I think that most don't want to leave Reddit. That is why websites like Youtube, Twitter and Reddit of course can freely ban and censor people - the majority of userbase will stay loyal whatever happens. The websites are just too convenient. Although I wouldn't call this place ''dead'' - we still have more discussions a day than most lesbian subs on Reddit.

Not only that, it is the fact that most friends of them and other places of interest are still on those sites who censoring them personally. So there just nowhere to go in most people eyes, and going to the underground is not considered as an option.

I created reddit account maybe week or two before the ban, tho, so it was easy for me to leave. And I created is so much late because subs I've checked were all anti-women, was that /r/Lesbians or /r/AskWomen, they were very weird or hostile. So I thought women are not welcome on Reddit. And once I've found TL and GC, they were banned, just making my previous impression corret. And other stuff I could be interested I could check from reddit without account anyways.

¯_(ツ)_/¯ reddit is boring as hell now to me without truelesbians. i haven't gotten any "karma points" or whatever they call it over there since TL was banned. i occasionally look at reddit's political comedy site, but otherwise, boring as hell. as for this saidit group, the numbers are small but the quality is good. these are hard core no bullshit lesbians here and i like that. the formatting here does remind me of some type of early computer programming layout, but i'm getting used to it. i don't like that there aren't any real emojis (how do i make a shrug emoji here?). if we grow this user base, let's not have those fakers and haters in here.

I tried browsing r/pics and r/funny and some of the animal-related subs on Reddit recently when I was extra bored, and it did not help whatsoever. It was just so bland, no matter where I was. I ended up having a better time going through my recipe collection, which is not that exciting right now, because I don't really have an oven I can use in a big way (I rent a room for now).

You can change the color theme in your preferences. The darker theme is much more usable to me

I was actually skeptical of the 15,000 sub count. Once it got over 5000, I no longer believed it was homosexual women subscribed. Although I was not subbed but just browsed, in my opinion, that number was just way too high for it to only be homosexual women. Same with this place. Once it goes past 5000, I'm gonna become skeptical.

I like that people leave us alone here. I also like there's no trans talk here. Before Reddit told subs to not bash trans, TL constantly had post about what transbians were saying, etc. I don't care about trans people; I don't care what they're saying nor doing in regards to a community I'm not apart of (lgbt+). So once Reddit banned TL from trans bashing, the sub got a lot better. There was more discussion, more quality post about female homosexuality. Then two weeks later Reddit banned it.

I do not think this sub is dead. It will take time for it to grow as all things. The post here have more quality discussion. The post here are honest and up front because we're not walking on egg shells. I like it so far.

Why exactly 5000?

[–]SailorMoon2020 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Ha, not sure. I suppose a more realistic number would be 0.5% of this entire websites population. So if this site has 3 million then if 1% is homosexual, divide that 50%, realistically 150,000 would be the amount of homosexual female within this sub.

I can’t speak for others, but when the ban hit, I had that “Oh shit moment,” because even though there had been a post at some point about this place... I procrastinated on so much as even looking it up. So I had to really dig just to find saidit and even more to find y’all specifically.

I’m glad I did, but I do admit the scarcity of content in comparison to what we had makes me sad. :/ I used to be a 100% lurker on reddit but have since come out of my shell to contribute at least a little here and have seen similar said of others so... perhaps there’s a silver-lining?

Thank you! I hope this place continues to draw people to feel safe enough to finally speak.

I think most TL users don't know about it. The old subreddit disappeared pretty quickly so unless you were really paying attention over that short space of time you wouldn't have found out about this forum. I'm guessing that everything to do with the TL subreddit disappeared so the old mods wouldn't have a way to message all of the TL users and tell them about this site? I suppose the only way to grow it is to publicise it elsewhere - although that also runs the risk of it coming to the attention of the TRAs/queerios and being targeted.

This place feels very busy to me, especially for a month old sub on a reddit clone.

[–]Innisfree 11 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

How dare you :) No, but seriously the mods worked hard to grow and keep TL, then they worked hard to organize and promote this place. And there are great people on here. These spaces don't just spring up like mushrooms after the rain, they take investment from good people and contribution from us to exist.

I guess the only way we can really grow is 1. Post good content more often 2. Tell other lesbians you know about this place And maybe 3. Go to another site that might be more attractive than this one

I joined Spinster at the same time I joined this group. Spinster is kind of like Twitter, and it's more political than social, so it isn't a competitor per se. I posted about this group on Spinster a few weeks ago, but maybe I should keep spreading the word.

I really hope it’s not dead, I’ve only just found you guys again. When TL went private I messaged and was given access straight away and then the ban hit and had totally forgotten that SaidIt was being set up. I’ve just been floating around Reddit lost and lonely haha!

[–]TheHighPriestess 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Same, literally just found this place today. I'd been absent from Reddit for like two months, came back and the sub was gone. So happy there's at least something to replace it.
