"Fascism" has got to be the most abused word in the language. It's the political philosophy of Bentio Mussolini - basically that every single facet of society, from industry to entertainment, must work in concert toward the military goals of the country.

Censorship is not fascism. It's censorship.

That said, yeah, Democrat 30 years ago loved free speech, and today they hate it, and that's fucking weird.

It's also the main reason I was a Democrat 30 years ago and today I have cancelled my voter registration.

Did you use AI to pull off that time warp?

  • A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

  • A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.

  • Oppressive, dictatorial control.

Censorship is against the constitution, and is a tool of fascism.

OH a Democrat for 30 years? Hitting on a lot of talking point to claim you aren't voting in the next election aren't you farm boy?

Lol. Dig a little deeper. There are hundreds of different definitions when dictionaries try to explain what people might mean or not mean by the word.

But the formal definition of the word? Mussolini's theory of government.

OH a Democrat for 30 years? Hitting on a lot of talking point to claim you aren't voting in the next election aren't you farm boy?

Hmm. I guess I'd say I was a Democrat from '96 to '14. So that's... yeah, 28 years.

It's been a while, though. 2014 was such a weird fucking year. The Republicans ceased to be recognizable to me as Republicans, and the Democrats colletively lost their minds.

And, yeah, now I'm anti-Democrat simply because I'm anti-censorship. It's too important a principle to abandon.

I did the math, and I was a Democrat from 92 to 18, which is 26 years.

Recheck your own math. And then, make sure to vote.

Also, that's 18 years, not 28.

Huh. Yeah, I suppose it is. Oopsie doodle!

What happened to Republicans in 2014? Was that when Donald Trump came on the scene? He didn't sway the majority, only the elite representatives. The majority suddenly veered in a fascist direction in 2020, when they saw no other options to stop cities from being burned to the ground. And they still don't like Trump; only before they disliked him because he was too authoritarian, whereas now they dislike him for not being authoritarian enough.

What happened to Republicans in 2014 and 2015 was that Christianity basically collapsed as a political force.

During the Bush and Obama years, they put an absurd amount of energy into the gay marriage debate. And then when one state after another after another leglized it, and then the SCOTUS sealed the deal and made it legal nationwide, it just sort of ended Christopublicanism.

If you were around and arguing on the Internet in 2014, it felt so abrupt, so strange. Like my entire life on the Internet was secular Democrats fighting with Christian Republicans, and with the span of a year most Republicans were like "Yeah, Jesus isn't the point of politics."

Instead, the Democrats took a really hard left turn - this is when words like "cisgender" entered the language, when fourth-wave feminism began, when BLM and Antifa came into existence - and the Republicans responded by saying: "Jesus isn't the point of politics anymore. The point is obviously that these motherfuckers are wrong about everything and the meaning of politics is to drink their tears."

I don't remember that at all. Keep in mind, almost everyone I know is on the Republican side. Until June 2020 they were mostly moderate libertarians concerned with keeping religious and speech freedom intact, even if it might be "offensive" to some. Rarely did I ever come across a genuinely bigoted one; at most it was prudish religious women who have to be better than thou in every way, making some "eww" remarks about gays. At that time every serious problem came from the Democratic side, which was pretty much the same as it is now, maybe slightly less insane.

Then there was George Floyd. And some of the worst riots you could ever imagine, which were totally not staged by deep state agents. And the Republicans flipped like a switch. Suddenly, the Democrats were no longer threatening our freedom and making 1984 a reality; they're now apprently a bunch of "degenerate" anarchists, who threaten our glorious regime and social order. A huge hatred for anyone Democrats claim are oppressed was also sparked at that time, which includes above all anything LGBT-related, and even black people. And they're pretending like nothing ever happened, that this is how it's always been; and the Democrats of course have no problem playing along with what is basically free propaganda for them. Now, I get called a traitor simply for believing in what we have always believed in. I have little doubt that the whole George Floyd incident was used to make government the good guy for 99% of the population.

It's terrifying, seeing everyone I know suddenly think things like "women shouldn't vote", and anyone who disagrees is working for whoever is their biggest enemy at the moment. If I manage to get them to admit that this came out of nowhere, they'll make up some excuse for why it's a necessary evil; otherwise they'll claim we've always been this way and that I must have demons or something. Speaking of which, 99% of the Christians are no longer Christians, instead they see Christianity a useful tool for building a social order, and Jesus as an example of what NOT to do. Not all of them will admit that, but step into any of their spaces anymore and it's blatantly obvious. They're more aligned with paganism now, and nature religions and fertility cults. And everyone who doesn't follow along is going to Hell.

I don't even feel safe saying what I think anymore, something I always felt I could do before. It's also strange seeing some of them praise fascism and Hitler now, after years of demonstrating, and quite rightly, that the Democrats were the ones acting like that. Now the parties are just fighting over which of them gets to be Hitler and send the other one to the camps.

I think someone is finally winning. And they will declare that they are reorganizing the republic into the first world empire, and will hunt down all Christians, all libertarians, all dissidents, and all who pose a threat to their power. And they'll make all sorts of propaganda brainwashing people to believe the world is the ultimate good, and encouraging reincarnation, and declaring Jesus the worst being in all existence, second only to his Father. North Korea could rise in power, with its extreme persecution of Christians and dissidents and its totalitarian regime, which is making many people of the only two allowed ideologies cozy up to them. In any case the new empire will be a lot like them, only far more powerful.

Of course my tranny bullshit had to be figured out like a year after the shift, before which I doubt there would have been much problem opening up about, as long as I explained the difference between that and this weird new gender identity movement. Maybe a few remarks about me "sinning" somehow. But now, no way I'd have time to explain that before they all condemn me to Hell. I don't think anyone likes me anymore. Everyone else has sold their soul to some faction, making me their enemy. Because even neutrality is perceived as hostility now.

