Have you asked him why he wants to be a girl? I'm curious about where the whole new wave of all these boys/men wanting to be women is coming from. I mean I obviously know from toxic echo chambers but what are the reasons they give other people. What does being a girl even mean to them? I also find it curious there are more men wanting to be women than women wanting to be men.

It's sad your friend can't discuss that topic other than repeating what they hear online. Saying they feel a certain way doesn't negate biology. I hope your friend can breakaway from the groupthink before they do something drastic like take hormones. Maybe it is worth having a gentle debate just so he hears another side. The hormones and surgery are very serious and the fact that you can buy hormones online without medical supervision is outrageous and extremely dangerous.

i feel like the reason anyone wants to change their gender is the stereotypes enforced on men and women. men are usually told to be tough and strong, while women are usually told to be submissive and polite. i think men want to be women so they can be able to do "feminine" things without being judged, same probably goes for women but reversed. there are probably more men that want it then women because those kinds of stereotypes aren't enforced on females nearly as much today. as a woman i honestly can't see the appeal of being one, we're weaker, shorter, and honestly don't have many benefits when it comes to biology.

it kind of feels like my friend is too far in at this point. he simply refuses to acknowledge biology and actual science. it's a shame too, he's only 14 and the only things stopping him from taking hormones is the fact that he's scared of doing it under 18. the second he turns 18 i have no doubt he'll try to go for it tho. i'm hoping to encourage him to seek therapy for his gender dysphoria, i don't want him to harm himself over something like this. it makes me sad how so many people our age are being told they're something they're not (and literally can't be) over the stupid stuff enforced on genders.

This aspect has always struck me as particularly odd, because I feel l like as a society we spent decades trying to de-emphasize those gender roles and gender stereotypes, and now suddenly they've flipped it around and say falling in to those stereotypes are a good basis for getting permanent surgery! Which seems extremely regressive to me, not progressive.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

i agree. though while these stereotypes aren't nearly as enforced as they used to be, they're still present. though how extreme they are depends on where you live, your upbringing, and community you live in. but it still doesn't matter how much they're enforced, as forever changing your life for something biologically impossible isn't worth it.

[–]Girlwiththeraventat 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

I understand that it comes from not fitting in or rejecting stereotypes, but that is such a drastic step just because they want to wear a dress or whatever. I dont think people, especially teenagers, are thinking about the long term of transitioning.

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

i completely agree. but i've seen a lot of people in my age group want it for that exact reason. but i think it comes from how us teenagers are pretty fucking stupid. in general teens tend to get easily manipulated, and people on the internet could be making them consider these kinds of drastic changes.

[–]Girlwiththeraventat 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

That's disappointing because that's really just further enforcing the stereotypes. Yeah most teenagers are dumb, but a lot grow out of it. It's normal because your brain isn't fully developed. That's the predatory nature of this movement, taking kids insecurities and using that to further their agenda. That's why you shouldn't be allowed to transition or take hormones as a kid or teenagers.

[–][deleted] 11 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

that's exactly how i feel about this whole thing. we should be focusing on proper treatment for gender dysphoria, not allowing people with it to live in a lie and enforcing the gender stereotypes that most likely cause it.

[–]beermeem 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

This is what gets me. That’s why I do support the concept of “gender” and “sex” being different. The idea that “sex” and “gender” are the same is what leads to people thinking they need to go the medical route to express their gender.

Make up all the gender you want. Hell if I care. But there’s only three sexes — XX, XY, and XXY.

Like, go be a drag queen sweety and learn to tuck. You don’t gotta cut your dick off.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

yes! gender and sex are and always have been the same thing. i have no clue who came up with the notion they aren't. the person who came up with that bullshit is the reason people have so many issues with their gender.

[–]beermeem 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Would you agree that there should be a word for an individual’s biological identity and then a different word for socially imposed expectations of behavior and presentation based thereon?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

yes, if it exists you can tell it to me too. it sounds like a good idea

[–]Lastrevio 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The chromosomes don't mean shit. There's no practical use to define the word "sex" to mean your chromosomes, we as humans would have nothing beneficial by defining it that way. There are people with down syndrome and all sorts of illnesses, what are those?

I think we should use the word sex to mean every physical characteristic and the gender should be purely mental. So your sex is whether you have tits or not, whether you have a dick or a vagina and the hormonal balance in your body (which affect your fat distribution, etc.). This way both biological and trans women would be of the women "sex" since there's little to no directly observable differences but would still have different chromosomes and shit.

If you want to separate biological from trans women then we could have a different word for it like birth sex. This layout could clear out confusion.

Then gender would be purely metaphysical. So someone born male who hasn't transitioned but wants to become a female by surgery and hormones would have male birth sex, male physical sex and female gender. After they transition they're male birth sex, female physical sex and female gender.

