That doesn't surprise me. East Asians admire European features, and our civilization in general.

In the beginning he does mention black-asian mixing. I'm not sure if he asks it the same way for each person, but most are probably talking about white-asian mixing as you said.

I think there's a little confusion with some who are conflating bi-racialism with people in other cultures. One of the older ladies and the man in the sunglasses are definitely confusing the two.

I have a really hard time believing this is an honest sample of Japanese views as well. The Japanese even have trouble integrating diaspora Japanese from Brazil back into their society because they find them uncouth.

Hopefully Japan does not go the way of the West. That would be a tragedy.

A documentary from CNA about multiculturalism and multiracial families in Japan. Though foreigners have considerably increased recently from what I heard, it shows only a few cherry picked families and a nationalist politician, no statistics about their numbers or economic/educational situation were bought up.

    They're almost nonexistent in Japan.

Their responses are surprising though. Japan has more selective immigration of course, but they don't seem to see things like race-mixing being "genocide" like the alt-right does. Correct me if I'm wrong but race-mixing in general among you guys is accompanied by the assumption all whites will end up race-mixing with no purity left if people are given freedom to marry outside their race.

It's easy to be blase about something you've never experienced. Why do you need this explained to you?

If the Japanese experienced even 1/10th of the levels of Black/Arab immigration the West does there would literally be rioting in the streets. These people view bi-racialism as a novelty -- see how often they describe the people as pretty because they only SEE THEM ON TV -- because as of now it's not an existential threat for them like it is for us. Hence the different responses.

Find me the interview on the streets when Tokyo has the same demographics as London. You'll hear Japanese people saying things that would turn your hair white.

Seeing as they're mostly talking about hapas, not really. I prefer no race mixing, but if I really had to choose I would also prefer us mixing with East Asians.

Japan has more selective immigration of course, but they don't seem to see things like race-mixing being "genocide" like the alt-right does.

That's because you can't compare our situation with Japan, obviously.

Correct me if I'm wrong but race-mixing in general among you guys is accompanied by the assumption all whites will end up race-mixing with no purity left if people are given freedom to marry outside their race.

No, because the vast majority of whites prefer their own race. The problem is the combination of low birth rates and replacement immigration. If we didn't have that problem the small amount of race mixing there is wouldn't bother most of us.

The boomers are just out of touch on how biracial Japanese and Japanese diaspora are treated in society. Biracial kids are often the targets of bullying in school. Miss Japan, Ariana Miyamoto has such a chip on her shoulder as a biracial person that she calls for the genocide of all Japanese people. If being biracial in Japan was just fine, why would someone call for the genocide of the people of their country of origin?

edit: Ariana Miyamoto, not Naomi Osaka.

Do you have a source for her calling for genocide?

Wrong person, it was Miss Japan, Ariana Miyamoto.

"I want to start a revolution," Miyamoto added with a laugh. "I can't change things overnight but in 100-200 years there will be very few pure Japanese left, so we have to start changing the way we think."

What's astonishing is that she doesn't even try to hide her intentions, she wants japanese people to disappear, basically a genocide and she laughs about it like it's something innocent. What was the reaction in japan after the comments? And how in the hell did she win miss japan?

    [–]asterias 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I remember the incident and clearly she wasn't representative of Japanese beauty and the criteria was purely political. I think those who pushed for her weren't even Japanese themselves. The same thing happened in Skandinavian countries, where the title was given to some monstrous being instead of one of the very beautiful native contestants.

You see the same trend in modeling as well, if you watch tv shows like Next Top Model you immediately notice how they try to push the idea of "black beauty" to a non-black audience that never asked for that.

As for the hatred shown by "Miss Japan", generally those who come from a half-African family show such hatred but at the same time don't think about going back to their country in Africa.

So as usual I imagine that fellow whites are involved in this, I remember some time ago that a black woman won miss Helsinki in Finland and it was hilariously tragic. Do you know how was the reaction in japan about her comments?

in 100-200 years there will be very few pure Japanese left

    That is not an inevitability.

Reminds me of this article. Funny how the NYT doesn't consider Ms. Osaka as redefining what it means to be black.
