Before a tsunami hits the sea retreats way out, before crashing down and destroying everything in its wake. I think this trickle of detransitioners/desisters that are making it into the media are the retreating sea before the tidal wave of detransition stories hits.

Nothing is going to turn normies against trans ideology quicker than stories of girls who cut off their breasts and now shave their beards daily and boys who have cut off their penises and testes. Fairly certain this is why the troons and Troon enablers have been fighting a vicious rearguard against detransitioners because they knew all along the power of their stories.

And if he ever goes to sue someone, it'll be the doctors and not those older troons who cultivated and groomed him to it by teaching him how get a pass for the process. And those are honestly the ones who need to be hauled into court. Doctor gets sued, the insurance eats it and passes the costs on. But if some of those troons get properly nailed, even if they have nothing to take, just getting out for what they are will be a solid blow. Maybe treat them like people who commit electronic crimes, with strict limits on device and Internet access.

Not really.

Doctors have the final say around these things and they should try and do their best work even if the culture around them is retarded.

What you're suggesting is suing everyone that follows a particular mindset whereas they don't actually have any say in what that person does with their body. If anything, parents should get sued at MOST.

If the doctors or even parents get sued, the [often communist] troons who cultivate/groom people into it will just respond "ha ha, money vacuum go brrr" and continue doing the same shit over and over again, even if- no, ESPECIALLY IF- the doctors/parents start refusing over these lawsuits. Many of them will even go so far as start flat-out saying "well, our whole movement works on threatening to sudoku if we don't get our transition- for the good of the whole movement, we have to ask you to take one for the team and end yourself for us."

The doctors and parents you're advocating to let detransitioners sue are the same people who were quite literally told by the detransitioner that the detransitioner would kill themselves if the parents didn't let them transition/the doctor didn't agree to transition them. Threatening to commit suicide in order to get someone to give you your way is recognized as an act of domestic violence.

To advocate for the doctors and parents to get sued and not the people actively grooming the detransitioner is to punish victims.

There's basic things a parent has to do because there will always be bad actors going after your kids. Also, you have to pick a good school.

Welcome to the Internet; clearly this is your first day on it. We're in a world where there's no possible way to 100% stop it anymore. You can't watch your kids 24/7, and the second you pass out trying your kids are going to be at risk. No matter how much you mete out and filter your kids' internet, no matter how much you make the kid mistrust anyone who's not directly in your family and look side-eyed at the other family members, SOMEONE is going to get through. And if you do all those things, your kid's going to lash out hard and more of them will get through.

They’re only allowing them to be groomed if you think that allowing your child any contact with the outside world is “allowing them to be groomed” it’s absolutely everywhere: TV, music, internet, movies, the schools, their friends, advertising. You can’t really escape it unless you’re completely out of the culture you’re subjected to the absolute firehose of propaganda in all the subjects that the regime values.

Yes you can try to do that, but keep in mind that you’re sending a child to try to reason with adults here. You can allow your kids to stand in front of the firehouse and try to reason against adults, but it’s kinda a foregone conclusion that an 8 year old will simply believe what every part of the culture is telling him, especially when it’s authorities like his teacher.

The First Amendment protects freedom of expression, including the freedom to be a bad influence, so you couldn't -- in the U.S. at least -- charge someone under current law. It's like cults. You can't charge cult leaders with the crime of being a cult leader, because it's not a crime, no matter how much actual damage they do to other people's lives.

Doctors, on the other hand, are bound by professional ethics, the first and foremost of which is the famous, "Do No Harm." If they are harming patients in their care, they should be sued for malpractice. I think I remember hearing recently that in some states, insurance companies providing malpractice insurance for doctors were refusing to insure doctors who practice "gender affirming care." I think the insurance companies see which way this is going.

But "Do No Harm" means that these doctors are literally in a no-win situation because the detransitioners make it clear they'll off themselves if you don't approve them for transition: Either you trans them and do harm to them, or you do not, they off themselves, and you did harm to them by not.

The tiebreaker would be them threatening to off themselves, which goes to "not a jury in the world would convict them of malpractice because the doctor was forced into doing the transition under threat of the person suing them offing themselves." This would absolutely fall under the duress defense, and the vast majority of doctors and parents will absolutely be able to claim duress in this regard and get off (or get a vastly reduced punishment)- but the groomers will not have that.

So the only practical approach may be to restrict medical transition legally for those under the age of 18.

Likely, though again, no-win situation: It makes sense, but all it takes is one doctor who restricts medical transition to an under-18, the kid offs themselves, and the grieving parents file a malpractice lawsuit under "If only you had just agreed to transition them my baby would still be alive today!" - and the doctor's in the same boat as they would have been otherwise.

The real practical approach would be: Have doctors/parents save the receipts. That way, when the detransitioner inevitably does make a lawsuit against them, the doctors/parents can prove to the court "wait a second, we agreed under duress against our will because YOU held your own life hostage to get to transition. You threatened to off yourself if we didn't agree to do this transition/these surgeries to you" = and would require the courts to take this information into place and make the legal decision "Careful what you wish for, you just might get it."

(Note: This also ties to why the groomers could have a chance at being sued as responsible in this case; since they do most of their work on the Internet and were a friend of the detransitioner, the detransitioner likely has receipts or can get from Skype/Discord/etc. the receipts proving the groomer gave them a script of how to threaten suicide to get their way from the parents/doctors, or gave them ways to get HRT without it...which in turn can lead to courts finding them culpable for it.)

I've never understood this ideology, & it's stupid to me. They're still gay males who are still attracted to other males. Doesn't matter what you have them do to their bodies, they're still males. I fully support them going after their doctors and anyone else who encouraged them to transition. I’ll leave it to them to decide what “going after” entails.

That being said, these people have a knack for turning their problems into everyone else’s problem, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see some sort of moment where those who detransition demand some sort of reparations from the rest of society.

I have limited sympathy. Yes, they are often led astray by people online and their doctors. But can you honestly tell me these people had nobody in their lives telling them this was a mistake? Remember, they brag about using threats of suicide to get what they want.

They weren’t just “groomed”, their own narcissism and arrogance made them tune out people who were actually trying to stop them from making a bad decision, and they were ignored.

You can be led astray, but you also have to take responsibility for ignoring good advice.

But when he was 13 he was probably one of those kids that said he should have the right even though he was not of age to give consent. Now that the sour grapes have set in (pun intended), why do I care? The problem isn't detransitioning, the problem is removing the safe environment for children to grow in by denying parental rights to determine what is best.
