Well now you're no longer talking in generalities, and more specifically domestic violence. But sure, let's ponder why is DV higher for women? Is it really because they're generally more violent than men? If so why are women so underrepresented vs men across most other violent crimes? Would the way western men and women are raised have anything to do with it? E.g. "Never hurt a woman", vs "You can hit a man and he probably won't hit back"? That might have something to do with it, among I'm sure many other factors.

But in general, I'm standing my ground here. Men are generally more violent. But I'm not saying that's necessarily always a bad thing. And if you read up on evolutionary psychology (which can be a taboo subject these days I realize) then you may begin to see why men and women tend to have such different temperaments and propensities toward violence and aggression. At the end of the day, the differences we observe are just the side-effects of how natural selection wired us up over millions of years.

I remember. Suddenly and out of the blue there were new "contributors" to Github projects everywhere who weren't actually coders. They'd like make a spelling correction in a readme file and declare themselves part of the project. They'd create issue tickets and threads fighting over the inclusivity or whatever of a project's contributors and fought to establish those "codes of conduct" which basically amounted to "if you do or say anything we find offensive then you're out". When I was in 5th grade for the span of about 4 months I got beat up by a few 8th graders almost every day on my walk home from school, simply because I made a dumb mom joke at their expense once. Yeah it sucked but I didn't spiral into a hellish psychological abyss. I didn't join any cults or buy any guns. And like a little bitch I tattle-told on them to my dad. And instead of calling the school or calling the kids' parents, he taught me to man up a little, gave me some lessons in self-defense and avoidance tactics and tricks. They helped a little but eventually the kids got bored anyway and it stopped happening.

Anecdotal, I know. But back then bullying was just a fact of life for some kids and despite that, there wasn't an epidemic of Columbines or kids cutting themselves or jumping onto train tracks. So maybe... just maybe... the insane amounts of hand-holding and coddling and adult intervention kids started getting at the turn of the millennium wasn't the best idea. Just a thought.

Now did I deserve a 4 month ass-kicking for one stupid mom joke? Absolutely not. But I think the experience ultimately made me a little more resilient.

Talking to coworkers about the eclipse yesterday I gradually realized that the people there (upper middle class office employees who should know this stuff) lack even a basic understanding of astronomy. Initially this reads like one of those tranny fantasies they're always telling everyone to make themselves feel more validated or whatever. I've made plenty of points you've perhaps just missed them. Anyway, "worst side-effect" is subjective. It depends on how important you think sex is. To some people it's just a recreational activity but to others it's the end-all be-all to a fulfilling life. If you're in the latter camp and you have PSSD then sucks to be you.

Chemical imbalance, lie or not, just means low availability of serotonin/neurotransmitters. And the function of SSRIs is to correct that by making more serotonin available to the brain. In many cases it works and turns once dysfunctional people into functional people. And in many other cases it can do the opposite. PSSD is the least of it really. The list of things that can go wrong is lone and insane and it's all documented.

Taking SSRIs is a huge risk that should only be reserved for cases where therapy and other treatment options have failed. And that's my point. It's up to you, the individual, to thoroughly research any medication you are going to be ingesting so you can fully understand the risks and make an informed decision. Doctors are supposed to explain that shit to you but odds are they won't. At the end of the day, your health is your responsibility, nobody else's.

Sexual side-effects have been on SSRI warning labels for decades. They should've done their research. Those big pamphlets you get in your script bag aren't there for no reason. Also SSRIs are for people with chemical brain imbalances whose anxiety/depression are so bad they cannot function. They generally are willing to accept side-effects if it means they can actually live life.

But something tells me these people had, at worst, a boohoo case of the Mondays so they went shopping for a doctor thinking they could take a magical happy pill to turn their frowns upside-down. I'm guessing with little resistance, because SSRIs are over-prescribed just like everything else these days. Oh well next time read the fucking labels and do a little research.
