This an anti-Saidit comment. The only shills here are the South Asian spammers selling bone conducting earphones. Absolutely no other user here is paid to be here or is here as part of their job. Those who claim this have incredibly inflated notions of themselves (that the only ones disagreeing with them must be paid to do so). Saidit is not profitable for shills, whereas Reddit is FAMOUS for the international shills (don't get me started on that). One of the very few good qualities of Saidit is that it's shill-free (with the exception of spammers). I'd also argue that there is more trolling on Reddit by the kiddos who'd rather do pun jokes than discuss the topics. (I can't believe I have to defend Saidit. I need a shrink.)

So if you can ignore those, or can laugh about them, this is a good place.

You'll learn /u/AngelaMagic who the sincere users are, as there are only 30 or 40 regular users, if that, and most of them aren't normally trolling.

That's the beauty, you can say that, or you can say they are not. On Reddit you can only say one of these things, which is why it is disappointing.
Example: Suing people for misgendering is ridiculous, in a world in which trans are still beaten to death, fighting speech and microaggressions you made up is a slap to the face of who needs help the most, and only a first world country would bring something as out of touch.

Reddit seems to be full of people who are needlessly unpleasant to me. I try not to pay attention to them. Edit: Reddit was pretty decent ten years ago but it has gone steadily downhill since Aaron Schwartz died.

I am not familiar with Discord. I did some voice-chat TRPG gaming on Discord for the "Cyberpunk RED" version of Cyberpunk 2020. Also I have done voice chat with people I know on Discord once or twice. As far as I can tell, Discord is not a discussion forum, it is mostly a voice chat service.

Saidit seems to be an ordinary discussion forum of the sort reddit used to be ten years ago.

Extreme racism and transphobia aren't just accepted here, they're the norm. As is climate science denial, supporting the invasion and annexation of neighbouring countries, so long as it's Russia.

It's a lot more like 4chan 10 years ago than Reddit 10 years ago. But with fewer people posting.

So to engage here, you need to block everyone except half a dozen reasonable people, or have an interest in what motivates people to support or do genuine evil, in the sense of spending effort to make someone else's life worse.

Agreed on all points, though my approach has not been to block anyone. I just try to remember the users I don't wish to respond to. Some of the worst users try to draw me into a debate that's nothing more than them trolling. /u/AngelaMagic , I'd say the same as ActuallyNot, though with the addition that you can write anything you want, as long as it's not promoting murder or linking to pornography (though mods rarely bother to notice these days). Secondly, there are occasional opportunities to see here what users think of their favorite right-wing topics, or propaganda, or misinformation. You'd have to be prepared to get responses that are really dumb and mean, which are often the norm, but Saidit is also a window onto the latest right-wing propaganda that one can discuss openly. (EG. /r/worldnews would ban anti-Israel comments, though /r/worldnewsvideo allows an honest approach to the genocide of Palestinians, and Saidit is somewhat mixed on this topic.) Feel free to return an insult if you wish. There is also a 'chat' channel on the right side where there are occasional discussions in the #subscribed channel. It's sometimes active in the evenings. I'm here to learn about the latest in right-wing brainwashing, and sometimes to argue about politics, though I am more of a centrist. I was banned for recommending that Tucker Carlson should be slowly tortured to death, and returned with a different username (ban evasion is also a bannable offense, but admins aren't very concerned). TL:DR I recommend Saidit as a place to occasionally learn what the right-wingers are up to, though you may want to avoid some of the hostility and stupidity that comes with the far right agenda of spreading lies. [edit: SMCAB is perhaps the worst user on Saidit; an example of why Redditors have called Saidit a place of 'schizo dumbasses'. SMCAB is as hostile as he is incredibly stupid; to be avoided.]

      Saidit was never much popular or active in the first place.

      But then there was this massive permaban wave of right wing, incel and gender critical communities on Reddit and many users from those banned subs came here for a short while. It made Saidit much more active and alive than usual, many new subs were created. But then those former Reddit users created their own websites and forums, and migrated once again, leaving Saidit behind.

      And so Saidit become once again obscure and empty.

      Maybe a few years ago it was, but it's effectively a dead site now. Of the very few active users, the majority are either progressive trolls or schizophrenic flat earth tier nut jobs. Also the remaining admin doesn't know how to deal with spam properly so if you're on a page for more than a minute or two you have to refresh before you can comment.
