The Soviets invaded to move the Finnish border further from Leningrad. That's not an issue any more. The Finnish border is far from any strategic location in Russia today.

Russia's own performance in that war was enough to convince Hitler that busting through Soviet lines would have been easy. Which it was for the first year up until they stopped at Moscow.
