GC: Why is there more focus on trans women than trans men? by Genderbender in GCdebatesQT

I... Feel like I shouldn't have to explain social media presence has only been a big factor in peoples minds for no more than the past 5-6 years. You won't see me defending people stopping science from happening, but what about alllllll the time before that. You do understand that trans people have been studied in earnest for more than 30 years, right? Were tras shooting those studies down for the other 25?

You could admit, at the very least, that a lack of alternatives for "transition" is exactly what QT wants.

I mean, am i qt? Cause thats the exact opposite of what i want

Women are told this all the time. We are not even noticing such answers, huh.

So maybe realize it's a shitty thing to do and don't do it.

Radfems have doxxed me. They are shit people. Don't defend them, even in 'general'. I wouldn't defend tras doing likewise

You are reading the opposite of what I wrote.

In response to my saying I've been targeted with harassment by gcers you said

I am pretty sure in rare cases it is possible for some GC to be agressive (like adungitut in this sub or Posie Parker), after being tired of being threatened themselves.

after being tired of being threatened themselves.

Like I can't read that any differently than 'sure that sucks but think about how they feel too'

Many GC are anonymous because of this, as a lot of trans activists are doxxing us...

Yes, yes, I get it, you are much more oppressed.

And for the billionth time today

most likely is not very legal

Quite legal. Ddosing however is not.

Cute how you jump right into emotionally manipulative falsehoods

That's like 90% of radfem rhetoric though? It's literally what you're doing right now in response to wanting children to get treatment though.

But can I be real with you house? We've literally already had this conversation. We don't need to have it again I think. Have a nice night though, glad you got to see the moon yesterday.

Oh and I think I was going to message you but forgot. Sorry for going off on you a couple weeks ago. Visited my parents, they drank me under the table, went on a drunken posting spree. Sorry bout that

alok

Who? I got doxxed by a radfem can I call you a shitty person for it?

Also i swear none of you actually believe dysphoria exists. It's always the whims of adults with drugs 'experimenting' on unsuspecting, innocent children, as if they aren't already messed up in the head. You don't like the current method of treatment? Then. Provide. Concrete. Evidence. Against. It. Id fucking LOVE to live in a world where dysphoria could be treated without transition. It's not a fun experience, you will be discriminated against, there is nothing I wish more than for dysphoric kids to not suffer.

But that alternative treatment doesnt exist. So stay out of the way of the one we have which is proven to work until it does.

Right but when I call treating dysphoric kids medical care, I have sources to back me up, and when you call that child grooming (somehow?) and try to prevent access to it, you have... What? A study that says puberty blockers offset the biological changes that come with puberty and some assorted study reviews that say trans people are less happy than cis people? Thats it. Medical denialism is medical denialism, even if you dont want it to be.

The FDA regulates hormones supplements as supplements, not prescription drugs. I explained this above.

I call radfems monsters for denying minors access to medical care. Turns out you can really call anyone anything.

Prefer to enjoy stuff than snap pics of it.

Definitely get that, I like pictures to keep for memories though, even if I know they won't turn out well. My silly camera phone tried it's hardest with the last solar eclipse.

...okay. Estradiol is technically used for the treatment of cancer, sure. It doesn't change that only one specific type is cytotoxic and it ain't the bioidentical kind. But sure, very dangerous.

I'll keep pushing safe avenues for minors to get treatment, and if medical treatment has been barred from them because some terrible people legislated against it im not going to tell them tough luck have fun suffering bye. And we've already done the whole "is transition effective" game, you made it very clear you just don't believe it is despite not having any credile evidence, so we don't really need to play that game again. Was fun chatting though, maybe make an everything else post and post moon pics if you took any, I wanna see em.

Chemo drugs aren't hormones.

And once again, hormones are billed as supplements and are perfectly legal to import. Importing Spiro or cypro is not.

If you think teenagers should have unfettered access to this shit you should probably be kept far as away from youth as the morally deficient sellers.

Funny, I feel the same way about people trying to restrict the medical access of those same teenagers.

