That's far too fatalistic, even for me. No, distinguishing colors--if the recent post on here is any example, I imagine the difference some people experienced with the green is due to individual settings of their graphics cards, monitors etc, but yes, people can have more or less rods and cones. Can this be attributed to "Too long in the Sun"? Or are people with limited sight born that way?

Then the question becomes, if they lack one sense, are other senses compensating? It's said that people who are born blind have keen sense of smell, or can hear really well, etc.
Funniness is a learned skill, imagination is like other traits, able to be fostered. "Smartness" is not really a measurable metric. IQ is still a hotly debated subject. So for the things you argue cannot be negotiated, I disagree. They most certainly can be negotiated.

I do learn from others. But 1) it's good to be able to pick things up myself, and 2) not everything can be taught or learned, as I stated above.
All too often I have to fight against both fate and nature to reach where I need to be. Those are very difficult battles to win, and sometimes actually impossible. And you'll undoubtedly come back scarred and exhausted.

Maybe, or you can have the philosophy, what does not kill you... makes you stronger or some junk.

But if you were to be mentored by own of these people with a personality so like your own, who you hold they are gifted beyond measure, would that benefit you?
Some people, while being 'gifted' lack the ability to understand at a systemic level. To those who think they struggle to gain mastery of a subject, the best CEO is not one who is handed the position, but rather one who has worked every position from the mail-room up.
If you desire to learn and master a subject, then endeavor to understand it on the most fundamental level and build up from there.
In a generation that doesn't seek to understand what went before, whether history or fundamental principles, you'll be that much ahead of the game if you buck that social trend.

It's not to say they haven't also adapted to the blow, the speed, the Maserati and the 2 or 3 17-20 year old groupies they've got side hustle with in addition to the trophy wife, but we're a lazy society of snow flakes.
If we were told the truth, you will always have this pain until the day you die. You can continue to just barely cope or you can become a junkie, burn bright, then die. Most would chose the later anyway.
