I’m not on this site much. Also, that’s not a fair comparison IMO. Neither Israel or Palestine have any actual intentions of doing anything other than eliminating each other. I’m talking about the US where people are working to help communities of color gain a positive image of themselves in popular media as this not been the case since the beginning of the modern film and television era. From ‘Birth of a Nation” all the way to “COPS” there have only been a handful of positive portrayals of black folks. It matters greatly to see people that look like you portrayed in a positive and aspirational light.

On the topic of culture. What exactly is wrong with advertising becoming more diverse and showing minorities in a positive light in media? Is it just”‘Brown people bad” or “Diversity bad”? Remember that historically minorities have not had many positive images of themselves in large media campaigns.

When I see a Tide commercial with a black guy at home folding laundry I don’t really see the negative there. Would you prefer he be doing it in the ghetto with a gun in his hand? What is wrong with a positive portrayal?

Are infectious disease wards of hospitals any different from this? This is a contingency for a humanitarian aid camp /area already in place, especially one with limited resources / personal. Should high risk residents of a humanitarian aid camp remain in an area with the general population when a disease that would most likely kill or severely hurt them is introduced into the area? Sure, an industry has been built on exploiting the black "street thug" culture. It's a ravenous beast churning out cultural decay and terrible role models at an astonishing rate.

I chose Carpenter and Washington specifically for their incredibly insightful works which IMO rise above the fray and present deeply complex critiques of this "suffering" culture. Both works cited are specifically cited fir that reason which is why they remain cultural touchstones to this day.

You could probably dig around and find some examples. If we are focusing on film, the majority of black writers / directors tend to want to portray the reality they have experienced and most of the time it was pretty fucked up. John Singleton comes to mind as an example. ('Boyz N the Hood' ' 'Hustle and Flow'). What is wrong with that? Great movies? Up for debate, but they certainly telling a story and certainly put a spotlight on certain elements of our culture.

On this note but swerving into the intellectual realm would be 'The Great Debaters' strarring Denzel himself. Mr. Washington is quite a based person if you read into him. He rejects the oppression culture fostered here in the US. This film reflects this, in that it tells these story of people achieving intellectual integrity despite any circumstances.

These are just two examples off the top. We can go on if you would like.

We can move beyond the cultural garbage bin of modern streaming TV (Netflix) and explore actual literature and art of you care to.

The typical far right 4chan post typically includes some jpeg of some juicy knockers even. For me, I agree the elements of European culture should be preserved and advanced as should all other cultures. This crass attitude debases and most often deters me from engaging, no matter who is making the point. I mean, the bikini lady is right to some degree, Christians and Jews just are not compatible. I don't have time for a full essay here but I would encourage you to take a deeper dive into the symbolism of the films mentioned.

In Peel's 'Get Out" we are actually seeing a critique of liberal society. Take Rose for example. A "feminist" and "white ally" who quickly folds when the protagonists dilemma strays from her small minded narrative.

Rose's family are the epitomy of clueless "Northern Liberals" who exasperate and most often perpetuate the problems of those they are trying to help. In this film they perpetuate these problems to a dramatic and murderous degree (it is a shock film at heart so license is taken as is the Hallmark of the genre).

This narrative is (IMO) an analog to the idiotic white Antifa protesters "helping" black folks by literally burning down their neighborhoods.

I have not viewed the other films. Honestly they look like trash production values so I kinda skipped over them for that reason.

Did this make any sense?
