The honest truth is that I didn't come to my views by propaganda. I came to them reluctantly over a period of years, often from reading articles in the mainstream media, like this one in the New York Times. Researching what I read, and thinking critically about it, after seeing these enormous disparities between blacks and non-blacks that didn't go away no matter how much you "normalized" the data or "corrected for" any number of economic and social factors.

Like:

"Black men raised in the top 1 percent — by millionaires — were as likely to be incarcerated as white men raised in households earning about $36,000."

Breathtaking. Or this one:

"Most white boys raised in wealthy families will stay rich or upper middle class as adults, but black boys raised in similarly rich households will not."

Or this one:

"Gaps persisted even when black and white boys grew up in families with the same income, similar family structures, similar education levels and even similar levels of accumulated wealth."

All in one mainstream article. The NYTimes attempts to pin these results on "the punishing reach of racism on black boys", but how "racism" magically turns the innocent son of a millionaire into an incarcerated criminal is never explained. Because it can't be. I suspect there are a lot more people like me out there, people who were racial egalitarians until they found themselves backed into a corner by the actual data.
