Because people support LGB and see it as support of "LGBT"

Therefore, when they lie and say that their problems are our problems, it makes things that aren't bad look bad, as though the people making these policies were homophobic

That's exactly why transgender activists back in the 90s very deliberately targeted gay organizations and cemented T to gay rights.

Look through this sub and you'll find posts with interviews with T activists admitting that they used gay rights, gay organizations, gay money to get their T agenda backed by politicians, corporations and the public.

T latching on to LGB anti-discrimination is what held it back for so long - It was close to passing in 2007 and then the Ts latched on last minute and it tanked - Gays were this close to being nationally protected from discrimination.

Not just that but I’ve been hearing resurgence of homophobic ideas like that gay men aren’t fully male/men and that lesbians aren’t fully female/women. Part of it is that whole brain sex bullshit. That gay people’s brains show some similar patterns to the brains of the opposite sex when shown certain stimuli.

This is so harmful.

The LGBT+ activist behind the North Carolina transgender access bathroom bill is a convicted sex offender.

That kinda speaks to his motivations in wanting men to be able to self-ID and access women's spaces.

OP is right that this kind of trans activism shit tarnishes LGB too, because LGB in the public mind is now part of LGBTQA2A+++

I saw this situation many many times, especially in authoritarian and homophobic countries. There news showing some transgenders, and then calling "see, that is how all gays are looking, and it will be here too if we will stop being homophobic". TQ+ is just dragging us down, as everyone looking at them, and thinks LGB is the same, as we are all under one LGBTQ+ label.

This is what I am afraid of in the U.S. to be honest. I don't know how it is in other western countries. The U.S. has been on gradual slide towards authoritarianism since G.W Bush Administration, and seeing reports of "LGBT acceptance" dropping just has me bracing for a social "over correction" of sorts. I initially thought the TRA shit was that correction --especially with their coercive and homophobic rhetoric used against lesbians, but now not so much.

I came of age in 1998 and still remember the religious fundamentalists treating our rights as people as something for them to decide. I did a lot of phone banking in the 2000s to try and stop anti gay marriage bills my state, and I still remember the people who were virulently homophobic with me. I am afraid of what the next over correction is going to look like if we go full blown authoritarian here. Those same people who shouted at me are definitely not going to make a distinction between LGB and TQ. Right now the new "culture war" is waged by what I call the performative left. The TRAs acknowledge nobody's boundaries except their own. They keep pushing their agenda beyond what is reasonable (what rights do they not already have ?) and I expect the right wing will have zero compunction in re-litigating our rights along side the T's. They haven't left abortion rights alone in this country, and I expect to have to re fight gay and lesbian rights in the future.

I would upvote your comment dozens of times if I could, because I see the same dangerous future for gay rights.

The TQ + are causing a lot of trouble for LGB and it really pains me that years of gay activism are being reversed because current gay leaders weren't strong enough to stand up against the gender mob.

This is propaganda - almost every Leftist US media outlet is spewing this kind of shit because they receive $$ from gender lobby foundations like TIDES and ARCUS.

I've been alive for many decades, have had many butch lesbian friends, and never once did they have a problem in women's bathrooms. Not even lately when women are very justifiably terrified of being attacked because of the trans self-ID bathroom laws, which allow Jake L Sex Offender to come on into the women's loo too.

Also, RE "Karens" - there are a few articles out now about the sudden rise of "Karen" shaming and how it's being used to stop women from speaking up. There's one in THE ATLANTIC, which used to be a prestigious US publication. There's also one in FEMINIST CURRENT.

However the Karen meme started, it's now used to shame women into silence. It's a very deliberate way of keeping women from speaking out. I even saw a Karen video on local news.

tl;dr The Karen meme is just another way to shame women into silence.

    [–]VioletRemiCat, homosexual one 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Here "Karen" is used to describe any woman at all that someone disagree with, similar to "terf". It is mostly used as "all women are stupid" or "typical to all women stupidity".

    [–]BEB 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    That's exactly it - Karen is TERF-lite.

The Karen meme is just warming the public up to not listen to those nasty TERFs once people actually find out that TERFS are only fighting for women's rights, safe spaces and sports.

