I mean, he's wrong (at least IMO, insofar as gender is a social construction and I don't think any genders inherently exist), but is the right reaction to somebody's being incorrect really to publicly shame and dox them over the internet...?

I'm aghast. Two months of identifying as trans is enough to get surgery? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

I used to frequent the childfree sub on Reddit (still childfree, just don't participate in the community anymore) and there would quite regularly be posts (mostly by women) about how difficult it was to get their doctors to agree to sterilisation processes. Maybe if they just tried saying they felt non-binary instead!

I was about 13 when I started browsing Tumblr (I joined to view fandom content primarily, but it's basically impossible to avoid gender politics on there) and I remember seeing this and 'identifying' as a demigirl literally because I thought I 'wasn't like other girls'. Took me a while to realise how toxic that mentality was and see through the gender bs...

r/itsafetish anyone? Wife scared to leave her TIM husband over the fear of transphobia by RedditHatesLesbians in GenderCritical

What I find really disturbing about this thread is all the responses saying 'it's ok to want a divorce because you're not attracted to women', like that's the only issue at hand here. The issues she brought up are not to do with her trans husband's 'femininity' - unless masturbating in someone else's underwear, dressing in an excessively sexual and provocative manner, and complaining that you're not on your period are essential features of womanhood. It's not about 'I don't want to be married to a woman', it's more like 'I don't want to be married to a pervert'...

Banning GCdebatesQT feels especially wrong. Weren't there a fair amount of contributors that were on the 'QT' side there? Are we just not even going to pretend that we want to try to understand and debate others now?

I guess we're now all just considered so delusional that there is no point of talking to us...

Merriam Webster Dictionary re-defines 'transwoman' by OrangeFirefly in GenderCritical

To some extent, I think that the idea of being 'trans' fits in with the conservative notions of gender/gender roles. I suppose it's easier to accept that a too-feminine man is actually a woman rather than accept that sex does not determine one's interests and personality.
