Has anyone ever tried to sue Reddit? by IAMANAnarchist in AskSaidIt

I work for a very large IT company that I am sure Reddit uses our products. Our office NAT IP address is blocked by Reddit, yet we have several very busy subreddits modded by employees. Reddit has gotten to big for their own good.

As an It pro who runs multiple reddit accounts I would like to hear more including the name of the .exe and how / why you think this.

From what I can tell they just use cookies to track you, I have seen no indication of any .exe or any attempt to install an .exe

Clear your cookies and use a VPN because they do monitor IP addresses.

The funny thing is Reddit can't ban you. They can try but knowledge of vpns and proxies will prevent them from banning you.

I have so many alternative reddit accounts, it is a bit of a game getting banned from subreddits buy just posting conservative views.

Dear banned redditor, why are you here? by Reddit-mod in AskSaidIt

[–]Fearmonger 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Reddit can't ban you. They can ban an IP address, you can change that, they can ban a user name, you can change that, they can ban an email address, you can get another one.

Requiring a non pre-paid phone number is about the only fairly effective (can still get around that but it takes more effort) method to ban someone and that has some holes in it too.

Easy to change IP address, use VPN or tor. Devices can be virtual, bluestacks, vms etc.

If the accounts are free, it is impossible to ban someone.

Cash spending without registering a loyalty card isn't tracked. I know it is getting harder and harder to buy without leaving a trail, but it is possible.

This is why staying as anonymous as you can be on the internet is important. This is why 2 factor auth is a bad thing. Accounts should always be throw away. True free speech can only be had when there are no consequences for speaking your mind. Never tie your online accounts to your real life.

Not an accurate headline. All registered voters get mailed a mail in ballot. We do verify signatures on the ballots and an ID is required to register. Or voting laws are not even close to what was passed in Georgia but their are checks in place to stop voter fraud.

Constitutional rights only apply to the government.

Social Media does not have to allow free speech. They could ban any type of speech they want. If so inclined they could require everyone on their platform to always have to talk like a pirate and ban those who don't comply.

The Free market allows you to work with these companies and their TOS rules or go work with a company that has rules and TOS that you prefer. If there isn't an alternative then you are free to create your own, with your own TOS and rules.

Constitutional concerns are not the way to address this issue. The Sherman Act and Anti-Trust suites will be more effective and applicable.

Yes they track IP addresses. I got a 3 day ban evasion ban for using a second account on a sub that I got banned from. I think they only look at the IPs when they see content they don't like cause I have other accounts that I also post in banned subs but as long as I echo the correct words it hasn't been a problem.
