid or not, ignorantly or intentionally. And of they course apply dynamic silence and/or censor the alternative media critical of that which is too taboo to expose - or that offer alternatives and solutions.

I mean sometimes they even say it, they'll say something about about a plot point they don't like along the lines of "it's as though the writers are just making it up as they go along." I mean that's what writers do, yes.

Would you want your pilot speaking corrupt English to controllers and other pilots? Or controllers speaking corrupt English to your pilot?

They too, had come to the same conclusion about life and society as did the main character/“Tyler”. They too were upset and tired of the corruption and bullshit.

Yes, and they even agreed that they should take action, violent action. Sure there are some very good reasons why you might want to have the same attire. For example, the cops can't single you out if you're the drunk Santa who pissed on their car if you're in the middle of a Santa Rampage. But the fact remains they were doing cult behavior and giving up their individuality and personality to conform. Part of the pros and cons of being in a group/mob is that members can grow courage and confidence in things they wouldn't have otherwise, for better or worse.

I don't always post content I agree with, and sometimes it's just food for thought with a different perspective.

I don’t really agree with this video.

Yes, there was a leader - but I don’t believe Fight Clubs’s “followers” were blind or ignorant followers (“the space monkeys”). They too, had come to the same conclusion about life and society as did the main character/“Tyler”. They too were upset and tired of the corruption and bullshit. So they were introduced to fight club.

They weren’t mindless followers. They were into it 100%, life pushed them to that point like it pushed the main character into creating Tyler, an alter ego who could take the form of a leader and was charismatic. There was no fight club when he broke; so he made it. Had there been one and he was handed a card or invited to a fight club as were the others, he would have become a “space monkey” too.

I like Critical Drinker, but he really got it wrong on this one. I just ran across it recently. We all know Snyder is awful, but somehow people still like this steaming pile. Changing the ending ruins any and all possible positive things about it, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The only good thing is the Minutemen intro. I'm convinced someone else is responsible for that since Snyder is completely inept, and couldn't have missed the mark more with this one. I was SO excited for my favorite book to finally be made into a movie, only to watch it assraped.

I'm guessing she wanted more swash or buckling or romance like The Bounty or Last Of The Mohicans or something. She was never seen again after walking the plank.

Flair?

Sadly I don't read much anymore. If I'd have known about them before the movie I would have read them back then. I used to read a lot. Love sailing. Read lots of swashbuckling and real accounts. I even read Captain Bligh's semi-tedious account of The Bounty.

Even one sixth of my Bittersweet Seeds story takes place on a tall ship. Maybe when it's ready to share I might try to pick your brains on how to improve it.

I've read all twenty of the Aubrey/Maturin books three times and some of them more. The books are underrated too. Man, you've got a helluva flair going on there.

Yes and no. He has strength that are top of the game, and he has serious weaknesses - some the MSM won't even discuss (ie. propaganda).

My brother looks a lot like Chris Hemsworth, including the hyperteloric eyes, but is only 5'10". He got fat like Thor too, but then got fit and now does triathlons, whereas, I was fit and am now fat and I'll never do triathlons. Also, my brother the hyper-bossy private school principle never grew his hair long, while I always have, and grew a beard before it got trendy.

I don't know that much Spanish but he's telling a story about hitting a kid with a shoe, "La Chancla".

It's a relatively well know feature of spanish culture that La Chancla is the motherly weapon of choice, but unlike a belt or a switch it has distance. This provides constant fear in children.

Risitas - Las Paelleras (Original video with English Subtitles)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDiB4rtp1qw

The interviewee is Juan Joya, commonly known as "Risitas" or "El Risitas", literally meaning "little laughs" or "giggles", due to the way he laughs during his jokes and stories. He became very known in Spain.

Some non-Spanish speakers wanted to know what they originally said, so I made this for them. I tried to make it as faithful as possible, but Risitas speaks with Andalusian accent and sometimes it can be a bit "closed". However, I think I was able to take all the meaning and translate it properly.
