It's a complicated gesture that means different things in different cultures.

Ronnie James Dio was the one who brought it to heavy metal culture, and to him it had been the sign his Italian grandmother used to ward off the evil eye.

I think he probably lied about that, but I agree that it means different things to different people. To most people it just means "rock on", regardless of what it really meant to the artist.

It is used to ward off evil in Italy. So it's perfectly plausible:source

It has a similar meaning in yoga, which covers a hell of a lot of people: https://www.yogapedia.com/definition/7613/karana-mudra

Maybe more than those who take it to mean "rock on".

I don't consider hand gestures by robots when deciding whether to trust people.

Honda are a large enough company that they're never going to smell completely of roses, but they're all right.

I'd trust a devilbot more than a godbot.

Well, those aren't devil horns, that's an "I love you." The thumb is out.

Otherwise known as Canadian devil horns for a Nickleback show. Or, drunk chick thinks she's doing devil horns. Or, Nickleback fan gets tickets to a real metal show and forgets to tuck the thumb in and gets tossed in the pit and dies.

If this is a sign of genuine love, someone needs to tell the Knights In Satan's Service.

What /u/Canbot said applies to both variations of this body language:

it means different things to different people

Is that really what KISS stands for? I mean would they have admitted that at some point? I guess I'm a couple years too young, but I don't care enough to spend a bunch of time looking into it.

To the general public, they will not admit to it, but they tried to keep their works in the dark and out of the light. However, their lyrics make it obvious that they worked for the kingdom of hell.

The band's lyrics expose their true allegiance to the kingdom of hell, despite their attempts to conceal their intentions from the public.

Thanks, I genuinely just had never heard that before.
