See my edit. How does a psyop explain rich entrepreneurs like Elon Musk & Jeff Bezos also spending their own money on making contact with another planet? Bezos in particular was rewarded $10 BILLION Dollars last week by the U.S government, despite the fact that you know? He's already the richest guy on Earth.

Yet they gave him the money anyway because he too joined the Space Race.

I think it's important to follow this topic because it's not everyday you see Billions in publicly funded tax dollars being handed out like candy. And if they are, wouldn't this raise suspicions that the U.S government is feeling pressure from someone to do it?

Edit: And then you have America's neighbor to the North, Canada, has also made recent announcements of going into Space. If every country keeps going down this path, doesn't this suggest there might actually be a global conspiracy in the works?

Musk's main purpose for Mars colonization is making money and pursuing his idea of a frontierist lolbertarian paradise

Technically, he could do that already on Earth.

Hell, there's a country in Africa called the Congo, which has trillions worth of minerals buried, yet the entire GDP is only $50 Billion.

Why wouldn't Musk and Bezos just buy that, instead of taking the huge risk of colonizing another planet, and having to pay for all the costs associated with transporting Astronauts/Goods back and forth?

Because colonizing the Congo for his anarcho-capitalist cowboy state would be "racist" and he'd probably get BTFO'd by the UN

It's interesting but mostly irrelevant for our purposes. If some kind of galactic federation / aliens exist, then we are at their mercy and have nothing to offer them. It could be possible (it's likely) any aliens are ahead of us technologically on geological timescales. We could not reach their level of development even in 1,000 years (assuming industrial society even lasted that long)

There are plenty of decent reasons to explore the solar system (mining asteroids, finding life, etc.) And maybe that's what these types are interested in - But $10B isn't really that much money and we aren't sending a starship to alpha centauri in anyone's lifetime. We are absolutely not competing with aliens in some kind of space war or even trading with them (we have nothing to offer them). Try and quell your space fantasy nerdgasms

No.

The award hasn't been made yet. It is a proposed amendment to a bill that has not yet passed. Obviously Bezos is using the stated intention of the bill, to "beef up resources for science and technology research", to help line his company's pockets. It's not at all uncommon for stuff like this to happen after a major contract is awarded.

Welfare.
