The stiff upper lip is initially off-putting, but it gives it more authenticity once engaged. IMO it's even better on repeat viewing. Rare for movies anymore. Sequels would have been very nice, if even half as good.

I'm guessing she wanted more swash or buckling or romance like The Bounty or Last Of The Mohicans or something. She was never seen again after walking the plank.

I was joking with you. That story reminded me that she was Canadian and I know you are. I thought it was my chance to get in a jab.

Jabs are fine, above the belt. Below the belt and it's either flirtatious or rapey.

On average, the difference between Americans and Canadians is we don't take our patriotism as seriously.

I've heard of Americans tourists telling locals they're Canadian when travelling overseas and Canadian soldiers telling locals they're Americans when they get rowdy. We're too much the same.

I knew several Americans that did that too.

The few Canadian soldiers I ever met were always dicks and never confided in me.
