My work has a special slack channel for women and there's a whole discussion about being more inclusive toward non-binary employees. Why does this fall on the women's slack group? Non-binary people are not women, according to them. Why does the group for women have to provide this inclusivity but not a group for men?

Sam Bee has had multiple children, while working too if I recall correctly. I'm guessing it's partially to do with her ultrawoke staff at Full Frontal, and her desire to be on the right side of history without critically examining what she's saying. Perfect example of a woman who has reaped the benefits of feminism and has even fought her own battles but is hurting the next generation of women.

Good to know! She's not trans. We also have some differing political views that are not deal breakers in my mind but could be in hers. I don't like how everyone is becoming increasingly isolated and unable to listen to any views outside of their own. So I'd rather this not be a dealbreaker.

I don't know if she'll be the agree-to-disagree type or not. But I do know her politics from a brief conversation with her and she's definitely the TRA type. I'd hate for politics to get in the way of interpersonal relationships, I'm a person who truly believes in getting along with people I disagree with. But I'm worried she won't be able to get along with me, and/or that she'll drive me crazy and I'll be dodging and weaving every conversation for the next year

Same for me. It scared me a little, how much I was able to deny something so basic. I even had myself convinced I was "straighter" than most girls because I couldn't form attachments to the men I tried to date. I could never watch movies with lesbians/female nudity in it and also attributed it to my excessive straightness. I even got mad at what I saw as lesbians constantly being in movies and TV (lol).

All it took for this to break down was some exposure to lesbians that I couldn't ignore (a coworker). That broke the dam and it was actually pretty painful after that. The intimacy I've been craving and searching for, I could have had years ago.

Yeah there's nothing in anyone's DNA that makes them less or more able to write code. The modern world is so far divorced from whatever conclusions people try to draw from evopsych bullshit. In fact, when female owned companies get beyond the initial funding hurtle, they often do quite well.

Also, someone here pointed out the irony that for all of TiM's talk of having lady-brain, they seem to congregate in fields that stereotypical "lady brains" wouldn't. Exaggerated brain sex ideology is a cover for misogynists, no matter what side it's coming from.

It's so funny. This shit has basically made being gay into a "lifestyle" instead of a sexuality, which is exactly what my homophobic mother has always described homosexuality as. Anyone over 25 or so can remember how the "gay lifestyle" was a dogwhistle. And now gay as a "lifestyle" is not only encouraged, but codified as such by the left.

If I'm not mistaken, she mentioned that covid lockdown felt like "jail". Now if people want to interpret that in the least charitable way possible and think that she actually meant staying in her home was as bad as being in jail, then I have a hard time taking them seriously. There's something to be said for good faith interpretation. I really don't think that Ellen thinks her house is as bad as jail, and if I did I'd also have to cancel just about everyone who jokes that something "makes them want to die" any other common hyperbolic turn of phrase.

I don't know where I stand on the Ellen issue yet, but a good illustration of your point is this Washington Post article about the situation.

It didn't get to anything even potentially cancel-worthy until the very end, and instead presents a series of tweets from other people (and a YOUTUBE COMMENT) as supporting evidence. What the fuck is happening to journalism.

If she's really an abusive boss and then okay, but a photo with a republican, a conversation with someone who made homophobic remarks, and some joke about a birthday party (?) should not justify the cancelling of a gay icon. We already have enough of a communication problem in the modern world. It's not like Ellen doesn't know the hurt and pain of homophobia.
