Of course they are going to replace workers with machines and keep a numbered and monitored slave class. They don't even need people to buy their #$%! in the new economic system they are erecting.

So many people who've been really happy to work from home recently are going to have their jobs replaced first by guys in India and then by computer programmes over the next few years.

For the most part they simply think they have time, and otherwise just don't know what to do about the problem.

They think they are still valuable because they aren't replaceable today. That the day of the robot is off in the distance just far enough that they don't have to worry about it. And that when the time comes it will come for others first and that will give them time to react.

As long as they have a job to go to they can't be convinced they aren't important.

Was watching a video (Cannot find it any more) that was about how stupid people are more dangerous than evil people. The reason is that stupid people do things that don't even benefit themselves. So, while evil people will destroy some wealth for their own benefit, they will not destroy all wealth that they touch. You can also reason with evil people, but there's no reasoning with stupid people.
