Did that get cross-posted on a TRA sub or something? Those top comments are legitimately unhinged

Probably.

One of Reddit politics subs I posted on got routinely brigaded any time something trans related came up.

What happened was the 'transwomen in prisons/women's sports are a bad idea' posts would get upvoted for the first couple of hours then you'd suddenly have a load of TRA posting and masses of downvotes.

It's very important to maintain the illusion that most people agree with them... But they don't.

Try asking adults if it's okay to put intact males into women's prisons.. near universal head shaking. But if they maintain the illusion that that view is a minority, the public won't speak out.

Hence the brigading.

It's nuts that all the comments are like "your best friend is a transphobic bigot and so are you for associating with her" "Is your best friend a TERF?" "- she obviously is"

NO ONE EVEN KNOWS WHAT SHE SAID LMAAOOOOOOOOO

Witch hunt in action. Not a one person even knows the thing this friend said but she and OP and complete garbage anyway.

I am loving the bot response to the "What is a woman" question.

I'm willing to bet no one would boycott the wedding because of racist grandma or sexist dad. I've even seen people invite known pedophiles to events and no one boycotted. This witch hunt is going too far.

Seriously - this. I have uncles who voted for Trump who will be attending my wedding (if I have one). Trump aligned himself with someone who actually has deep ties to gay conversion therapy, and a platform that doesn't think that gay people should be allowed to get married. Uncle doens't believe these things, just doesn't value gay rights over whatever he thinks that Trump gives him. No one one Reddit would boycott my wedding because I have some boomers in attendance. No one sees my Boomer uncle as a personal attack against themselves.

They only want to police the shit out of women's thoughts, still.

Believing and insisting that everyone who participates in or attends an event like a wedding or a funeral must be ideologically in lockstep fits the dictionary definition of bigotry to a T: intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.

It's because most people aren't buying into the TRA ideology.

I would take that logical "TERF" friend over any childish relatives/friends anyday if I was that OP lol.

That just goes to show those relatives have the emotional maturity of a child for getting upset over different (and factually/scientifically correct) views.

My MIL doesn’t like the uninvited people, and asked them to f*ck off when they asked her to also not attend.

Let them 'boycott' the wedding. MIL even thinks they're ridiculous babies LOL. She's there for her son/daughter and son/daughter-in-law.

No idea what the MOH said and the assumption is that she’s a transphobe and instantly vilified. You have to do and say 100% as TRAs want without any nuance or else you instantly endure their wrath. If that’s not culty I don’t know what is.

Speaking broadly, I'd say that being friends with someone with opposing beliefs isn't just not bad, but it's actually good. There's a lot of reasons why I think it's good, but one that I hope everyone can get behind is that such friendships are one thing that makes it possible for one or both of the friendship dyad to grow as a person.

The top comments made my stomach turn. But I was so happy to read through and see others voting NTA. WTF people. It's her damn wedding.
