It's all on cloudflare's side. They're almost the only game in town when it comes to keeping DDOS away, but if you take that bargain you just kinda gotta accept random annoyances like this, as well as the possibility of being canceled for wrongthink.

You're getting the "Confirming your connection is secure" thing?

Si

It's not so bad, except when you type out a long reply and get 403'ed because it timed out and you have to refresh the page to clear yourself as human again.

It doesn’t bother me. Just wondering.

There's also the fact RSS no longer works; which is sad because now the code is broken to a point of trash. How long has reddit had rss, now saidit doesn't even have that much?
The three things saidit had going for it were: threaded conversations,
ease of access,
and rss

I don’t know what rss is. I know it’s like a communication method that allows for manipulation so you can customize?

Is that correct?

[–]UbiquitousCultOfSelf 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Half correct. RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. Think of it as push notifications like on facebook when you get a new interaction. With a site like reddit or saidit it allows for people to know when and what posts get put up in a certaining /s/ forum, your inbox, etc.
It is just an XML document that the RSS news feeder (or service) requests from the site with all interactions presented basically like individual email msgs. The feed reader program can be customized to check every x minutes, half hour, hour, etc. To respond, you'd have to sign into the site, of course, but to be updated on topics, you just go to the feed reader.

Got it. It’s what makes Reddit nice. Notifications about what you are interested in.

RSS no longer works

Sure enough, you are right. I was wondering if RSS was affected by Cloudflare, and after reading your post, I checked, and it's broken.

The Halloweenies came out early. Trick or treat the web server with DDOS.

In a sane world anyone attacking a server would just become an outlaw, but if you attack the double plus ungood websites you seem to get a medal these days.

Saidit is currently being massively astroturfed, the security thing we keep getting is a result of all the activity on the site. The elections are getting closer so It's only natural...

Yea. You can see it happening. Appears Hillary Clinton or Gizlane Maxwell has taken a personal interest in all 50 of us.

it’s dumb. it’s not happening on like sites. this issue is specific to saidit and has become obnoxious enough that i’ll probably just migrate away from saidit and return in the case that it stops.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Dosent bother me.

[–]monkeymagic 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

it targets vpns. if you look at the timeline here it’s completely ineffective. it’s not doing anything to stop spam.

there’s a huge push rn to do away with vpns in general in mainstream media. saidit participating in said movement is a bummer. it should bother you.

“They” want YOU and I to have log in identification codes when we access the internet. They can’t do that with encryption and VPNs, and whatever else the intelligent computer people have.

No VPN is apart of “their” plan.

The site uses Cloudflare for DDoS protection, but Cloudflare was warned in March that their whole keypair system if flawed. They did not fix it, now the vulnerability is public.

People are now using Cloudflare to DDoS Cloudflare protected websites, like this one.

You know how the mafia extorts the people they "protect"? "Pay us, or something bad will happen to you...."

Protection racketeering.

Is anyone able to access the app anymore? Is there something I should be doing to get the app to work?

There’s an app?
