Correct. While it is true our racial understanding has evolved, it doesn't mean that's the standard we should hold up today. The part where he goes into how our previous understanding of whiteness is still supposed to matter today (16:30), however, is one I'm still not quite certain on.

While it is true our racial understanding has evolved, it doesn't mean that's the standard we should hold up today.

Race, as understood as being based on continental evolution (i.e Europe,Africa,Asia,Americas) is still the best metric we have today.

Even bringing up Colonialism basically confirms this. Diversity, as it was being forced through the Atlantic Slave Trade or European Settlers, never ended peacefully for any distinct group. The end result was always segregation or failed attempts at race mixing. Nobody was actually happy bringing all these races together, when they were already better off living in their original and seperate homelands.
