Thoughts on the Term "Marriage Equality" by mvmlego in Bisexuals

[–]diapason 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed. It's a really vague term—another interpretation of it could be that it's referring to equality within a marriage (i.e. husband does as much housework as his wife). I'm of the opinion that terms should generally be pretty immediately understood by anyone who has a basic knowledge of the debate around an issue… confusing terminology just doesn't help anyone. Another one that annoys me is "pro-life" versus "pro-choice"… "pro-life" could mean anything, are you against the death penalty? vegetarian or vegan? anti-war? opposed to euthanasia? "pro-choice" only makes sense within the context of the debate, but makes more sense than "pro-abortion" would I guess… but the right to an abortion is always described as "a woman's right to choose" which, while we all know what it means, for clarity should probably be "a woman's right to choose to have an abortion". I feel like debate is just always better when the issues aren't shrouded in language that's almost euphemistic for how vague it is

And who lynched them, praytell? Your passive voice here is hiding a lot… we all know who lynched them, it was white men. Don't describe it as some inevitable force of nature when it isn't. Whenever a black man was lynched, a group of white men made the decision to murder him. And don't blame that on women either. No matter what horrible thing any woman says, she's not responsible for men choosing to gang up on and murder other men. Totally agree. It's an intentionally vague term that covers a whole breadth of things (anything from stripping to camgirling to being a sugarbaby to prostitution to being a pimp/madam) so they can obfuscate what exactly they mean and act like they have authority on the experience of being a prostitute when really they mean "I sold nudes on the internet once"

Wow, what did we ever do to get compared to r/incels and r/The_Donald? TBH I think if people think our movement is right wing, they just haven't looked into it. They're the types to smear everything as -ist or -phobic, and they can't imagine any left wing or non-partisan criticisms of the trans movement, they just pretend we must hate trans people rather than that we have legitimate criticisms not based in hatred

[–]diapason 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

One belief of gender identity ideology is that bisexuals are the "best" sexual orientation because "bisexuals don't fetishize genitals" (ugh, so many things wrong with that statement but we'll ignore that for a sec). However, this post seems to be suggesting that lesbian is better than bisexual because "lesbian is more queer," which supports the "bisexuals' same-sex attraction is lesser than lesbians'/gay men's same-sex attraction" stereotype.

They like "lesbians" who are actually bisexual (into women and transwomen) and seem to tolerate "bisexuals" who are actually lesbians (into women and transmen). I don't think it's the whole Opression Olympics thing for why they prefer "lesbians", I think it's just that they treat sexual orientations as lifestyles and LGB 'identities' as being like a club for cool people rather than only being descriptors of someone's natural sexual orientation. Being straight isn't a sexual orientation to them, it's a boring lifestyle choice (and therefore to be dreaded because they have the maturity of a goldfish), which is how they end up criticizing someone like Pete Buttigieg for not being "queer enough" and suggesting that somehow, despite being married to a man, he's basically heterosexual. They also think of "lesbian" or "gay" as being lifestyles rather than descriptors of sexual orientation, which is how r/AL comes up with the "uwu sapphic love" crap. So, to them, a "lesbian" 'identity' is cooler than a "bisexual" one, and they all want in to the "lesbian" club whether they actually belong or not (their natal sex or innate sexual orientation be damned)

(Obviously that's aside from all the male fetishists on that sub who call themselves lesbians for fetishistic reasons)

Most of you have never met a trans person yet you all make it sound as if standing outside your house is every trans person on the planet and they all want to sleep with you.

When half the time the follow up question after you mention your sexual orientation is "would you ever date a trans person?" it's a bit hard not to get irritated with the constant attempts to pressure you to be open to sleeping with them, don't you think?

This is good analysis. Interesting how there aren't any transmen in men's prisons because it would be too dangerous, yet officials feel comfortable placing transwomen in women's prisons? Either male-born people are dangerous to female-born people or they aren't, the lack of consistency really shows they only indulge men's desires that put women in danger

The most popular puberty blocking drug, Lupron, is commonly used to treat hormonal tumors, such as prostate cancer. In fact, that's one of the reasons terfs like to flaunt statistics that say that Lupron causes death in a frighteningly large portion of people: those people already had cancer.

You know what else Lupron is used for? Chemically castrating sex offenders. And you want to give that shit to children willy-nilly? And I've never heard the stats about overall death from all Lupron patients—I'm not sure those stats exist—only about increased risk of death in women taking it for precocious puberty (who presumably do not have prostate cancer), and most of the time it's the severe bone density problems in young people that are talked about more often.
