I know a gay ex-Muslim from Jordan, and he's taken steps to make it impossible for his family back in Jordan to find him. Why? He says that his family would murder him either for being gay or for renouncing Islam, which he described, to quote him exactly, as "the most fucked-up religion in the world."

Fucked up that gay men would be attacked at all in 2021 but in the Gay Village?! I'm wary of all religions and don't support any of them but this once again shows some religions are less open to accepting secular society's rules and norms especially when they're religion comes from a completely different culture. Many Muslim men view things like acceptance of same-sex attraction as Western secular society being imposed on them and an attack on their beliefs (like fundamentalist Christians--but with even less connection and loyalty to Western secular ideals, like women's rights and LGB rights and free speech).
