If they had just removed all the gender stuff from the bill, I'd be all for it. Instead, LGB are unwittingly being held hostage as a societal battering ram to push trans ideology through. This is a tactic, one that has been employed before, and reminds me of actions by very, very unsavory people in decades past. The conflation of sex and gender identity in the legislation wasn't an oversight or an accident. It was deliberate.

This legislation isn't going to help trans people, it's going to stir up a giant backlash against them, and thus us. If you speak out against trans, then you've clearly got a problem with lesbians, gays, and bisexuals because they're all in the same initialism together.

Social movements have taken on a new flavor these days. It's not about a little bit of progress at a time, it's about grabbing everything you want right away. Anyone who opposes you is a bigot.

You don't get consensus and progress by stuffing things down people's throats. You don't get it by blocking people on Twitter, or other screaming-matches. Talking-up your supporters is advertisement. Talking to your opponents is activism. You get progress by understanding. Understanding only happens via healthy conversations, and you've got to be truthful and authentic... that little house of cards they're building?

Progress does not happen by shoving legislation through without any input.

That is their horrid BS tactic. It is more important than ever to Drop the T. The Fetish Validation Act strips women of their civil rights.

What are we going to do about this?

Contact your senators, tell them to vote against it, and why.

Also, maybe contact any senators who are known to be LGB, even if they don't represent your state, and inform them of what this means for us. Possibly do the same with women senators?

But I'm just so demoralized. Even though this is hardly a surprise, of course, it's still... like yet another blow. And they just keep coming. Because these people NEVER seem to lose, do they? Regardless of how obviously wrong they are, or how vile their tactics... it just doesn't matter. Nothing ever stops the trans juggernaut.

I feel like we have to organize against this entire genderist movement; that's the only thing that stands a chance. But how?

Contact Senator Tammy I'm a lesbian but don't give a fuck about LGB Baldwin.

Tammy Baldwin is the biggest fucking hypocrite in Congress, no mean feat.

I have explicitly talked to Tammy Baldwin's office about the dangers to children of puberty blockers and cross sex hormones.

I've told Baldwin's office that most of the kids being transitioned are gay, so in effect, gender identity conversion bans were spaying away a generation of gay kids.

I've told Baldwin's office that young lesbians are being pressured into sex with transbians.

I've walked Tammy Baldwin's staffers through how the Equality Act will erase women and GAY MEN as a distinct and coherent legal category and throw our sex-based rights, and the laws protecting us ON THE BASIS OF SEX, into limbo.

I've given Tammy Baldwin's office statistics on sexual assault - according to the CDC, almost 20% of US women have been raped and almost 44% sexually assaulted.

I've given Baldwin's office specific studies that prove that even after suppressing their testosterone, transgender athletes are still going to beat women.

What did Baldwin do in response?

Tammy Baldwin introduced the Equality Act into the Senate this time, along with Cory Booker and Jeff Merkley. Contact those pricks too - both claiming to be passing this vile piece of legislation for the benefit of lgbT

So, please every American on this sub contact Tammy Baldwin, Cory Booker and Jeff Merkley and say, "I'm L, G or B and the Equality Act erases my rights."

If Tammy Baldwin (the only gay on that list) doesn't listen, you yourself can then call her out to all and sundry. You can tell your fellow Americans that while Tammy Baldwin pretends to be an lgbT representative, she is actually someone who just does not give a fuck about LGB and is most probably pocketing huge amounts of money from those nefarious characters behind gender ideology, who want to SPAY AWAY THE GAY.

Good advice. Also wanted to add that we should contact Biden as well, since, if the senate passes the "Inequality Act", he'll still need to sign it. Tell him not to! And to withdraw his associated Executive Order while he's at it! (Does anyone know what the correct term is for the latter action, by the way? Abandoning, discontinuing, rescinding, revoking, retracting, etc.?)

There used to be a White House Comment (phone) Line, that you could leave a comment for the president, but I don't know if there is still one.

I'm guessing rescinding.

I openly admit to being a 'TERF' ( despite the fact that, as an egalitarian, I would never call myself a feminist ), and a proud transphobe...and then I watch the confusion sow among my friends and co-workers that know I'm not straight. Slowly but surely they will come with questions...and I will have answers.

"She had answers." we can make that a tshirt lol

I honestly think it's going to take L, G and B speaking out to stop this.

Because the T are so effectively using LGB as sword and shield, that the vast majority of even politicians supporting the Equality Act have no idea that it erases homo/bi sexuals and destroys the sex-based rights of LGBs.

221 Democrats voted for 206 Republicans voted against

The three Republicans, down from 8 Republicans in 2019, who voted YES on the Equality Act are:

Fitzpatrick - PA Katko - NY Reed - NY

Go get 'em (by which I only mean please politely voice your disapproval of their vote to their offices ;-)

Susan Collins, Republican Senator of Maine, and only Republican co-sponsor of the Equality Act in the Senate, has withdrawn her sponsorship. Let's hope that means the GOP will fight it in the Senate.

Unfamiliar with US politics. What happens next?

[–]Alma_Esmeraude 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

The bill goes to the Senate, where it will likely not be passed because the GOP is guaranteed to vote against it. Don't want to knock on wood though, because there's enough Big Money behind TQ+ that there may be surprises.

[–]BEB[S] 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Please do not count on the GOP to knock down the Equality Act! I read that the gender lobby/Democrats are now bringing in their corporate ties to strong arm GOP senators.

So PLEASE Americans, call your Senators no matter if they're Democrats or Republicans and say NO to the Equality Act, NO to erasing away the gay!

Boycott these corporate donors.

HRC has a list of corporations and organizations supporting the Equality Act. There are some surprises on there.

Let me find the list and post it as a stand alone.

EDITED TO ADD: I haven't found the full list yet, and can't access this article myself, but this might have some information on corporate sponsors of the Equality Act in 2019.

They only need a majority, right? The Woke have a majority, don't they?

[–]Alma_Esmeraude 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That depends on whether or not the GOP chooses to filibuster. If the Republicans don't choose to filibuster, then yes there'd only be a simple majority to pass. (Harris would inevitably vote yes to break the tie.) However, there's a couple of conservative democrats in conservative-heavy districts that might not want to risk voting yes for it and would break ranks from the party. Wokes definitely have the majority in the House, not so sure about the Senate.

Thanks for the info and please let a few brave souls stand up to this (or scared of losing their election-- maybe not brave, maybe cowards!) or better yet, the Senate should let the bill die on the vine.

[–]julesburm1891 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It goes to the Senate and hopefully Republicans filibuster it.

I hate the Democratic Party as much as the GOP now. Good job fuck faces. /screams Call your Senators. Make some noise.

[–]BEB[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's important to call Republican Senators, because the fate of the Equality Act (and us) is in their hands.

Also call the Equality Act Democratic senate sponsors, especially Tammy Baldwin, because she's a lesbian who is claiming that she is representing lgbTQ+++, and that the Equality Act will benefit LGB rights, when it will do the opposite.

The other main drivers of the Equality Act in the Senate are those toad stools, Jeff Merkley and Cory Booker, so please call them too.

And - hell - call every single Senator if you have time. Please make sure to tell them that you are LGB. If you are NOT a conservative, please mention that too, because the gender lobby is claiming that all opposition is coming from the Right.
