A Royal Navy engineer has denied sexually assaulting a male colleague and told a court martial he could not have done it because he is 'demisexual'.

Able Seaman Triss Smythe is accused of 'grinding' against the bottom of the alleged victim and kissing his neck, making him feel 'violated and humiliated'.

However, AB Smythe told the hearing he was innocent, as being demisexual means he needs to form a strong emotional bond with anyone before he could even begin to think about sexual contact.

He claimed he struggled to even kiss his female fiancée passionately at first, 'let alone a colleague'.

The 23-year-old insisted the way he wrapped his arms around his fellow sailor and kissed him in an aircraft hanger was purely 'platonic'.

AB Smythe, who was known to use the phrase 'I'm here and I'm queer' around the workplace, denies one count of sexual assault of non-consensual touching and claims the kiss was simply a 'peck'.

I'm a demi-murderer. I only kill people I have an emotional connection with. Your honor I swear when I slit his throat and extracted his entrails it wasn't with murderous intent!

Doesn't fucking matter good God? Next you gonna claim your didn't feel like totally psyched and shit when you were fucking some girl so it wasn't true love so wasn't rape or some shit? Good God your honor I'm innocent? Like I totally didn't want to kill him it's just like killing anyone else there was nothing special about it!

Apparently supposedly straight but surprisingly handsy guys waltzing into the office screeching "I'm here and I'm queer" every fucking day is a lot less common in Palestine.

He claimed he struggled to even kiss his female fiancée passionately at first, 'let alone a colleague'.

There might be another reason for that.

Sounds like a new sitcom for Netflix. "Non-binary demisexual who struggles to kiss his wife is the new Closeted homosexual."

Don't forget how the rest of the article goes into how most would claim, in their view, there was a "strong enough emotional bond" to officially claim "no, you did plan this" even if the courts swallow that tripe.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Emotional bond is bullshit.

You stick your penis into her vagina against her will. Doesn't fucking matter if you want it. Doesn't fucking matter if you like it. It's rape either way because it doesn't matter what you think.

Good. God. You kiss and grind against someone against their will it's sexual assault. I means sure I think that should be resolved by just punching the guy in the face but his feelings don't fucking matter do they?

[–]LyingSpirit472 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, of course you're right. However, it's easier to tell the court (that'd swallow any "weird sexuality is super-oppressed softboi uwu" and accept it) that this is the truth when they say "no no, I'm demisexual" and the whole article talks about how close the emotional bond was between them before this happened as "yeah, no, you still assaulted them. Go directly to jail."

I only platonically sexually assaulted him!

Good luck with that buddy

The only Demisexuals I know of are Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.

  • "They" pronoun
  • Sailor

I mean, you don't even need the grinding and kissing to figure out this guy's gay.

Where are you picking up the pronoun stuff, the article called him “he” quite a bit.

What’s the Churchill quote about the navy again? Rum, Buggery and the Lash?

I mean, the headline along with the very first line of the article, amongst others...

A Royal Navy engineer has denied sexually assaulting a male colleague and told a court martial they could not have done it because they are 'demisexual'.

Also, the part in the article where it says:

AB Smythe, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

AB Smythe, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns

I’m a fucking genius! How’d I completely miss that! Lmao!

If it please the court, I retract my retardation.

The article called him "they" a lot, too, although it's pretty clear that either the author was doing it mockingly or just had a really hard time trying to write the article using the "correct" pronouns, since Smythe is labeled "he" in some places and there is an instance of "they was" thrown in there lol

Whoa okay thats gonna be a huge yikes from me Buckaroodle. If this brave individual is so stunningly open about their queerness how can they possibly do wrong?. Queer people are the most innocent and harmless people on the planet its literal science. By trying to use your bigotry and hate to ruin this strong and empowered beings life in court you are literally committing genocide on queer ideology and activley murdering members of the TQBIIIMAPS community (Trans, queer, bi, interracial, intersex,Inbred, minor attracted person, Spirit animal community) these are the true face of the disadvantaged. The ones who have been fighting for thousands of years in order to obtain equity and prosperity. So if a queer individual who is demisexual starts grinding against you and kissing your neck while you're minding your business and then claims they didn't then the fact is they didn't do it. No matter how much witness or video evidence you have. And don't you dare try and tell them to stop because that's could cause them emotional trauma. You just need to let it happen. you cissies have been oppressing us for long enough and its our time to be on top.

What about the future for demisexual babies? Don’t you have any thoughts about them?

[–]Adventurous_Ad6212 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Clearly we need to secure the existence of the queer race and a future for demisexual babies.

Wow, what a brilliant defense! "I identify as someone who's incapable of sexual assault." Case dismissed!

I would sentence this guy to a long prison term for the crime of being insufferable.

If only the Catholic Church had realized that this was a viable strategy. "Your Honor, all Catholic priests take a vow of celibacy, so clearly they couldn't have raped these thousands of children."

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I find you guilty as charged!

"Your honor I object! I identify as an innocent person! How dare you mis-sentence me!"

Reminder that the term "demisexual" originated as literally a joke on a roleplay forum. https://social-justice-bullshit.tumblr.com/page/10

I'm mean... it sounds silly, but ultimately what he's saying is "I didn't do it, I wouldn't even be tempted to". "I didn't do it" is a perfectly valid legal defense. The most common defense of all. I'm not sure claiming to have a "sexuality" that makes him uninterested in sexual assault adds much to this, but still, it remains the prosecution's duty to prove he did in fact do it.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I did it but like, it wasn't actually rape because the sex sucked. He wasn't into it at all and kept screaming for help. It was a real mood killer. If anything he should be the one on trial because of how he ruined my night!

[–]IMissPorn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't see how that's gonna help you.

What is it with Brits and stupid, nonsensical defenses to crimes?

"Oh, I couldn't grab his junk! I don't know him well enough to have done it!"

"Oh, I couldn't have had sex with her! I forgot how to sweat back in the 80's!"

Seriously, it's like they're trying to outdo each other
