Your comment reminded me of something. What triggered the gilets jaunes in the first place was indeed Le Maricón's proposal to increase fuel tax as a form of climate action. However, after Le Maricón backed down, the movement had already gathered steam, the cat had been let out of the bag, and so it went on for some years.

And why did they oppose a fuel tax hike? Because it led to a price increase that directly impacted their personal lives.

And yet all of a sudden it looks as though the French public don't actually care about an increase in fuel prices after all? What was the whole point of the gilets jaunes, then? Are they really going to accept something that directly impacts their personal lives just to 'own the fascist Putintards'? After all, the anti-Le Pen position really is just based on conspiracy theories about how she's a 'Putintard Russian agent' and similar nonsense, rather than anything substantive. And the only 'proof' they have, which is doing the rounds on Twitter, hilariously, is some photo of the two shaking hands. That's literally their 'evidence'. And one can use a search engine to find dozens of photos of Macron and Putin also shaking hands in mere seconds, so what exactly is even their point here?

'Progressive' ideology really seems to have enough power to be overriding basic self-interests here. They really do seem to be thinking that whatever Le Pen offers, which is a bit of a wildcard, is actually worse than the obvious fuel shortages and whatever the hell else that Le Maricón offers. The average voter can essentially take a chance with Le Pen or take a big L with Le Maricón. And yet the choice they're making seems to be: 'Let's lose our jobs just to own le fascist Putintards and virtue signal!'

I actually think Le Pen losing would be better because she would be a powerless president anyway. The change France -- and the rest of Europe -- needs won't come from some national populist being elected. It will come from a literal insurgency, especially from within the military. The liberal elites in France are actually at risk of being overthrown by a military coup. Nowhere else in the West is the risk of such a coup -- and the support among the population -- as high as in France. The country is a ticking time bomb.

My view: A Le Pen victory would upset all of the right people, and a Macron victory would please all of the wrong people, who are going to be waffling on Twitter for weeks on end about how 'fascism' was defeated. But other than regarding who it pleases and upsets, I agree that a Le Pen Presidency cannot be much better than Trump.

Mostly, I think, because Le Pen isn't anywhere near as extreme as she has been portrayed, and we know this because even her own family have sort of 'politically disowned' her in favour of the more principled, less wishy-washy campaign of Zemmour. At least Zemmour has, on occasion, acknowledged the existence of a White/European race, even if his conception of Frenchness isn't quite as ethnic as I would like. Indeed, since his campaign did not harm Le Pen, he has gone somewhat up in my esteem. I always thought he was genuine because he has been in this for too long and suffered too much to simply be a grifter or something, and yet I also felt wary that he was being played by people more powerful than himself, because he was allowed to say so many things in his campaign that others would be in deep shit for saying publicly, to the point that he had seemed too good to be true.

I share wholeheartedly your hopes that the military will rid La Republique of Le Maricón and his friends.

So "owning the libs" is all that would benefit us? How is that in any way a serious position?

I mean, you have even said that Le Pen effectively denied the existence of a European people in that debate!

Read the context of that statement.

I agree.

The way I see it, every time something like this happens, a few more of those people will suicide, become drug addicted, become clinically mentally ill and so forth. Therefore, there are simply less of them.

By contrast, when they win, these same things will happen, but only to people more aligned with us instead.

Of course I want the negativity to be in their camp, especially since the only alternative is that it ends up in our general camp. Someone will always be unhappy; better them than us.

Obviously, if what you summarize as 'owning the libs' was read as hinting at some kind of perceived solution, that was not the intent.