DDosing isn’t the way to get it removed. Reporting the seller to law enforcement and pharmaceutical regulatory bodies is. Removing the website does not remove the seller from society. Imprisonment is a better solution.

I mean at no point in the process is anything illegal occuring so im not sure what involving law enforcement will accomplish.

Saying a man doesn't pass is not equivalent to rape & death threats. Not even close.

Thank you for telling me what a death threat isn't. Thank you, i had no idea, turns out all those death threats were just people trying to politely tell me I dont pass. /s

I get it, you have the monopoly on oppression, you win.

I also appreciate the three massive paragraphs which basically boil down to "but that isn't us so why should I care."

1)I didn't say it was you. In fact i didn't blame any group at all. I was just joking about your asinine rant about how bad you have it as though trans people... Don't? I guess?

2)it literally IS you. Not in as high a ratio as the literal neo Nazis, but don't worry, radfems have taken themselves a slice of the pie as well. Most of the radfem targeted harassment I've gotten though is doxxing, in fairness to all of you lovely individuals.

Why are trans activists so hyper focused on 'terfs' instead of the Johns & homophobic men who are actually doing the killing?

I mean... They are? You realize they can be upset at both of you at once, and while they ARE out here killing us, radfems certainly aren't innocent considering how aggressively they're trying to legislate out trans people in the uk (and now other pockets of the world too woohoo...)

Would you like it if you were sent death & rape threats, if you were assaulted for advocating for trans rights? Really think about this. Who are the bullies here? Who are the oppressors?

would you like it

Man I sure wish i lived in a world where these things didnt actually happen for being trans so I could imagine them happening and feel bad.

All: Why do a lot of trans people insist that being non binary or trans has nothing to to with stereotyoes, and then suddenly it really is about stereotypes? by questioningtw in GCdebatesQT

[–]Greensquidsphone 4 insightful - 8 fun4 insightful - 7 fun5 insightful - 8 fun -  (0 children)

Honestly a tough question to answer, especially for me since I was the exact opposite, but anyone who has had dysphoria from a young age has had a VERY warped experience with societal expectations of gender placed on them by society, their parents, their friends, etc. It wasn't my experience because from like 8-12 or 13 I was in hyper-repression mode (which obviously has a whole lot of other baggage but not relevant), but I think it's kind of hard to look at trans or nb people and say something like "well well well you say you don't uphold traditional gender roles but when you were 5 you looked up to your dad when he fixed the truck that one time explain yourself!" without taking into account that children are affected by society and take on a lot of influence from their parents without even realizing it. I don't really think it's reasonable to compare the actions of impressionable children to adults who have changed their own outlook and interaction with gender roles.

In other words I think it's reasonable to say "something like playing with dolls when I was 6 being raised around traditional gender roles is how I can safely say I knew" without that impeding any more current, reasoned view on gender roles and stereotypes being circumnavigated 15-20 years later.

Look bud, you should probably stop...

Neo genitalia are a surgical facsimile, the difference is one set performs a biological function and the other set is made to look like something else. There's no mystical secret here. Male and female genitalia have more than one purpose, and even if they aren't performing that purpose properly they still have a network of biological functions behind the scenes that surgical approximations don't create.

She dumped her entire Brandon Sanderson collection on me. I'd only read a few beforehand but I'm really into these stormlight books. And they're reallll chunky so I can do the super healthy move where I tell myself I can afford to give up 30 minutes of sleep time and then suddenly it's 2 hours later and I've still barely made a dent.

My husband and I have been looking into tibetan mastiff rescue. Really just any big dog though is my dream. Big dogs are great. My parents had a st Bernard when I was younger, she was a giant fuzzball of lazy love.

Well, my friend lent me several books so I lost all semblence of a healthy sleep schedule because I think I might have a problem. My husband broke the a.c. window unit thing trying to install it by himself while I was asleep, so now it's hot as hell in the bedroom until our replacement one arrives, further killing my sleep. It's okay I don't think it's very important to have anyways.

Saw a new doctor, trying out lexapro, probably won't open this for a few weeks when I start since I've heard some pretty wild horror stories of people starting it for the first time.