This would be the most consistent and clear way we could define those terms imo for the most efficient communication.

[–]PostmodernJukebox 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

poor kid. i think a lot of teenagers see trans as cool and rebellious and new....like kids in my day saying they were bi or bpd for attention. hopefully he'll grow out of it. being a teenager is hard.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

i hope so too

[–]Lastrevio 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think the reasons MtF are found more often than FtM are cultural considering the detrans community represents only like 3% of the whole trans community or something. This means that almost all people who transitioned actually had gender dysphoria so cultural standards had no effect on them.

I’m a woman and would love to be a man. Lol

Physical strength, taken more seriously by people, no expectation to be a caretaker or mother, don’t lose muscle as easily, more vitality from T, no periods, orgasm more easily...

But on the other hand, I can just be a woman who does whatever the fuck she wants ;)

[–]Girlwiththeraventat 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

See that was my thought, if we get to chose willy nilly now that more women would choose to be men. I like being a woman and wouldn't want to be a man. I do feel like there are less disadvantages to being a man.

[–]v3r3na 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

I disagree with this. Having a son made me more aware that both sexes have disadvantages that cannot always be compared. Males are at a higher risk of disease, disability and death at all ages. Even the risk of miscarriage is higher if you're pregnant with a boy rather than a girl. It also depends on what you want to do with your life. I wouldn't want to miss the experience of pregnancy and breastfeeding. I've never felt such a powerful and satisfying connection. I also feel more balanced than before. This doesn't mean that all women will share this experience. Every individual has different life circumstances. I don't think it always helps to try to quantify how much one group is disadvantaged compared to another because their are huge individual differences and differing perspective on whether something is an advantage or disadvantage.

[–]beermeem 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Wait, someone making sense on the internet?

[–]PostmodernJukebox 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

dont have to shave, could grow a sweet beard, dont have to be skinny to have value...i totally see the appeal in being a man. if sex changes were press a button and poof, perfectly changed, i'd probably try it out, but lol no way would i risk it otherwise. i'm just a butch girl and that's fine with me.

[–]Raavan 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

True that. Men have basically 0 biological problems.

[–]Dragonerne 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

True, men are naturally better than women but society treats men worse. Sucks.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The only downside to being a man is society doesn't give a rats ass about you; you're utterly expendable. If you're a White man you're also blamed by the Marxists for absolutely everything wrong in the world, and have to be good enough to get jobs / college admissions / etc in spite of many quotas designed to make it harder for you to succeed. If you fail, people will kick you while you're down - no programs to help you and even government benefits that are open to all are much more difficult to acquire.

I feel sorry for White men if they are ugly or stupid. They get all the additional challenges with none of the benefits.

I think this is why there so many hideously ugly low IQ White trannies. Anything to stop being the designated punching bag and become a "protected class". At least it culls the weak by making them sterile.

why he wants to be a girl?

it's easier than being a man, but he will never look like a girl, that is pure delusion

[–]liberty_primer 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

That depends. Passable trannies exist. I couldn’t tell Blaire White from a bio chick.

[–]PostmodernJukebox 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

i saw people saying blaire white didn't pass and that left me flabbergasted. some people will cling to their delusions lol. she looks more like a woman than I do.

[–]StBlops2cel_is_Lord 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

You could up close, without the fake-up and camera filters.

--S/he is an exception, very feminine, plus a Trump supporter, so, kinda based for a tranny. But most are hideous mental freaks, admit it.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I've never seen a tranny that's remotely passable. Including Blaire White. I loathe and detest the fake "female voice" all of them try to use too. Makes me want to kick those that still have nuts, in the nuts. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me, and sounds just as ridiculous as women trying to sound like they think a man does.

You must have a better sense of it than I do. It’s rare, but some trannies are hotter than bio women.

That’s not hard when a bunch of bio women are fat, but still.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You need to stop having what I refer to as "male tunnel vision". Don't look just at what your eyes are naturally drawn to as a male (eyes, lips, breasts). Look at the whole (bone structure, frame, etc). Beyond that the voice never passes, at all.

How could you think this passes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_miaQKuOqE <--- you don't even need your eyes open to call shenanigans. It sounds like what it is, a gay man imitating a woman's voice.

[–]liberty_primer 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

you need to stop having male tunnel vision

Fair enough. I guess in a practical sense it doesn’t matter to me. If someone looks, feels, and acts like a woman ... to me, she’s a woman. I don’t expect you to feel the same though.

[–]beermeem 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Just look for the Adam’s Apple. Some men have small ones. And some who’ve transitioned have hidden it well but it’s always there.

It’s like how years of watching Howard Stern has attuned me to being able guess fake breasts with 99.9% accuracy.
