[REUPLOAD] Polish children on twitter jump on a hate bandwagon and call JK Rowling transphobic. by [deleted] in therearetwogenders

Oddly I have never in my life seen "fuck homophobes" narrative on polish internet.,but there is some wokest purpose now, clearly. TRAs x polish politics = wild backlash for lgb. Poland skipped the step of giving LGB legal recognition, abortions are illegal, women rights are weak AF, but let's talk about feelz and wearing different clothes on different occasions. 0/10, would recommend.

Thank you, exactly. Just another iteration of not like other girls in the current context. Absolutely meaningless and mindless way of dealing with sexism, instead of calling it out and naming it. Hope it goes out of fashion soon.

I watched it. It's a documentary about how trans people are depicted in media, mostly cinematography. Many parts of it seem to be ripped apart from historical and deeper context. Like some of the speakers just waffle on about transphobia in 500 words where it could have been stated in 2 words about misogyny and then 3 about transphobia. I gave up after about 45 minutes, I will be honest. I was expecting that maybe it will provide me with some insight contrary to my beliefs, but it really did not. The part that irked me most was an analysis of a movie where a man was trying some shady non consensual sex on trans women and ceased upon the discovery of his victims sex. The narrative skipped the rape bit and jumped to the calamities of transphobia. Sorry, i don't remember the title of the movie they referred too, probably a well known one.

It made me think that presenting transphobia or trans rights in complete vacuum, without even scratching the surface of sexism and other inequalities is lacking the point in any debate, other than some people talking about how upset they are. I wonder who was the material aimed at, probably not me haha.

What are some small, but measurable ways we can contribute to lesbians spaces (online or irl) and culture? by [deleted] in Lesbians

Brilliant question, thanks for the post. Is anybody aware of some github projects related to our spaces? I am in a very early stage of identifying local organisations (and veryfying them) but because of the brigading and no platforming it's kinda hard to find the irl communities.

UK's National Health Service changes trans guidance to reflect reality by greenbeans in GenderCritical

I am glad that NHS changed the description to more accurate. I bet that in 10 years or maybe even sooner, there be a massive wave of claims against the trust from the grown up transitioners. The damage has been done, and I can imagine that many parents took their kids for treatment in good faith and just by having trust in NHS stuff.

Underfunded mental health services + "simple" answer to complex mental health and socioeconomical problems = increase in adolescent transitioners.

Medicalisation of issues must be giving young people the feeling of their problems viewed as serious enough. Transition is also giving them the sense of community, the general aim of all actions and the falsely stable sense of identity. No doctor will ever put "societal misogyny" as a diagnosis. It will always be hysteria, anorexia nervosa, BPD, depression, or now transgenderism.

Visits in gender clinics should be prefaced with compulsory module on gender dynamics throuought the history with an assessment. Not to mention company of the usual CBT and family therapy etc, but as far as I know that was one of the problems in Tavistock, the clinicians were making decisions straight after first visit.

I peaked in an absolute rage just about recently, the bans solidified my rage

I was brought up in a conservative European country, no chances of secularity in any sphere of life. After tomboy childhood, I realised that I am a lesbian once I was about 12. Everything until I was 18yo and moved out was an absolute mess. Dysphoria? How not to feel dysphoric when literally everyone is allowed and entitled to objectify my body and the government holds tight onto convictions like "the skirt was to short, so the rape is excused". Fast forward, I was about 20 and started to participate in women's rights and LGBT organisations. 10 years later, my country of birth is avidly homophobic and misogynistic, no gay rights, abortion is banned and penalised.

I finally managed to get away to a Western country couple of years later. I wasn't politically active as all of my energy was consumed by providing for myself. I would casually browse AL. At first, around 2017, I would notice some sporadic trans lesbians posts and not think much of it, just take it as a technical possibility that this combination might happen. I was rather sympathetic towards their plight, thinking that it must suck to be them. Here I am, in a nice country with LGB rights recognized, rainbow flags everywhere, surely those people have it much worse then I do.

In 2018 I joined a dating app. That was my first experience of LGBT space in over 5 years. I noticed that barely anybody uses the term lesbian, even though I tried my best to match the criteria. I noticed disproportionate amount of trans women, but I thought that's just me being not up to date with current discourse. I operated on an assumption that it must be the next stage of the movement, and that everybody is just smashing the gender shackles. I didn't click on yet. I was incredibly lucky to find a great woman and fall in love happily.

Come the end of 2019, I started to realise that the transbian posts are not an outlier and a part of a bigger debate. I started reading up both sides. Imagine my disappointment, when I realised that instead of smashing gender stereotypes, the libfem movement worked tirelessly to reinstantiate every vile gender stereotype that ever existed. I had been oblivious as fuck. The rage grew ever since. I learned that lesbian "is an umbrella term", that I have a female brain, that I should accept and love dick. Half of this shit is exactly the stuff that I have heard before from extremely homophobic women hating catholic church. I realised there is a clear cut clash or rights. Up to the moment when I emigrated, I would hear that my orientation is a preference. Yet here I am, hearing that again 10 years later. I recognise that I am quite privileged in many spheres, but for fucks sakes how come that in 2020 mentioning women's rights on a lesbian online community is a bannable offence!? Then it was JKR tweets, reddit banwave and now I am catching up with years of obliviety. I lurked on GC, lgbdropthet, TL and was overjoyed that there's a current opposing to this shit. Now it's deplatform. Thanks to the mods for creating this back up. Everything is political, I am reeducating myself on radfem and won't let my guard down again.

I got banned from AL for replying to the comment "Haha, glad those animals got fucked, terf have no space" with "Will dehumanising people who won't date you make them date you?" ¯_(° ͜ʖ °)_/¯ For a minute I thought I will have to institutionally oppress people on the high street, but then I turned to SaidIt.

Reddit accounts deleted. Thanks to mods for organising the back up on SaidIt. It's hard to believe the scale of no-platforming. The penile shitshow on ActualLesbians was unbearable. TRAs basically say that objectification of lesbians is the way to go and deny that sexism exists. I don't want to deal with "girldicks" and only couple of years ago I moved out countries to run away from the constant "you haven't found the right man", "if I fucked you, you would be straight" and many worse. Once again, thanks for creating this space!
