It gives me hope. Despite some users claiming all the upvotes are from conservatives, /r/news is a liberal leaning sub, all day every day (and inevitably filled with men). Any censoring or smears pinning them all as "TERFS and Nazis" are bound to be met with raised brows and confusion. Many of them probably have no idea that biological reality has been relabeled as "transphobic".

I hate that this is happening (as a California woman it makes me sick to my stomach, actually), but I hope this finally peaks people. It does seem like from the comments the average person is appalled with this, especially when they realize it's self-id based.

If you feel comfortable, please call/email Newsom's office as well as your senators, both state and federal, and assemblymember, and US Congressional representative and complain.

Sadly, California's whacky ideas often spread to the rest of the world, so California residents are perhaps the only people who can nip the insanity in the bud. Thanks!

Prediction:

1) Male criminals (particularly sex criminals) who are not trans falsely declare themselves to be trans in order to be housed in female prisons.

2) Sex crimes against female prisoners skyrocket.

3) LGBTQ+ activists declare it "transphobic" to point this out, and at some point, statistics on prison rape in women's prisons stop being collected. A lawsuit involving the Department of Justice (which currently collects data on prison rape) is required to get data back.

4) The rise in trans inmates leads LGBTQ+ activists to declare California to be "systemically transphobic" because 'trans' people are imprisoned at higher rates than base population rates.

I read as much as I could but, even though there were some sane comments, it seemed to me that many of the posters were ever so concerned about poor transwomen and not the rights of the women who were going to be forced to accept men into enclosed spaces from which they couldn't escape.

Reddit, home of Woke Beards. My only hope is that sitting so long in front of their computers typing out their casual misogyny deforms their balls and makes them sterile. (OK, biology class was a long time ago so take that as the attempted joke it is)

It's possible, those things are supposed to be cooler than body temp and sitting in a gamer chair for twenty hours a day would warm them up and possibly knock out their sperm count. Here's hoping.

Any comments which goes "but we all know transwomen can't be housed in men's prisons" makes my eyes bleed. Men still really believe they are completely irresistible to any other man who might be gay or even now to straight men if they put on a dress and makeup. No.

No no no.

Men don't just suddenly want to rape another man because they wear lipstick or even if they have fake boobs. This doesn't happen. If it did it would be happening outside of prison too while in fact transwomen hardly ever get raped. Rather the crime stats indicate men are actively avoiding them.

Not even put on a dress, just say they feel girly. Exactly how does this expose them to a higher risk of assault?