Boring otherwise. Looking into getting a dog. Miss having a dog around....

There is a small difference between TWAW (a phrase I'm fairly certain I've never even used) and WPATH being part of a larger big pharma conspiracy and also a "child grooming outfit".

Making spurious, not only unproven but literally unprovable claims is an action which has no place in a debate space. I, again, have told no one what they are and are not allowed to say, but im not going to respond to bad faith arguments in good faith. It's one thing to respond to posts you don't like with rude, puerile put downs such as "pointless" and "crap" and whingey throwaway phrases like "dogwhistle rant," "don't waste your time" and "why should I bother."

If you don't like it then don't write three paragraphs of personal opinion that literally reads to me as nothing but you stroking the egos of other radfem posters here.

But why make a vulgar reference to male group masturbation? Do you really think likening the "GC" side - most of whom are women - to a bunch of fellas sitting around with their dicks in their hands wanking & jizzing makes you come off as persuasive?

I mean, I know you know that in context I'm not saying you and the gals are whipping out dicks to what you wrote. And if you somehow dont:

"Circle Jerk" is a pejorative slang term referring to a positive feedback loop which occurs when an idea or belief that is already customary within an online community becomes re-iterated and rewarded in a perpetual cycle

And that it will help convince others that you "pass" as a woman IRL as you tell us you do?

Besides this being arguably against the rules (No personal attacks. This includes insults, inquiring into a person's appearance or passability...), why do I care if a group of women on the internet think I don't pass because I use an internet word on the internet?

https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/field_document/031_expert_affidavit_of_dr._stephen_levine_with_exhibit.pdf

This Levine guy really likes to quote himself. Again I don't know what you want out of me here, I too have qualms with WPATH SOC. They aren't yours, but they are there.

BTW, I never mentioned the word "evil." Only you did. Twice

True, I used my magic power of 'inference'. You didn't use evil, but you did use:

-Big pharma (a conspiracy surrounding an evil corporatist plot)

-SUBJECTING children and adolescents to DAMAGING medical intervention

-slew of odious policies

-irresponsible, injurious practice

I don't see it as that much of a stretch, to be honest, Mark.

I take issue with the fact that you're preaching the clinical treatment of people with a medical disorder as a harmful practice. It's done so without proof, I've had people on this site go so far as to tell me they have no proof at all. Your "come to terms with their bodies and develop healthy self-concepts and self-esteem." is thinly veiled conversion therapy advocation unless you can provide concrete evidence loving oneself more is an effective cure for GD.

In conclusion, Mark, I don't believe it's a post you wrote to me, I believe it's a post you wrote to your GC audience. Considering to even get through the first couple of sentences I have to go off the assumption that gender dysphoria doesn't exist, an assumption which I will not make, I think that's a fairly safe guess.

Again, "WPATH is biased I don't trust your source" would have sufficed.

And just so we're clear, a multiparagraph dogwhistle-rant about how evil some organization is for promoting transgenderism (which I think is safe to assume you also believe is evil) is irrelevant. Don't waste your time posting pointless gc circlejerk crap, unless that's the reason you're here in the first place in which case why should I bother responding to you. Some crazy links, Mark. I know you didn't do more than glance at them, though, because they're literally all the exact same study. A study of 98 participants, all of which are from the exact same clinic and so without a doubt all have the exact same doctor. Which I conveniently can't critique the data of because the single study you gave me (3 times in a row) has no full text available nor do they list any useful numbers in their abstract. And as i've stated, with regards to sports, I don't disagree. My issue is with junk science claims made in a topic it's clear they know nothing about. I really wonder if you actually read the things you link beyond a cursory peek.

[–]Greensquidsphone 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Hmmm.

I think it might be easier to understand if you seperate them by those who want to be visibly trans and those who want to blend in. Besides trenders being upset with transmed folks over gatekeeping or medicalisation of dysphoria, there are a lot upset with the idea that medicalist trans people have foremost the goal of blending in (since doing so would be a massive relief of dysphoria). For the visible group, they don't see dysphoria as something to treat and make better, it's more like they see transness as a whole an extension of queer culture, something to display proudly and openly. No hormones? Brave and valid. Hormones with no dysphoria? Brave and valid. They're the most vocally active group against self-medding by far, mostly because I don't think they have a real understanding of dysphoria and the medical system is general. You could probably get away with calling them GNC people who have co-opted (and then expanded) trans identity for themselves and be right most of the time.

