It gives me hope. Despite some users claiming all the upvotes are from conservatives, /r/news is a liberal leaning sub, all day every day (and inevitably filled with men). Any censoring or smears pinning them all as "TERFS and Nazis" are bound to be met with raised brows and confusion. Many of them probably have no idea that biological reality has been relabeled as "transphobic".

This is it. This was the future that had us all nauseated and furious after election 2016. I know the majority of us are pissed with the dems, but that sinking feeling in your gut is justified when we're looking at a conservative majority SC. Time to bare our teeth, make noise, talk to your senators, and VOTE.

Republicans don't actually give a shit about protecting women, if they did they wouldn't gut our healthcare options and autonomy. I hate how much people are turning a blind eye to the vile shit they've been doing the past 40 years just because Trump makes the Tims rage.

That being said, a broken clock and all of that.

It's not "might keep abortion rights", we WILL keep our right to body autonomy. Abortion is already incredibly difficult to access in some southern states, our rights are bleeding away now, not in some nebulous future where the SC is full of TRAs.

More of a monster than Trump? Fucking please. I did NOT want Harris as the VP pick, but then again I didn't want Biden. However, records do show that Harris has voted much more progressively than most people assume (I believe she voted around 93% in line with Bernie, for any other progressives here). And more importantly, neither Biden nor Harris will pack the SC with anti-choice shills. RBG is hanging on by a thread. We NEED a democrat as POTUS.

I think this nonsense has been going on as long as advertisements became a dominant force in the world. If you look up vintage advertisements, you'll see the majority tend to be made up of images of women. Even today, while women make up a larger percentage of the marketing workforce, men outnumber them in the CEO/senior roles. I highly doubt there are many dudes out there that feel the need to push a "men are attractive" narrative because they don't need to be attractive, they have all the power.

Anyway, just because things like "Playgirl" failed don't mean we aren't turned on by sight; there are a multitude of reasons women don't consume (visual) porn as much as men. I think things like the popularity of boy bands and books like 50 Shades (gag) prove that women love sex and sexy men, I don't know why people think that isn't true. Supernatural didn't go on for 10 millions seasons because the writing is fantastic, let's be real, everyone wanted to see pretty boys cry while taking showers or whatever.

Sometimes I have to wonder if all these "trans masc" young women are turning to gay men because they seem to offer a safer version of masculinity. I know that's not a groundbreaking thought, but I've definitely been laughed at by other women for not being attracted to "masculine enough" type men (she laughed because at the time I was a personal trainer and the guy I fancied was pretty small, so apparently I was only allowed to be into gym rats I guess). Just like men are shamed for not being macho enough, women can get shit from other women for not being turned on by aggression and hyper dominance. But hey, if you're a gay man, you're allowed to date gentle/social/artistic men!

Whoops, there's that toxic gender role thing again.

Absolutely. This is what happens when narcissism is rewarded by society as being "woke". Bringing "girlhood" into the whole vile mix takes it from selfish to downright degenerate imo. The obsession with being a young girl, one of the most vulnerable and exploited members of society, is repulsive.

Trans woman lesbian here. This relationship cannot be salvaged. The boundaries violation of jerking off in your underwear aside, it demonstrates a need to be close to and affirmed by you, as a fellow woman, in her female sexuality. That need is unlikely to go away – if you can't fill that need, then she will get it met somewhere else. We (meaning trans women who date women) are want to pine for a cis femme who will guide us through the blossoming girlhood we never had;

All you ladies remember masturbating with your underwear to deal with your female sexuality?

No?

But I digress. I hate that using statistics like this will only work people up into a frothy lather before screaming YOU ARE COMMITTING VIOLENCE AGAINST TRANSWOMEN RIGHT NOW, BIGOT! I fucking hate that being "right" is predicated on having the loudest voice instead of actually being factual.

When I was 16, being bisexual was our version of being trans, EVERYONE wanted to be bi. Needless to say, while being gay wasn't as accepted in the mainstream as it is now (this was before gay marriage was legalized in the U.S.), it was honestly so normal for people my age that no one bat an eye if you were dating someone of the same sex. I wouldn't call it a "golden period", but teens were coming out of the closet without fear (at my school at least) and no one had to deal with trying to navigate 10 million different "genders", so yeah, it was pretty nice.

Anyway, I'm honestly not sure if you'd even have to wait until you hit 25 for your friends to start coming around. It seems so many younger people are doing things to their bodies that they don't fully understand the consequences of; I'd imagine that as little as a few years from now, there's going to be a wave of people bemoaning their self-mutilation and blaming anyone and everyone but themselves. You're probably going to see multiple medical malpractice suits, and with the bottom line being money, there's going to be a big backlash everywhere from doctors to government to big pharma. People that were afraid to speak up will have more room to be critical, and then hopefully we can go back to the drawing board and figure something out that works for people genuinely suffering from body dysmorphia and women/LGB without being shouted over by a bunch of men gunning for our heads.

It's funny how often transmen are way more reasonable and understanding than their counterparts. Such a curious phenomenon....

Seriously though, Buck Angel seems like a pretty chill dude. I know transmen don't carry the same clout transwomen do (also another mystery), but hopefully more and more start speaking up like this. Of course they'll be branded as "self-hating", but people will be afraid to go after them as viciously as they do women.

Same background as a lot of you-initially a TRA just because I believe in bodily autonomy for everyone (still do, but not to the detriment of natal women). I mean, if someone genuinely believes they were born in the wrong body and were shamed by their genitals and wanted to change that to the best of their ability, why not help ease their pain?

And THEN I found out the shocking revelation that not only was dysmorphia no longer a thing in trans ideology, but that there was a group of people calling old school/original trans folks "truscum". Really? Scum for...believing in the literal definition of transsexual? Ok then. Of course then there was the sly move from transsexual to transgender, and I realized a lot of these transwomen pushed gender stereotypes to the nauseating extreme: "teehee, I love wearing summer dresses and putting on nail polish, I'm such a woman, aren't I?" Most of it was coming from dudes who were obsessed with anal sex/their dick, and I just could not reconcile the trans ideology I sympathized with to these weird guys that just wanted to show the world their dicks in the name of social justice.

Fuck. That.

Of course, the forcing women out of sports and positions of authority while policing our language is just icing on the shit cake. Oh, don't forget the rapey rhetoric, the transitioning of children, and the homophobia! We've worked long and hard for our rights, our spaces, and our dignity, and I'll be damned if a bunch of obese dudes with stringy hair and their handmaidens on Twitter take us back a century.