That's a really interesting perspective. I'm so fucking happy to be on saidit. This is literally the first time in months, maybe years, that I've seen a really interesting perspective.

I'm from a very different background from you. Almost everyone I know is a Democrat and/or a liberal. I only personally know one conservative and three or four moderates. So to me, 2020 and 2023 feel... kind of the same as each other, honestly. I can't see a sea change there. And I guess that's because I used to talk to conservatives and Republicans online almost every day, but after the the January 6 event they sort of vanished/were forced off the mainstream Internet and I can't get into their spaces because I can't adopt their writing styles or pass their loyalty tests. So I literally don't know what they're like anymore.

I really do feel like 2013 was the last time things felt sane. I really see it in the TV shows. Coming into 2014, BoJack Horseman and Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black were fun and smart. They existed to entertain. They were well-written. Within a few years, they were all grotesque parodies of themselves, falling over themselves to explain why their early seasons were Not Okay. And almost every word written by television/movie/game writers in the last ten years has been absolute fucking shit. It's like it's become a social crime to write something fun and smart.

Before 2014, I would have vociferously disagreed that Democrats were threatening our freedoms. They generally believed in free speech. They believed in definance, in punk rock attitudes, in living and letting live. And then within a few short years, they didn't believe in any of that stuff anymore and somehow acted like nothing changed. They're completely blind to what is absolutely, blatantly obvious to me.

2014-2016 were.. Tumblr. Sarkeesian. GamerGate. Elliot Rodger. Michael Brown. Obergefell. The Alt-Right. Caitlyn Jenner. And topping off the whole shit sundae: Donald Trump. And they just lost sight of everything they used to believe in. Within a few years, they went from freedom-loving Americans to paranoid authoritarians.

That's how I see it, anyway. And I think it's fascinating that you're seeing a similar sea change in the Right over the past three years - one that's totally invisible to me.

For what it's worth, I suspect I'd like you just fine. That and five bucks will get you a cup of coffee.

Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field until no place is left and you live alone in the land.

9I heard the LORD of Hosts declare: “Surely many houses will become desolate, great mansions left unoccupied.

They disregard the actions of the LORD and fail to see the work of His hands.

13Therefore My people will go into exile for their lack of understanding;

It has happened before and it will happen again.

[–]Hematomato 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about.

[–]DirewolfGhost 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Its from Isaiah (OT Bible book). It simultaneously describes the situation you find yourself in, the death (or emptying) of the internet, the way to write to pass in the circles you don't fit in as well as the exile of the right from the internet.

Hope that helps.

[–]VulptexVoluntaryist 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I can totally believe that the Democrats went through a similar shift in 2014. I was too young to engage in politics then, so I wouldn't remember it.

[–]DirewolfGhost 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

Because we are hardwired to look for threats above all so the screens feed it to us for engagement. The vast majority of trannies contracted the social contagion through screens and are addicted to victimhood (Cain and Abel's story). Why would they want to cozy up to potential child murderers (like that one in Tennessee a while back)?

Yes they care about fertility as both their god says make babies and the general culture is completely propagandized against reproducing (at least if you're European) and they've taken the counter-culture position.

[–]VulptexVoluntaryist 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

If I recall correctly their god said "make babies" to exactly two people: Adam and Noah, both of whom were already married, and one already had kids. As for the rest? "It is better not to marry."

[–]DirewolfGhost 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Now you're getting it. You can use it to say what you want. You know what you can't do on the left? Say what you want. Free speech is a Christian principle. Lose Christianity and lose your tongue.

That's obvious. What are you trying to say?

To be fair, they are also working towards the position where every facet of society is moving in lock step to their agenda.

There was another poll done about the garbage vaxx a few years ago. The majority of the left were in favor of mandates and government over reach.

Tarded lunatics.

Things from the poll that you might not infer from the headline:

  • Most democrats say speech should be legal under any circumstances
  • The differences between Democrats and Republicans is attributable in part to more Dems being women and young.

[–]Tom_Bombadil 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Things from the poll that you might not infer from the headline:

  • 47% of Dems say free speech should be legal 'only under certain circumstances.

  • 34% of Dems say Americans 'have too much freedom'

  • 75% of Dems say government has a responsibility to censor 'hateful' social media posts

  • Only 31% strongly agree with the statement, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.'

Unfortunately, there's an insanely active 3% working on the communist side.

They've infiltrated the govt at every level.

Communist regimes do censorship.

Liberal regimes do censorship.

The regime this poll was sampling was a Liberal regime. The censorship that has occurred under this Liberal, Democracy regime has been tolerant of the dissent of Communists, with whom it shares a prerogative to censor Fascist and National Socialist speech.

Let's underline that point clearly: At the height of the Cold War, when Communists were expressing their dissent through bombings, riots and assassinations, the elite Liberal institutions stood beside Communists on freedom of speech grounds. At no point were Fascist or National Socialist viewpoints permitted to be voiced. Communists and Liberals behave hand-in-glove with one another on the project of suppressing Nationalist speech and assembly. Throughout the Trump era, we've witnessed the Liberal regime of the US government use Communist street thugs to violently shut down speech and peaceable assembly of Fascist, National Socialist viewpoints. There exists in some states laws which protect civil rights on the basis of viewpoint. These laws were passed by Liberals to protect Communists. They are not applied to protecting the civil rights of Fascist or National Socialist viewpoint holders.

So it's quite audacious for liberals to pretend that censorship is Fascism, like blaming the dissident for getting blood on the toe of your boot.
