What is the real status of turning AI into an AGI or ASI? by s8cyprks in technology

Not working on it but:

A recent outburst:

https://www.cnet.com/news/ai-is-very-stupid-says-google-ai-leader-compared-to-humans/

This article: https://www.informationweek.com/big-data/why-ai-is-so-brilliant-and-so-stupid/a/d-id/1332011 lays it out pretty nicely though a bit optimistic in my view.

So a big no, no no, NOOOO on AGI or ASI.

Maybe consider taking up smoking cigarettes, might be healthier than breathing in this.

I'm surprised that you believe in his words.

? Where did you get that impression?

If he took his meds, I'm really really sure that he would be alive today.

I know of no pill nor serum that could stop a train.

I've not (yet) heard him speak about what medication he took, but while he took it and after he stopped there was little difference except he seemed more cheerful. Even when he was on his medication, he still got in fights with his parents and after he became homeless after his last mental hospital take in, I wouldn't know if the system provided him with any medication at all.

Taking 'meds' isn't a wonder-cure especially when you're isolated in a small room in your parents home or homeless.

Delusions or God, without it "he would just a be a nameless coder working for big companies".

Why did god speak to him in unintelligible, random words?

God didn't do that... he first was guided by God through his Radio during his first psychotic break. Now I'm not so far (in the archive mentioned below) as to where he mentions coming up with his dictionary bash script, but in TempleOS you can speak with god about chess and other things, it's not random, it's just God guiding you. When you're honest the words are of God and will guide you.

His bash script (named 'gw' as in GodWord, GodsWord, GodWords and GodsWords) was for Ubuntu and goes like:

printf "$(shuf -n 32 /usr/share/dict/words-insane --random-source=/dev/urandom | tr '\n' ' ')\n"

except with another dictionary. But again, that's not in The Temple. (Youtube is scrubbed except for some meme videos, but here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqFgtYrw4J8 @3:20 you can see the chess talk).

The third temple must be in physical building - not an OS.

Nope: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Temple#Christian_views

And the whole wikipage are just the views of the book-dwelling, by doctrine enslaved and gravely mistaken self proclaimed authorities on the word of God.

If you're interested I've got a magnet link somewhere linking to a +-875 (or 850) GB archive compiled prior and after his death because of the internet purge he routinely was subjected to. (Largely because of his limited vocabulary when it came to people he disagreed with).

It was God who ordered him to to make it and it is a fully functional OS just no networking except for the direct contact with God.

If he didn't talk to God he would just a be a nameless coder working for big companies like he did before his apotheosis.

I used /s/technology to report his death and /s/SYSADMIN for shrineOS https://saidit.net/s/SYSADMIN/comments/71c/shrineos_templeos_for_heretics

/s/SYSADMIN is basically OS-general.

Ahem, Terry made it clear in words I will not repeat, that he does not want to be associated with Linus. As Terry was a professional and made his own compiler1 .

And yes, please don't point out he used Ubuntu for the live-streams and other network related stuff.

May he code in peace in heaven.

U.S. has spent $6 trillion on wars that killed 500,000 people since 9/11, a report says by magnora7 in news

[–]Mnemonic 2 insightful - 1 funny2 insightful - 0 funny3 insightful - 1 funny -  (0 children)

Wednesday's report found that the "US military is conducting counterterror activities in 76 countries, or about 39 percent of the world's nations, vastly expanding [its mission] across the globe." In addition, these operations "have been accompanied by violations of human rights and civil liberties, in the US and abroad."

This toll "does not include the more than 500,000 deaths from the war in Syria, raging since 2011"

"In addition, this tally does not include 'indirect deaths.' Indirect harm occurs when wars' destruction leads to long term, 'indirect,' consequences for people’s health in war zones, for example because of loss of access to food, water, health facilities, electricity or other infrastructure," it added.

They could have gone with another title...
