I watched it , and overall it’s good , but the one problem is that they all think that trans woman and biological woman have the same issues

Oh, thanks for the answer! Anything else that you thought that it wasn't it? Or would you recommend it?

You are welcome , and the second negative point is that they think that not telling a partner or someone close to them should act nicely when they know the truth , and that they have the right to lie , but it’s what I understood, and yes watch it you can still learn facts

I watched it. It's a documentary about how trans people are depicted in media, mostly cinematography. Many parts of it seem to be ripped apart from historical and deeper context. Like some of the speakers just waffle on about transphobia in 500 words where it could have been stated in 2 words about misogyny and then 3 about transphobia. I gave up after about 45 minutes, I will be honest. I was expecting that maybe it will provide me with some insight contrary to my beliefs, but it really did not. The part that irked me most was an analysis of a movie where a man was trying some shady non consensual sex on trans women and ceased upon the discovery of his victims sex. The narrative skipped the rape bit and jumped to the calamities of transphobia. Sorry, i don't remember the title of the movie they referred too, probably a well known one.

It made me think that presenting transphobia or trans rights in complete vacuum, without even scratching the surface of sexism and other inequalities is lacking the point in any debate, other than some people talking about how upset they are. I wonder who was the material aimed at, probably not me haha.

Oh thank you so much! This is exactly the kind of insight I was looking for! So, I was debating between give it a chance or not because it could be about factual representation or just TRAs ideology, but from what you've said, it leads towards the ideology. I have mixed feelings towards Laverne Cox because I loved Orange is the New Black as a show and how (mainly) representative it was. However, her activism lacks empathy and she just focus on trans individuals, such as the trans prisoner (sexual abuser and rapist) she defended. Thanks again for your contribution! I'd love to talk more about movies and series and how they represent these kind of characters and how "real" are!