Heterosexual women, especially feminists, were the first and most ardent non-gay supporters of the gay rights movement. Also, most of the gay-supporting women were white, because many minority cultures in the US were (and some still are) extremely homophobic.

How do I know? Because I was there.

The TQ+++ are great at rewriting history, and they've rewritten women's role in gay rights because they want women to be silenced.

Why? Because it's the Karens who are pushing back against the transgender activist agenda of men in women's hospital rooms and men in women's sports.

Women in the US, regardless of their color, still do not have equal rights under the law. In the US, Black men got the right to vote decades before women did.

And, by the way, there was no general definition of "white" until relatively lately. For instance, Americans of Italian descent weren't considered white.

Please, really, do yourself a favor and step away from Queer Theory, Critical Race Theory, Post-Modernism and the rest of the poison that is being pushed to divide us further so that we are too busy moaning about our micro-identities to rise up against the billionaires who are our true oppressors.

White - Hetero - Privilege - Black - Oppressed ... Homophobe, Erase, Karen, Ignore ...

Are you taking notes from Twitter or something? FFS, you aren't even saying anything. You're just throwing out buzzwords and pretending it means something because you have no foundation at all.

You know this is meant to NOT BE REDDIT?

        Get lost.

        [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Honestly for all the talk the queer community does "against" cis straight white men, they completely ignore the women that raised them to be that way and the privilege they have. Also Karen isnt a slur lol, white women were fine with calling minority women funny names so honestly....who cares?

        [–]ascom 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

But it's not used like that though, is it? It has been removed from its original meaning and has been appropriated by 'progressive' white men (quelle surprise) to go in on women who they don't agree with in other words radfems and gender critical women. Object to peeing alongside a man, you're a Karen.

        [–]Gearbeta 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

While white women who call the police for no reason on people absolutely should be ridiculed and punished, there is a very real problem with people attempting to use the term "Karen" to unfairly target women. For example, this person saying that we should use the term "Karen" for women who contact HR regarding sexual harassment. (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EcHk5fSXgAAavMy?format=jpg&name=large) which is really not the direction we should be going with the term "Karen". I think it's fair to call people out for being a crybully but we should absolutely be wary of people trying to co opt our legitimate grievances for malicious purposes.

I'm not saying that butch lesbians don't get harassed, I'm saying that none of my butch friends have ever been harassed by other WOMEN in a bathroom.

And I know that you obviously don't know me, but I have been fighting for gay rights since back when it was called "gay rights."

I also helped gay men with AIDS when no one would touch them. I can tell you stories that would break your heart...

          [–]BEB 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Also BTW: butch lesbians are being used by the trans demands movement to claim that if restrooms are sex-segregated what will happen to the poor butch lesbians who look like men?!?!? /s

Well, as I said, I've been friends with many butch lesbians, and none would pass as a man in person.

On the old reddit GC sub there was an interview with the person who was in charge of CIA disguises and she said that it's almost impossible to disguise oneself as the opposite sex. People recognize each others sex within milliseconds.

Second off, I have spent a lot of time in countries where gay men are often forced to transition. NONE of them pass, and none would be mistaken for a butch lesbian.

So again, butch lesbians are being used by the trans demand activists to further their own, very anti-lesbian agenda and the media pays along because they're being bribed. If you don't believe me, look at their funding.

Okay homophobe, be sure to erase every single lesbian that diesn't fufill the male sex fantasy. People like you hurt women more than Trans people do.

              You're sick.

              Melanie,

This sub is not your platform to advocate for women's rights.

We obviously support lesbians wholeheartedly, but you are forgetting something very key ... that men can and do exist within LGB. We support them too, and we do not choose sides here.

You need to take your anger and targeting of men somewhere else. It is not welcome in an LGB sub.

If you cannot temper your feelings and attempt to engage in good faith with our other members, then you will be permanently banned.

You have a decision to make now. Choose wisely.

              Your performance activism is sick.

What is she performing and who is she performing to? This is an anonymous online forum for debate. Unless I am much mistaken this person is not getting gaining social currency from people IRL for disagreeing from you-- which is what real "performance activism" is. You keep saying that phrase, but I don't think you know what it actually means.