Really just seperating them as two different groups and treating them as such is healthier and easier than keeping them under the same umbrella, considering how wildly different they are.

I never went on truelesbians for what I assume are obvious reasons, but glancing at an archive of it, it's literally just another r/gc. Every post in the archive is just 'trans bad' or 'im losing my friends cause I don't like trans people'.

Porn subs are even allowed to exclude transwomen from women for their allowed content.

Guess we have all the proof we need that reddit is anti trans, ladies and gentlemen, we got em. 😎

I'm not gonna deny that large corporations are anti women, because they objectively are, but there's a difference between being banned for just being women and being banned for being an easy to target hate group. r/gc and it's adjacent subs were banned, that included spaces that don't literally put in the title "we hate trans people".

I don't even know why I'm bothering arguing this it wasn't even a hill I care about it was just a throwaway line pointing out how obscure this sub is and how stupid it would be to run out the 4 or 5 trans people here because someone is too upset at trans people existing to say 'they'.

Edit: also it's super off-topic and I won't ever change anyone's mind so I'm not gonna continue this here...

You... Realize you guys aren't the only group attacking a minority group to be removed from these spaces, right? Like I get you think it's different because in your eyes you're morally above-ground but from the outside everyone sees you as another hate group.

I've seen countless gc people on Twitter block trans people who post hard medical data supporting transition, call out bad faith posts, etc. You personal anecdote of seeing the transes saying "shut up" is an anecdote, as in irrelevant.

I'm sure you can give me countless screenshots of trans people sending rape and death threats. I can send countless screenshots of radfems encouraging suicide in sms. Neither is indicative of the group as a whole.

Reddit also banned a lot of alt right subs and other hate groups. The fact that hate groups aren't advertiser friendly but porn is sucks but that's life you know. I'm all for the destruction of capitalism, hit me up.

Oh noooo people are being fired for being vocal about their hatred the humanity. Trans people get fired for being trans. If I got found out at my work id be fired on the spot, so yeah, sorry, really hard to care.

Does jkr sound reasonable? I've never seen anyone say don't read her stuff, again that's not my crowd so take it with a grain of salt but it's transparently using the exact same gc rhetoric we've been conditioned to spot from a mile away, it's nothing special.

I mean your issue is that the world disapproves of your "wrongthink" but I'm sure you're perfectly happy with the censoring of other's wrong thinking. I literally can't help you with that, and the conversation is irrelevant and extremely off topic and your opinions won't ever change so I'm ending the conversation. You're more than welcome to respond again, but I'm not going to keep it going.

I'm glad you've rationalized it that way, it couldn't possibly be anything else, your conclusion is definitely the right one.

That being said, I genuinely think most of gc gets this and would use neutral pronouns despite the rule.

That doesn't matter when all it takes is one or two prolific posters to make them decide it's not worth it.

So, I find it curious you're complaining this sub of being mostly a echo chamber.

Is it not? I mean, by raw metrics the gc to qt poster ratio is at least 6 to 1, and even gc posters are posting in this thread saying these new rules skew it GC.

Transactivists also strongly discourage its follower to read what the others sides have to say. "No debate" is literally one of its slogans.

Are you joking? I've never known a trans person who doesn't read bad gc takes for fun. I don't really know trender types, so maybe you and I are thinking of very different groups, but that's what it is I guess.

We're here because most plataforms on internet don't allow any wrong think, particularly as transgender issues are concerned

Then be more advertiser friendly? Idk that's all big platforms care about so if they see you as a hate group I really don't know how to help you with that. At least on reddit plenty of spaces still exist to hate on trans people in a less mask-off fashion.

Clearly man as in mankind is not what anyone is talking about

I don't even need to talk about trans people you proved yourself wrong for me in the very next post. Wow!

Why bring up the website having alt right shit if you weren’t trying to slip in some comparison as a jab?

I really don't want to have to explain it, House, but if I'm making a comparison as a jab do you really think that jab is "haha ur alt right" and not "this is the only space that will take you"?

alt-right website

We aren’t alt right

Reading comprehension. Its important.

you’ve made two saidit accounts just to say so?

I never set an email on my main account (on account of not wanting to give my email to an alt right website) and couldn't access it on my phone. Not really sure this is the gotcha you think it is though, house, considering it literally benefits saidit zero whether I have one account or two.

Language is applied and not static. Obviously you care particularly strongly about this though house, since, insofar as I can tell, the removal of that rule protects literally just you.

Whether thats figuring out the easiest way to get on medication where you are, finding places that will do blood tests, discussing blood hormone levels and where to be aiming, etc.

I guess in a more local sense I could also provide information for good therapists, assistance navigating the legal world, maybe help set up classes, clothes swaps, meetings, anything being physically available entails really.

I wonder if they are wanting to hold onto something from before transitioning, or they're trying to be transparent or honest about their biological sex.

From my admittedly scarce interaction with these kinds of people online, neither. It's got a lot to do with being visibly trans. I couldn't explain the thought process behind it if I tried, so take that as you will, but that's what's been point blank told to me on Twitter. I've also been told I'm transphobic for passing by the same people so I guess I'm one of the cool kids here 😎

God, Sloane it's like I say one thing and you go to Twitter, read something someone else wrote, and the complain to me about it as if I wrote it. Again, I personally am blaming 0 women for the assaults a man would commit. I am telling THE OTHER POSTER (though you're included seeing as you're just as willing to make up shit to justify why actually it's SAFER for me in the men's room or some shit) that claiming it is perfectly safe for me to consistently use men's restrooms to make their argument stronger is mental gymnastics.

I respect plenty of women. Just not most of the ones here. :)

I'm home from work, going to sleep, and it's my weekend so I won't have any reason to look here for a couple days. Lemme do the nicest thing I've ever done Sloane and tell you not to write a lengthy response after somehow interpreting that I get off on the destruction of women's rights because it will not be read. I also wonder how much "change" is something which has always been the same, and rather than different the change is just something new you've learned about yourselves. I grew up in a homophobic family, and never thought I'd like guys. Does the fact that I'm married to one now and find women completely unattractive mean I've changed, or I've simply grown to learn something about myself?

Obviously some things change. My politics were informed by my far-right parents until I moved away from them. I highly doubt I was destined to be a filthy lib, I just had a change of perspective.

I don't think it'd be possible to apply these characteristics to an entire group of people, they're probably much more on an individual basis.

It's the trolley problem and we both have different views on which side we should save. Given that every major rate of desistance study is riddled with issues which corrupt the data, and that we have settled on non permanent puberty blockers as the common adolescent treatment, I feel like the best answer is to a) gatekeep harder early and make a clear psychological distinction between gender incongruence and dysphoria, b) put more money into sussing out dysphoria in youth more accurately, and c) PROPERLY study desistence so we can find signs of it early and never put them on blockers or hormones in the first place.

It's not a perfect answer because one doesn't exist, but it's miles better than just saying well we have indeterminable numbers on desistence so sorry trans kids just wait til you're older and suffer that much more. It's also lofty and won't ever happen but idk perfect worlds and whatnot.

Which is hilarious considering you've added nothing to the discussion. Seriously your response to bullying being directly linked to an increased rate in suicide was "well they don't all commit suicide so". We can link societal actions to an increase in suicidality. The perpetrator of these actions is then at the very least indirectly responsible for those actions. Actions which, again, cause an increase in suicide. I cannot make it any simpler for you, Sloane. If I legislate out the ability for depressed people to get therapy, and the suicide rate increases in response, by your logic I have 0 responsibility for it, despite having directly increased the rate of suicides through my action. Obviously not every depressed person will kill themselves in this scenario, that doesn't make it any less my fault that the ones who have did so.

And once again

And nobody is responsible for suicide other than the person committing it.
